Monolithsoft WiiU trailer - X (Takahashi x Tanaka x Sawano, Xenoblade x/multiplayer?)

I am glad that Monolithsoft got purchased by Nintendo few years ago...

That studio may become one of my favorite studio since Retro's Metroid Prime.

The more I think about it the less I think this is an MMO.
The game probably just has some sort of online component, comparable to Dragon Quest 9.

Also it's kinda sad to see that Yoko Shimomura and Yasunori Mitsuda don't seem to be returning for the soundtrack.

You can read an old article on Andriasang here that sheds light on how they've adjusted so well.

Short version is that the spent a lot of time studying games by other studios for HD platforms, well before the Wii U was released. So by the time it came round to making their own game they'd already done a ton of R&D on effective use of physics, advanced shaders, etc.

Hearing this almost makes me happy that these guys held off on HD development. Especially considering all the set backs that happened in Japan this generation.

Choice of composer is pretty interesting. I wonder if they considered using Kajiura from Xenosaga 2 and 3 since they seemed to be fine with going for an anime composer.

just took a lot of screen caps of the trailer, I changed my mind I think the game has a lot of color just a crappy feed I want to see a clear HD version

I can post the caps in my next post but please forgive me in advance for the load

In a Xeno-game headed by Takahashi? What were you expecting?

And Tanaka being on board is a good thing. I mean, look at what he did for Shulk and Fiora

According to a twitter post by Soraya Saga, Takahashi has been a fan of Sawano's music since before Unicorn was released.

Yeah. Being able to learn from the mistakes of others in how to go about HD development has certainly put them in good stead.

I f you have heard some of his works you really should. Its amazing especially Unicorn. Definitely fits the JRPG genre.

im thinking about playing it now too. 100+ hours is too much though. if you poop sock the main quest how long is it and is it possible to finish or is side quest grinding required?

if this new game is a sequel i hope they push up the colors. it's too brown and grey right now.

Just playing the main storyline, i'd say close to 60 hours. I think i clocked at about 80 hours, with a bit of sidequests.

Yeah, I happen to know him from guilty crown and can definitely understand why they went with him. I was just surprised they didn't go with someone more familiar like the aforementioned kajiura or mitsuda or even ACE+.

60 hours

Also to all those saying it's Shulk, I thouht so too originally, but Shulk dosen't have green eyes.

But Fiora does. Enough said :P

God, those seconds with the black screen and Nintendo and Monolith logos were like hours for me. For I moment I feared they were going to show a sequel to Disaster.

I really wish we could get higher quality screens of this.

yeah it bugs me they released HQ images for everything else even the W101 trailer seemed sharper during the feed but this one is blurry yet the promise it has if it looked sharper would be amazing.

I guess this will be one of the gems at E3 and they are downplaying it right now or maybe after SONY/MS put a little more Next Gen eye candy pressure on Nintendo they will want to up the image quality

at least we are not getting bullshots

When I saw the title on the neogaf thread (was at work during the ND), I assumed it was an update of X for the game boy.

I guess they could be trying to hold their cards close to their chest, but it still bugs me, because it's just at the right point where it looks like it could look really nice, but you can't say for sure.

Edit: but then they seem to be avoiding Bayonetta 2 gameplay footage as well, maybe they're waiting to see how games on the other next gen systems look like before they decide what they are going to focus on as far as PR.

Or, the game is in fact currently blurry, lower res, with frame hiccups, so it's not going to be released next month. I wouldn't mind if it released at that state anyway (I think it looks really nice as is and it's of course a giant leap over Xenoblade which was already great), but yeah, it's bound to improve.

I think it would have more to do with keeping the focus on Platinum's other Wii U game before they really start showing off Bayonetta 2.

Probably. TW101 looks amazing ( and IMHO it's the best looking Wii U title by far for the next future, before Mario / Zelda / this gorgeous God come out), but it'd be left in the dark if we would have already had images and videos for Bayonetta 2.

Now, back on topic: I'm still rewatching the trailer today. The music, the atmosphere, the scale...holy shit. If some years ago someone said to me that Nintendo would have announced a massive scale JRPG with out-of-this-world-graphics for the platform and art, mechas, godly music...TWICE (including Xenoblade on Wii here), I would have believed he had just lost his mind badly.

Instead, it's all true.
"How was it?" you ask, Iwata? I'll tell you this: AMAZING.

So, I've looked over the trailer and gathered some info.

The large enemy at the beginning is called "Anficoerias".
The neckless lizard dog enemies are called "Wild Lupus".
The large grasshopper is called "Akushoku no Kasuparu" (Evil Eater Casper? Unique monster)
The two spiders are called "Jorougumo Doukutsu" (Yellow Spider Cave; yes, that's the monsters name)
The large robot enemy is called "Vasara".
The enemy with lots of eyes is "Tekken no Bruno" (Iron Fist Bruno)
The enemy that can't be seen well is calld "Sleipnir Mira"

"Cooperation" attack (party attack) uses up 100 units of the gauge and causes "cooperation" effect.
"Braveheart" increases targets fighting accuracy, attack power and wave damage.
"Rage" attack reduces the targets fighting attack power
"Rising" increases damage dealt to an enemy that's targeting you.
"Missile" shoots concentrated missiles at the enemy.
"Grenade" causes a "sweltering heat" effect and hits 1 enemy.
"Bluse Blast" causes break status, and hits enemies in a straight line.
"Advance" increases your AT damage and heals your HP over time; used on yourself.
"Heavy Bomber" hauses "heat" status and affects a circular area around you after jumping foreward
"Sword Wind" attacks enemies around you with a blade of wind.
The Dolls "Beam Saber 1" attack causes "Physical Defence Down"
The Doll attack that cuts off Anficoerias' head in one go is called "Anti-matter Bastard (Close attack)". Close refers to distance from enemy. It does major damage.

When "Tester" gets killed the second enemy behind does too, dropping "(Temporary) Treasure Box Name"
The Doll is called "Mass-production Model Doll".
When in motorcycle mode he picks up a blue orb containing a "Kebo Carrot" (Kebo may refer the the areas name?)

Fiora being changed that much makes me think of how early X really is

thanks for this, looks like I'll be playing this game with a Wiki again lol

Great, now I will have to get a Wii U. That looked way too awesome.

By the way, that composer is the one from Gundam Unicorn, right? That explains why the music was so impressive.
