Monolithsoft WiiU trailer - X (Takahashi x Tanaka x Sawano, Xenoblade x/multiplayer?)

Yeah, Fiora's clothes there were made into optional armour, and her hair was changed, along with every other characters faces. Fiora's original model is still on the game disc too (and almost naked) but it can't be switched with her finished body because her head, torso, limbs and the like are all a single model (characters in the finished game have their bodies split into seperate parts).
 
The black haired dude looks like Zack at first, add to that action RPG combat with swords, guns, vehicles and mechs, and it seems my thirst for FFvsXIII will be a bit quenched sooner than expected.

I understand why duckroll is giggling like a school girl. I can't control myself either! If it's really Xenoblade 2 or somewhat related to Xenogears/Xenosaga, I can say my prayers were answered. Game of the forever.
 
Since this game's reveal I have been cogitating quite a bit about having Sawano as a composer. His bombastic scores will undoubtedly make the game feel grandiose, but there is one lesser known composer whose musical stylings are a perfect fit for Xeno- games: Kashiwa Daisuke.

Daisuke's band "Fugenn and the white elephants" released an instrumental album in 2012 called "Prays" and starting with the first song I couldn't help but feel that I was listening to a modern Xeno- game OST. Plus, Daisuke has a penchant for creating long ambient songs with a personality. This one, for example, is called Stella (album: Program music 1) and is 36 minutes long. Daisuke would have been a perfect fit as a composer for this game.

The large grasshopper is called "Akushoku no Kasuparu" (Evil Eater Casper? Unique monster)

The large robot enemy is called "Vasara".

"Cooperation" attack (party attack) uses up 100 units of the gauge and causes "cooperation" effect.
"Braveheart" increases targets fighting accuracy, attack power and wave damage.
"Rage" attack reduces the targets fighting attack power
"Rising" increases damage dealt to an enemy that's targeting you.
"Missile" shoots concentrated missiles at the enemy.
"Grenade" causes a "sweltering heat" effect and hits 1 enemy.
"Bluse Blast" causes break status, and hits enemies in a straight line.
"Advance" increases your AT damage and heals your HP over time; used on yourself.
"Heavy Bomber" hauses "heat" status and affects a circular area around you after jumping foreward
"Sword Wind" attacks enemies around you with a blade of wind.
The Dolls "Beam Saber 1" attack causes "Physical Defence Down"
The Doll attack that cuts off Anficoerias' head in one go is called "Anti-matter Bastard (Close attack)". Close refers to distance from enemy. It does major damage.

When "Tester" gets killed the second enemy behind does too, dropping "(Temporary) Treasure Box Name"
The Doll is called "Mass-production Model Doll".
When in motorcycle mode he picks up a blue orb containing a "Kebo Carrot" (Kebo may refer the the areas name?)

The only issue I had with it was the size, and that was due to the SD resolution. Played on Dolphin, I reduced the size of the icons and cursor which worked brilliantly.

but yeah, I can see why some would dislike it.

It's the clutter which I find problematic. It's actually better if you remove a lot of the UI in the options, but then you actually lose information about certain things. It'll be better if they could streamline some of the stuff with better design. I think having the time in the top right corner is a good start. Maybe an option to move a ton of stuff to the Gamepad screen would be good too, since that's an option with the WiiU.

what would be good would be if they just used the logos of the arts instead of giving them buttons just have them as logos and instead of Xed out for cooldown just have them fade transparent to nearly invisible only to appear when you can click them when not in battle everything is gone moved to gamepad

This is literally Yoshiyuki Tomino's stance on making anime. "You want to make a good anime? Don't watch them then."

Why can't I get Dunbine out of my head now?
 
I'm so hype for this game, and so glad that the game is actually well along in the development phase to already have a great looking trailer as that. I know it's been well over 2-3 years since Xenoblade came out, but the new Monolith Soft game was something I didn't expect to see anything of until E3 or even next year considering how huge Xenoblade was. I was on Edge about keeping my WiiU for the last two week and am so glad this Nintendo Direct came out. Monster Hunter and this new "X" game are going to justify this purchase for me alone. Add 2 new Zelda games and SMTXFE to that, and this is the most hyped I've been for a system's games in a very long time.

well he's damn right. (I appreciate anime, but I can easily see what's trash and what is actually work with, you know, content. Messages. Something to comunicate, not just entertainment. And Tomino's are examples for sure.)

But Retro and MonolithSoft aren't like Rare, they're as much Nintendo studios as the EAD studios.

Oh, OK.

Disaster Day came out in 2008, so it should have at least seen two years of development. Do think it's a bit longer though, they seriously can't have put much effort in DD, making it more likely the two were concurrently developed.

Except for the pants there seems to be no resemblance. Plus you don't see one of the giants in the background. And considering the story of Xenoblade I don't know if a prequel would be very interesting. Oh and the Dolls seem to imply a sequel as well.

As someone who has played Xenoblade but not Monster Hunter and see everything looking like Xenoblade, could someone explain me what's reminding everyone of Monster Hunter? Because if it's just that there's big monsters we already had those.

Yup... i don't get it either. I think there were enough colossal monsters in Xenoblade, to see they didn't just "turn this into" MH. Granted, the ones in the trailer look really huge, but not that they don't fit into the Xenoblade universe, and likely the ones in the trailer are about as big as they'll come in the actual game.

I haven't played MonHun, but from what I can divine MonHun is very hard with an extremely steep learning curve. Attacking is very slow and deliberate and missing or attacking at the wrong time will get punished immensely. There is a preparation period before hunting one of the top-tier beasts where items are acquired to be used in the fight to increase survivability. The monster itself has certain patterns that a player needs to learn so he/she can avoid or punish it. Fighting is very skill based as there are no RPG elements or leveling, just gear that you can fashion from slaying lesser beasts.

Obviously someone with actual experience should fact-check/fix that.

Far as I can tell, monster hunting in X will be pretty much the same as Xenoblade but with that limb targeting system seen in the trailer. Fighting will still be determined by party management, artes use and stats.

I found Monster Hunter to be very boring, tedious, and repetitive, and it is more oriented as a multiplayer game as doing everything by yourself would be most difficult later on.

Thanks for that suggestion.. yeah it looks fabulous. Great analysis video posted earlier too. It's amazing how well the details seem to hold up when the video is zoomed in segments. I watched the trailer 10x and I didn't even see that other character fighting another baddie in the distance. :S

Amazing to think that final product could potentially look a lot better than this too.
