I know what you mean. Just thinking about flying over that landscape in one of those mechs, fighting giant monsters in one of them, and then the kind of depth that Monolith Soft can bring to religion and lore (from what I remember of Xenosaga) it's just awesome.

Others mentioned spiritual successors, but there's also actual cases of new games turning out to be continuations of previous games by same devs, more or less blatantly. For example IIRC Flower, Sun and Rain is a continuation of The Silver Case but you wouldn't know it unless you actually play quite a bit of it. Or how Nier actually ties into one of Drakengard's endings.

Also, Radical Dreamers.

Vagrant Story being set in Ivalice is another example of that.

Vagrant Story is actually more like what Final Fantasy Legend is to Final Fantasy -- a title that wasn't conceived as part of the series but which was forcefully associated with it by the higherups for marketing reasons. In Matsuno's mind, VS was never set in Ivalice.

It's actually pronounced Zeno. In Japan it's Zenobureido. And in the Japanese Xenoblade trailer, the title narrator pronounces it as Zeno instead of Zeeno.
