PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

OMG, I just bought 3 months Plus membership because I can't afford the 1 year one yet. And much to my surprise ALL of my cloud saves that I had when they gave us free PS+ membership last year or so are still there. That was a nice surprise. I immediately uploaded my ME3 saves just to be safe since the profile one can't be copied to normal USB.

Anyway, bought The Unfinished Swan and Machinarium. Such a bargain.

Why oh why can't I buy something for it's actual fucking price? TUS is not $3.75. It's $5 because you need to add $5 to your funds. Shitty Sony is shitty.
They have a minimum charge for credit/debit purchases. Minimum purchase limits exist everywhere, not just Sony. My favorite Chinese take-out used to do this, because they were getting eaten alive by credit/debit fees. I didn't blame them for making a rational business decision...

Yup. Worse in the UK, we have to fund £5. And it's worse again direct on the Vita, when you can't add items to a cart (so you might end up funding multiples of £5).

Wish Sony would add The Unfinished Swan to the EU sale!!!
Saw a quote yesterday to expect this in the near future, I believe.

The good thing on the store though is if you have £5.40 in your account, and something costs £7, it simply asks you to add £1.60. I'd hate having to do it the MS way with all the points.

Good to hear, I'll await it going on sale!

Bought Unfinished Swan and I have this to say : "it's no Journey"

I might find it more enjoyable with my 3 year old son but I kept wanting a turbo button for shooting globs.

When will the ps+ games update? Is there a way to know which ones will be new?
I might get ps+ for the first time ever to play ratchet and clank.

Also: how good is ratchet and clank all 4 one? I am aware that it's not a traditional r&c game, but how good is it gameplay and coop wise? (would be playing through it with a friend).

edit: Anyone know a good online shop to buy EU PSN cards? (or do I need a specific belgian card?) I'm totally new to all this never bothered with anything PSN store wise before.

Doesn't it ask you to add £5? Or is that only if the game is under £5 in total cost? I bought Everybody's tennis for £2.50 or something and I had to add £5, so have £2.50 in my account.

edit: Misread, I see now.

Yeah I've played about an hour or so, been meaning to get back to it. I don't know how it plays out yet, but personally after the initial positive impression of the environment it's not grabbing me.

I finished Borderlands last night (now THERE is a game that overstays its welcome), maybe I'll hook up the camera and carry on tonight.

It is a bit underrated in my opinion. A lot of people slag the game but if you go into it with an open mind, its worth a play through especially with a friend. The gameplay is actually pretty similar to traditional R&C just with a heavy teamwork slant.

it is very good co-op game, i played it with my kids and they loved it. It is not 100% polished but you will have fun.

Or you could an higher amount before purchasing anything?
Do you mean I could load the account with some credit first? I could indeed, but quite why I can't just add to cart (like I can on every other platform that accesses the store) is beyond me.

This is a sensibile practice that exists EVERYWHERE. Credit/debit card companies charge the other companies a fee when their cards are used. Having a minimum amount you need to charge prevents taking a loss on actions. The only other option would be to not sell things for cheap at all.

I know others pointed this out to you already, but I just wanted to pile on, mainly because of the "Shitty Sony is shitty" bullshit.

Uncharted
Wipeout
Gravity Rush
Mutant Blob
JSR
Final Fantasy Tacticts

Are there any more free vita games with PS+ now? I'm thinking of trying it out, but I already have Uncharted and Mutant Blob and have FFT elsewhere.

EDIT: nevermind, on the PS store I also see Retro City Rampage, Chronovolt, and Foosball

I guess I'd probably go NiGHTS - it's an entirely unique and really incredible game experience, and one that, even despite a sequel attempt, will likely never be replicated. With the recent control patch and just the generally great job they did with the HD update (especially for Saturn game), at the Plus price, I feel like absolutely everyone should give it a go.

I'll go with that then. Thanks!

I'll echo everyone else and say that's it's pretty good for couch co-op, even if you do it with someone who doesn't play a lot of games (simple, intuitive controls). I never tried it online. I also never played it solo, as I don't think it'd be much fun that way.

This is what I do before buying pretty much anything on the PlayStation Store, I try to make it £5 or more, if I can't then I don't buy anything.

Well companies like Apple, Google, Amazon etc. manage to do it, so I don't see why Sony couldn't. It isn't so bad on the main PlayStation Store, but when they try to jump into mobile gaming stores with things like PlayStation Mobile they simply should allow people to buy these smaller purchases without the default.

Fair point, actually.

Nintendo doesn't force you to add a minimum amount, either.

I was sad that no Vita stuff was on sale, but I still grabbed some PS3 games.

Ended up getting -

Ratchet & Clank
Jak and Daxter
The Unfinished Swan

It's annoying, but unless you don't intend to buy anything ever again on PSN you'll probably use it up eventually, so it's more like putting 1.25 in a jar for future use.

I wonder if those companies do it just because they can eat the costs better, or that it's rarely an issue? At any rate I got $10 for the 30 cent games just in case. Guess I didn't need to, but stuff will probably crop up to use excess anyway (... like upgrading VC games.)

Seems I got the PS3 version of Pinball Arcade for free as well, when adding the Vita version to my download list. Got an unlock key, at least. Haven't tried playing it yet.

I just picked up House of the Dead, The non-Tiger Woods golf game, and Jak and Daxter for about $13. When you add in Gravity Rush that I got yesterday, my 3 month PS + has already paid for itself.

Now, let's see how long it takes to download all that as well as the MGR demo over PSN.

Not sure how the others do it, but I know Apple tries to minimize it by delaying billing so they can pool up multiple microtransactions into a single transaction.

I assume it is just the four base tables on Pinball Arcade that are free for +?
There doesn't appear to be any + discounts for the table packs, which is a shame.

Sony need to save money wherever they can. Amazon, Google and Apple are doing OK for themselves right now.
