Despite having a japanese import of the Monado Archives I've never sat down and truly read it, which I've begun now, and already came across interesting stuff I didn't know before.

-Xenoblade began production not long after the Wii first released, so they didn't know what kind of players would make up the Wii's userbase
-Takahashi told the games art directer Takami "let's make one well made game"
-The team played western games and discussed what they liked about them
-Takami wishes they could have connected the game together more, and have all areas be a single map instead of being seperated

I think the last one there shows what the team are aiming for. I wonder how close they'll get with X?

Ahem...I cannot fucking wait for this game. Trailer was amazing, and I loved Sawano's music in Blue Exorcist and Guilty Crown. As soon as I saw the mechs and the red X logo I went ballistic!

Xenoblade's areas pretty much had only one entrance and exit so a more connected world would be great.

They could possibly do the single map thing but if they do that the overall graphics quality would drop wouldn't it. I could see them having larger areas than xenoblade but still have separate areas. What I did like even though the maps were separated was it really didn't feel that way because you could see different areas of the game that you would actually visit later in the game.

Definitely.

-When testing Nopons on the area maps, they often became hidden by the grass.
-When testing Saihate Village they fell off quite a lot
-The game was developed alongside Soma Bringer and Disaster
-The game entered full scale production after Disaster was completed around mid 2008
-The game was originally scheduled for a holiday 2009 launch in Japan
-A new map was developed each month (or there abouts)

good stuff

I want more maps in X not less and more enemies too but I still want to be able to walk pass without fighting everything

What about less maps, with less loading, and more surface area?

-From October 2009 the games development was mostly just debugging
-The game still went through development, adding the Down Spike system (damages players when they attack a downed enemy) at this point
-This system was added when the testers continuously downed enemies and killed them
-The spike system existed beforehand, but it was adapted to balance the system
-Voice recording took place over around 10 days

Depends... if they don't want to put up invisible walls above every mountain, they better make it a single map. or they could get some anti air guns up there to shoot you down... but I don't think anybody would be happy with that solution.

-Beginning development the team discussed what they wanted to make, and what tradeoffs they'd accept to make it
-Even if the Wii were HD, the game would have looked the same, just at a higher resolution
-They knew how much effort would be needed to make 3 hours of event scenes, so they knew how to dedicate resources for them
-Most resources went into creating the maps
-The games plot was decided by Takahashi, adapted to a scenario by Takeda (scenario writer), which was then altered/edited by Takahashi
-Most of the scenario was Takeda up until
Agnirata
, after which Takahashi's "tastes" became the forefront
-Being shown various questions from fans, most made Takahashi think "they really want to know that much?"
-Such questions include "Do Nopons give mammal births, or lay eggs?", "What's Dickson's past?", "Will the friendless Dunban ever get a bride?"
-Takahashi answers that Nopons "likely" have mammal births, that Dickson (major spoilers)
changes his body as he lives
, and that being a hero Dunban might get a bride.
-Director Kojima and Takami joked "though he'll (Dunban) likely be
betrayed
", "how Dunban-like"
-Takahashi goes on to say that "as you can tell by the answers, we didn't really specify any of that" (his answers aren't canon)

Nice! Thanks Zenaku! Is this from some recent interview?

I've noticed what could be a fuel tank canister type thing on the left side of your mechs leg. It'd be cool if towns had places where you could station your mech to buy more fuel (perhaps a gear hangar?) Maybe X will feature something like this.

No, it's from "Xenoblade The Secret File: Monado Archives". I think it was translated into spanish or something; I'm reading the Japanese version.

Potential spoilers for the game, so nobody read the spoilers unless they've passed Valak.

-When voice recorded the fight scene between Duban and Mumuka, due to Wakamoto (Mumuka's VA)'s way of speaking they had to alter the timing of the scene
-With Wakamoto being Horikawa (Dunban's VA)'s senpai,
they found it hard to ask them to do retakes, so they came up with excuses like "we picked up noise", or "the lines clashed"
-They altered facial expressions to fit the lines too
-After preparing the script, they had another voice actor record the lines to act as a guide, but even then
Wakamoto and Horikawa's
performance didn't fit the scene as it was originally created
