Monolithsoft WiiU trailer - X (Takahashi x Tanaka x Sawano, Xenoblade x/multiplayer?)

This is looking amazing, also finding a copy of xenoblade is going to be impossible isn't it?

I got a used copy for $44.99 off the gamestop website last night, so it's still out there. Just need to keep an eye out for it.

You can also try searching for it at your local stores and see if any are within driving distance.

I really would like X to succeed.... We need additional types of titles from Nintendo(action/adventure, fps even, etc). Zelda and Metroid can't be the end all all of the time

thousands of those views must have been me.. assuming this will either be somethings very simalar or a sequel to xenoblade in HD makes me smile. So good.

Youtube counts one view per day so no matter how many times you watch the same video
the same day, the count only will increase by one and considering the trailer is only 3 days old, that says something :P

Wind Waker the worst? The only bad things about this game is the stupidly easy difficulty and the Triforce hunt at the end.

Worse dungeon design in the series(from the little I could be bothered to play), but I clearly look for different things in Zelda then most people do. Also given this is a Nintendo game that looks like exploration is a major focus I see no need for Zelda to go that way.

Wow, it looks like I really lucked in getting Xenoblade for $40 (no tax) then.. not a single outlet that sells games in my city had a copy. My suggestion for those who want it, but don't want to spend >$80 on a used copy is to put an add on your local Kijiji or Classifieds website that you're looking for it. Sometimes (like in my case), you might get someone who either doesn't know what the game is selling for normally, or is nice enough to sell it cheaper.

Hmm, just noticed that in the states Kijiji is called ebay classifieds where it isn't in Canada.. so maybe they'll be a little more savvy than most. Like I said though, any local classifieds website will do as it can't hurt to try.

Not true I don't think. When I've uploaded videos and viewed them it goes up when I view it, more than once per day.

I just hope this game has as much variety in scenery as Xenoblade did. That game had so much color, and this game looks brown, sadly. :(

Also, I hope this MP mode is seperate of the single player mode, so people who want to play through the story, don't have to worry about any multiplayer aspect.

Basically, I am hoping that the land mass we are seeing, is multiplayer only. Keep the gritty brown look to multiplayer, while leaving all of the color to single player.

I hope they aren't following the Monster Hunter formula either. One town, big empty fields with a huge boss in it.

That would make this game suck in my opinion, and would kill any hype I have right now, that it is indeed Xenoblade 2.

And used copies go for 80?

Dang. I have a European copy of the game opened, but with the controller unused. Then, when it came out in North America, I bought 2 copies, one to open, one to keep sealed. So, I wonder what my sealed one would fetch?

The area shown in the trailer is the same exact area throughout.

I really doubt it's just a multiplayer map.

Well, I can't express any excitement that hasn't already been expressed. The game obviously looks very similar to Xenoblade in terms of gameplay system and aspects of art direction.

But it may be a sequel only in the FF or Dark Souls sense. A true sequel has to carry on the story or lore of a previous game. A spiritual successor can borrow successful aspects of a previous game while going off on it's own direction in other ways. I suspect that's what's going to happen here.

Can't wait!

It's probably just single player with the option for co-op, so real people can replace the AI controlled party members.

Yeah, I bet it's this. Just like how in RE5 you could play 2 player through the story or another player could join you in game online. Ofcourse, it will all be entirely optional.

Hopefully this means that even if an AI party member is gimped like Melia was in Xenoblade, then it would come as a relief if we can indeed do online co-op to control the other party members in order to use them more effectively.

Yeah, it could lead to some pretty broken parties in Xenoblade since basically every character is so much more effective when used by a player.

Will be interesting to see how they balance that here if it is single player with co-op. Wonder if it means unique monsters will be stronger than they were in Xenoblade to make up for it, should still be fine for solo players, they might just need to be a higher level to tackle some things co-op players could do a bit earlier or more easily.

Looks like the break/topple system is also back in some fashion based on translation of some of arts in the video. I'm sure that and the chain attacks will be a lot less broken this time around.

Holy shit that video now has over 355000 views. But then again i think i watched it more than 20 times myself lol.:p

I watched it on my phone while at work over and over until my phone died... soooooo good, I lost it when he got in the 'doll' and went flying around. One of the things missing in Xenoblade were vehicles so it'd be cool to see some more around in this one.

Basically this. I will always prefer a human controlling a character over AI.

I know I'm, like, over three hundred posts late, but I take issue with people calling that sauropod an amphicoelias. I think it'd make that thing look like a lapdog (assuming it existed) if what we saw was actually modeled after one. Of the titanosaurs, I'd say it resembles an argentinosaurus. :P

>_>
<_<

*Ahem*

Carry on.

Though the GIF keeps me staying on the Xenoblade sequel side. The "Doll" has a stream of moving light, similar to the Faced Mechon of Xenoblade.
Of which were piloted by Homs through bodily alterations. But with time had advanced you'd think they'd refine the technology so you wouldn't have to undergo such a procedure.

From what I recall, the only reason
that whole procedure was necessary was because of the Monado. They infused the Faces with the blood of humans in order to make it so the Monado couldn't hurt them. It also seems like consuming other humans helped to replenish their supply, as well. So, without the need for a Monado that whole procedure is likely not necessary and anyone can just hop in and pilot one.

I'm so excited for this game.

But.

That .gif being thrown around everywhere is actively killing my interest in this game. Staaaahhhp. :(

Lets use another one. ;)

Ydas posted this to show the incredible scale of the game, You can see that tall structure in all three images, but I noticed something.

Look at this mountain.

Notice anything?

That tall structure Ydas pointed out in the second and third images up there? That isn't the same structure pointed out in the first image. The character is actually on the structure in that gif.

Or somewhere really close to it.

Pros:

-Monster designs are detailed and interesting
-Lots of AA from the looks of cliff edges
-Sharper textures than what open world console games are producing
-Incredible draw distance that surpasses every current gen console game
-Gameplay looks addictive

Cons:

-Water texture is awful, so is the splashing water sprite
-AF is atrocious
-Environments are lacking polygonal complexity in particular areas that gives the world an inconsistent aesthetic (the ground specifically)
-Janky animation

Overall Impression: X looks better than any current gen console game I have seen. There is certainly room for improvements that will remedy the cons that I've pointed out given X is early in its development. From a technical standpoint, there is no doubt in my mind that X is above RDR, Skyrim, and Just Cause 2, however it just barely edges out Just Cause 2. If I had to guess where X is in its development, my bets would be in Alpha-Alpha. The gameplay is where it shines. This type of game looks like it would be right up my alley.

Doesn't he fly off one of the floating islands?

Water in Xenoblade I remember it being good for some reason but this shoreline in X have come up a few times I hope they can fix it this is early first look

It's not a snarky post to correct someone. Afterall, there is a big difference between GB and gb.

I thought gigabit was typically abbreviated as "Gb", with the more common gb indicating the likely much more relevant gigabyte.

I actually think the islands might be a little higher.

That long stretch of land in the right side of the image looks like the smaller long segment in this picture:

But this is purely conjecture.

I think I agree with this.

I have no problem with the water texture but that lack of geometry complexity is what makes it look horrible. I have a hard time believing thatwill ship like that.

It's fine using Gb for gigabit, but gigabyte should always be abbreviated GB.

Anyway, I wonder when we will get some new info on X. Do we have to wait for E3?

Awesome catch. I'm embarrassed for not even noticing after all the times I've seen the trailer. So, I guess the brown structure that Smiles found is in fact the "base/colony" structure.

What I think is funny is I remember reading something like they didn't expect Xenoblade to do so well and it was more of an experimental project. But people apparently loved it and now it looks like they're getting a sequel. I have mine but it's still factory sealed and never played. I will get around to it during the summer probably. =l

Agreed. I didn't want to call it horrible because the geometry is equivalent to the best looking open world games from the PS360, and better in some respects. However, I also believe X will receive nice updates to its visuals throughout its development cycle.

With that in mind, I do think X will increase its geometric complexities, however, any noticeable increase will be greatly overshadowed by the releases of PS4 and XB3. X will be a must have title for every Wii U owner despite the obvious fact that it won't look impressive in comparison to open world games with twice as much complexities as Crysis 1 on Ultra settings streaming onscreen.
