It's a possibility the object with the green highlight at the start of the trailer could be a hotspot for players to join your game.

So, uh, this is coming to all English-speaking territories, right? Seems like it'd work nicely for the WiiU wherever it's sold, since it looks just as high-caliber as FF Versus XIII and FF titles still sell well in the West.

So I quickly put this together. I really do think it's Shulk. The green eyes could just be because of the lighting and because of Kunihiko Tanaka's involvement with the character design. Notice the same eyebrows? The same hair parting? The same mouth and nose? Also, his hair is a different shade on each picture. The reason why his hair in the trailer is a darker shade could be because of the lighting, but I am certain it's because of the subdued palette of the game.

It's obviously Shulk - why show a character like that half in shadow... It's so obviously suggesting Shulk.

I figured that analysis was onto something. Good comparison! So I guess the game really does take place in the relative future. Neat

whats the eye color of fiorung?

whats the eye color of fiorung?

Fiora's eyes are green, but I just can't imagine it being their son with the only difference being that he has green eyes. If it was their son, I couldn't imagine Monolith Soft creating him to look EXACTLY like Shulk and just changing his eye colour, that just seems lazy.

Obviously I could be wrong and it COULD be Fiora and Shulk's son and I will eat my own words, but right now I think it's Shulk.

If it really is Shulk, I wonder what's Takahashi's reasoning for going back to Xenoblade's world. Based on his comments about just want to create one really good game with Xenoblade, but the game not being Monolith's magnum opus or anything, and the story being simpler than what Takahashi normally does, I'd figure he'd like to create something entirely new. But maybe he had much bigger plans to build off of Xenoblade and make the world and story much more complex? Or could Shulk be similar to Abel and Nephilim in Xenosaga, ie. based off (and look like) Abel and Elly from Xenogears, but aren't quite the same?

Time for me to bail, discussion of the likelihood of Shulk appearing in this game will inevitably lead to unmarked spoilers :(

This is what I'd like him to do.

So, would it be safe to assume that this is Xenoblade 2, with this evidence?

- Shulk lookalike, could be shulk
- Same battle UI
- Similar looking mechs and environment
- evidence of rifle based auras as well as a driver being used similar to Reyn's.
- the X at the end which looks like the X in Xenoblade rather than Xenogears'.

I think it is.

I thought exactly the same while I was looking at that pic.

I have seen a few people on other boards comment that they think he looks too serious, which makes him come off as looking evil. But I think it fits within what the trailer was trying to express, an epic vibe. Plus, it's very Japanese-y to show half a face with his expression.

I would of laughed if it cut to him pulling a phat ass grin, though.

based on xenoblades ending...I dunno.

They could just make a similar game in another universe or setting.

Xenoblade's ending created a new world with no gods. Doesn't stop people from being assholes and trying to take over the new world.

Besides, everyone survived apart from a select few.

Absolutely tonnes of possibilities. Xenoblade's ending presented a completely clean slate.

Agreed. This scene pretty much solidified his place in my "best RPG characters ever" list. Tons of emotion in that scene and just great voice acting all the way through.

Just stare at this until it's time. :P

Brilliant voice acting, I would prefer they use UK VA for X too as I'm from the UK and because, to me, it felt so much more relatable and you really feel the emotions. It felt real. The VA gets better each time you hear it, too.

Possibly. It could be a re-imagining of Xenoblade, but this time it's not an experiment, X is the real deal.

Agreed. And Dunban was in a motherfucking class entirely of his own.

So badass.

Yeah, they 100% need to have UK voice overs again. Totally just fits the game world perfectly.

Also, if you watch this scene right after the previous one it's just like... man.

Really liked "Metal Face" after that scene.

Never really thought of that. If this thing is picked up right away by NOA(or forced on them by NCL), are they going to stick with the UK accents. I guess if Shulk is in it, they'd have to.

I'm from the US and I would prefer they use similar VA for X. Somehow the accent made it have more lore and it felt more authentic somehow.

Exactly. If it were a new character/new IP, it would make no sense. Showing a character like that, obviously indicates it's someone we know. The only explanation would be Shulk, or, maybe a descendant.

I also read about a lot of people not digging the characters from Xenoblade, for being too shallow. I don't agree. Actually, i strongly disagree. The fact that the characters are never "in your face" like many "obvious" heroes in other games, is a testament to the quality of the game. You didn't play Xenoblade because you liked being Shulk or think his character is "cool", you played it because it FIT, because it was a great game. Characters didn't need to be "elevated" for the game and story to remain interesting and engaging. In fact, had they done that, i think it would have made the game LESS interesting and more generic.

I think this scene from Xenoblade really exemplifies what you're saying well.

They didn't go into great depth on any of the characters, but even so, they stood apart from other RPG's. They were memorable on their own, from their actions and words. Xenoblade was really a "once in a generation" kinda game - we can only hope that we'd be so lucky to get another game of the same caliber from Monolith in such a short time span.

This so much! It's one of the biggest reasons I fell in love with Takahashi's RPGs. I am so sick of the silly characters in RPGs like Final Fantasy.

Wow, really? There are people reading this thread who haven't finished Xenoblade... Stop talking about the character being Fiora's son, That very possibility is a GIANT spoiler. Oh, and stop casually mentioning the reseting of the world at the end without spoiler tags as well... geez...

I'm from the US and I completely agree. I dunno why American voice actors decide to use the most annoying voices that can muster when reading for JRPGs... I REALLY hope they stick with the UK voice actors for all of Monolithsoft's games.

These videos are all pretty BIG SPOILERS if you haven't finished Xenoblade, so don't click on them unless you have. They should probably be spoiler marked.

One of the early trailers for Xenosaga pointedly showed Citan and Fei look-alikes. That situation was a little different because Monolith didn't own the Xenogears IP, but it should still serve as a warning that Takahashi likes playing on your associations with older games.

Are we really going to tiptoe around spoilers in the threads for this game? It would be like going into a thread for the second season of a show and when someone mentions something from the first season, someone goes, "Whoa there. Some people haven't seen the first season. Spoiler all of that."

If you haven't played or finished Xenoblade and you care about spoilers, it's probably not a good idea to watch media from its sequel and go around people talking about the sequel. I mean, just watching the trailer has huge spoilers about what happens to the world.

That's true. But at the same time, some people really might be motivated to try Xenoblade after seeing the trailer for X. I'd hate for them to have some plot from such a wonder game ruined here.

Is it so hard to use an existing tag or have the consideration to otherwise make spoilers obvious. It's evident many haven't beaten Xenoblade, and I don't see how interest in X means you necessarily did.

As to your edit, Im roughly 40 hours into Xenoblade and don't see any spoilers for it present in X which is not even officially a sequel.
