Can someone please post the excerpts from the Empire Magazine issue when they get a chance =) .
"We're approaching Superman as if it weren't a comic book movie, as if it were real," writer David Goyer told Empire in the latest issue of the magazine. As you should already know, Goyer played a key role in helping craft Christopher Nolan's realistic take on Batman, so it perhaps should come as no surprise that he decided to bring this same aesthetic to Man of Steel (and if nothing else, that means we probably shouldn't expect another Superman Returns). "I adore the Donner films. Absolutely adore them. It just struck me that there was an idealist quality to them that may or may not work with today's audience. It just struck me that if Superman really existed in the world, first of all this story would be a story about first contact."
"He's an alien. You can easily imagine a scenario in which we'd be doing a film like E.T., as opposed to him running around in tights. If the world found out he existed, it would be the biggest thing that ever happened in human history," he added when talk turned to how exactly you bring a character like Superman into a world similar to our own. "It falls into that idea of trying to humanise the inhuman. He's made out of steel, he's not made out of flesh, metaphorically speaking. We are portraying him as a man, yet he's not a man." So, Goyer clearly has a clear vision when it comes to this realistic and grounded take on arguably the world's most iconic superhero.
However, just how challenging is it to take a near indestructible superhero who can fly and fire blasts of heat from his eyes, and make him both relatable and a believable addition to our world? "It is obviously a much longer process with a character like Superman. It is much easier to do a realistic take on Batman. You know nothing can hurt Superman, presumably other than Kryptonite. The challenge was simply: can we figure out a way to make those elements work, quote unquote, in the real world? It's very much a story of a man with two fathers." How do you feel about this interpretation of Superman? Be sure to sound off with your thoughts on these comments in the usual place and pick up the latest issue of Empire for more on Man of Steel.
Why do I keep seeing Tom Welling.

Whilst? The suit looks like shite, I don't care what any of you here say. I can't believe the amount of hate the Singer design got whilst gets this a free pass. Every time I see it I think of Thor's costume.
I wont pre-judge the film, however, because still photos of costumes rarely reflect their onscreen appearance.
Whilst?
DISASTER AVERTED!!

Actually though, I'd love to see the train wreck that would have been this movie: Cage's stupid face in Sup costume running around like a douche, wacky Burton nonsensical BS all over the place, MUTHAFUCKIN' LUTHIAC realized with tens of millions of Hollywood money introduce while Danny Elfman's trademark 'oompha oompha' baddie score playing in the background...
It would have been such an epic fail, that Superman IP would have been damaged beyond repair for a century!
Stuck out the most whilst reading it. What can I say?The words are out of order and you pick on this?
Well shit though, THAT costume pretty much erases the other cage picture.
Which one?

So Burton was planning on going all "Batman fake muscles" with the suit? Again, thank God this turd didn;t get made.
The old cage super picture that did the rounds for years. With the long hair.
Well, the Burtonsuit does have that horrible comicbook style perma flex going on with the muscles.
Wow no wire work? Really hope they pull it off, because god damn did Routh look stupid in Returns in close ups with a shitty cgi face.
Aside the trunks and House of El crest, the design is almost identical to the new one

The Kryptonians?
Pandorum chick is amazingly hot.
Yeah I can't believe so many people believed that photo. It's a doll body!

"Meh, I think it looks kinda nice actually. Depends on the visual tone of the film, of course. "
You have some god awful taste.
There's no wire work because Cavill is actually flying.
The Flyby costume was going to be sculpted too:

Though they did end up using the shield design for Superman Returns.
Huh! Had never seen that photo before.
So the S-shield, and the Plane sequence basically made it out of "Fly By" alive.

All right Matrix, I need you to pick your poison.
Lois & Clark or Superboy 88'?
I'd rather watch Superboy 88 LOL
Though Gerard Christopher Superboy >>> John Haymes Newton portraying him.
both better than Cain lol
Yep. Funny thing is Cavill would of worn that suit too if Flyby ended up being made.

I wouldn't go that far, haha.
Both were playing Superboy, one was playing Superman and was shitty at doing it which is even worse imo.
Make Cain pug face/nose haven't lost my baby fat Superboy and he's not as bad.
To this day I would punch Cain in the fucking throat for the travesty of Lois & Clark.
Fucking Superman Pez dispensers had more charisma.
