You can blame MVC3 facebook page for that. Scrubs crying and screaming for Capcom to nerf Sentinel.
Everyone screamed for Sentinel nerfs back in the day. They started screaming for nerfs before they even got to play the game. He hadn't even won a tournament yet.
Sentinel, Ice Man and Wesker are examples of how you don't start asking for nerfs/buffs one week into the game.

We infer this as Sven being Sven. As of now Sven is just tired of saying "NO MORE MARVEL!!!" so he has changed his tone to "I can't say anything". As long as people keep coming to CU spamming up the forums for MORE MAHVEL... Sven is doing his job.
Don't give the guy any more attention than he already has. It's a waste of effort trying to analyze his lines or come up with inferred meanings.

Yeah that's stupid but the outrage over Wesker was also stupid. He's still a really strong character and better than either Ice Man or Sentinel but the outcry over OP Wesker was over the top.

So I just took a quick gander through the Ask Capcom forum. Tens of threads related to MvC3 updates/MvC4 in the past month. People just keep asking the same shit over and over again.

In the HYPOTHETICAL SCENARIO that a UMVC3 update is released... Capcom is going to do what it always does and nerf those characters while ALSO giving them a couple buffs to change up their style (probably something like buffing up a useless move so people actually use it now). That's pretty much what happened with Zero, Magneto and Morrigan, they both received nerfs and buffs but the net effect ended up them being buffed (because the rest of the top tiers got nerfed more and the tools they buffed became way too good).
Unless you mean that they are going to NET BUFF those characters overall... your bet will just result in 6 bans. Also I don't think GAF holds permaban bets anymore.
Edit: Just read your 2nd post. No way in fucking hell that Zero gets a net buff if there is an update. In fact, if there is an announcement over this I will take you on the bet but for Zero only and not a perma ban (avatar bet). I will also add that I will never post about Marvel again because it's not worth talking about a game that is run by complete idiots.

As someone in SRK pointed out, aren't both of them 360 only tournaments? What if the patch wasn't out by the time the tournaments happen?

If the 360 patch doesn't come out in another 2.5 months(4 for CEO)? Not going to say it's impossible given the history SG has had with console patches, but I think it's pretty unlikely.
If that happens, then something will have to give, yeah.
EDIT: I guess it's closer to 3 and 4.5 months, really. Considering that the only thing holding up the 360 patch is MS bureaucracy at this point, it's hard to think that it won't go up for 3 months on that alone.
Top 3 character buffs in a hypothetical umvc3 update:
1) Let Dante's combos connect like they did vanilla. Give him his a button and skydance in the all back
2) Give Wesker his counter invincibility. Whats the point of the counter if you can interupt its startup?
3) Give Sent 1.3 mill back. He is fun to play but the fact that he dies of 1 combo is disheartening.

Hi!
UFGT is not a 360 only tournament. We try to push to use the better versions of the games, but sometimes we yeild to the desires of a community. Last year we ran Tekken on PS3 for instance.
This year will be a mix of both consoles. The Skullgirls patch will not be a concern. Plus, we need PS3s for Divekick anyway, right?
