I'm thinking about signing up for netflix to rewatch star trek tng.

on their main page, there is no way to search for content. There's a browse option but it is extremely limited.

what am I doing wrong?

Many times in sitcoms, the camera will pan over the environment or characters, and the last shot will be the joke. For example, the last character might be in drag, or the camera will show someone/something that was previously out of view. How does this work for the studio audience? They obviously see the entire set, so are they instructed not to laugh?

It's something I've always wondered.

Mens' work shoes. I need something that won't make my knees hurt after 2 hours. Everything I have right now has terrible support. What's the best brand? Trying to not spend over 70.

Anyone well-versed in Chinese surnames? I need to know if Chen and Liu in "Hao Chen & Xinguo Liu" (Bungie employees) are the surnames or not :) Google suggest this is so but I don't know for sure.

Just curious - when the magnet poles reverse, does it happen instantaneously or is it over a period of years? And if its the latter, does that mean we could live in an age where the poles are on the equator?

http://www.geomag.bgs.ac.uk/education/reversals.html

We have no complete record of the history of any reversal, so any claims we can make are mostly on the basis of mathematical models of the field behaviour and partly on limited evidence from rocks that retain an imprint of the ancient magnetic field present when they were formed. For example, the mathematical simulations seem to suggest that a full reversal may take about one to several thousand years to complete. This is fast by geological standards but slow on a human time scale.

As above, we have limited evidence from geological measurements about the patterns of change in the magnetic field during a reversal. We might expect to see, based on models of the field run on supercomputers, a far more complicated field pattern at the Earth's surface, with perhaps more than one North and South pole at any given time. We might also see the poles 'wandering' with time from their current positions towards and across the equator. The overall strength of the field, anywhere on the Earth, may be no more than a tenth of its strength now.

1000+ years (at best guess) and yes.

Is there a word for the opposite of jealousy. As in I feel like my dogs insight jealousy in other people lol

Well yes, such as contentment or satisfaction but that's not really what you are describing. Oh and it's 'incite' in that context incidentally; 'insight' and 'incite' have two very different meanings. Hope you don't mind me pointing that out.

So after having this recommended to me a lot lately I decided to book myself a massage for tomorrow. I've never actually had one though and I'm just curious what the process is like? I'm just going to a massage envy so nothing really high end but I don't know what is expected of me when I go in, etc.

Well it can vary depending on what type of massage you have booked but typically it should go like this:

i/ questionnaire or brief discussion to check for any contraindications e.g. a pre-existing medical condition or injury the masseur would need to take into account.
ii/ then they'll leave the room while you take off your clothes, possibly behind a screen, and you then lie on the massage table face down with a covering e.g. towel over your hips and below.
iii/ the masseur will return and generally start by massaging your back, then legs, then ask you to turn over, the front of your legs, your abdominal area and chest, arms and face.

Then they'll leave you to come back to reality and get dressed again. Ideally they should check with you to see if you are okay to leave as a massage can have a profound effect on the client, especially if they are a no0b :P. You may feel spaced out or emotional or exhausted or unable to drive. Massage can release tensions your body has been holding onto including emotional and psychological traumas that may be years old. So it's not a good idea to plan to party right after your first massage! I would advise you to leave several hours, ideally the rest of the day, free for recovery purposes. Be gentle with yourself.

Of course, none of this may happen; you may just find it awesomely relaxing and enjoyable :).

Enjoy it! Massages are awesome. Giving them is even better! :)

Those are surnames. Hao Chen could go both ways but Xinguo Liu indicates that both are presented in the Western form of putting the surname last.

As long as you aren't going to an AMP or expecting a HE or anything then it's pretty regular going.

I've got some stuff preordered from Amazon and it's going to ship in different shipments, but it's all in one order. Most of the order is covered with Amazon credit but some of it I'll still have to pay cash for. I know Amazon doesn't charge you until it ships, but in this case when will I be charged? At the end of March when the first item ships? Or in May when the last item ships?

I've done something similar and they charged me with the first shipment.

What does this emote stand for? :$
It usually means "aww" or 'blushing' (in latin america at least)

Since I can't make threads here is my question...

Question: I just hurt my knee pretty badly and I am uninsured until September (job transition and I am student) Where should I look for insurance, and what benefits should I look for especially for a possible future surgery.

That said...

I know we have a Medical Big 3
Cigna
United HealthCare
Aetna

Im not too concerned about pharmacy benefits. Mostly medical, preventive care and surgical. I am looking for a low deductible, and I don't paying 140-250 a month for it (generally cheaper if you pay the six months up front) That said I am totally overwhelmed by the choices and was hoping there was someone here that went through this.

I got a question, so I just bought a new laptop two weeks ago and for some reason whatsoever I'm having trouble watching youtube videos in HD. It either takes forever to load or the audio and video are not in sync. Sometimes Hulu stutters when I'm watching a video. Is it my laptop or is my internet just shitty.

I'm thinking its probably my ISP. I'm using AT&T U verse and I'm supposed to get up to 18 Mbps with the plan I have.

Laptop specs?

If the video has already loaded it's probably not a problem with your connection. Maybe try updating Flash and your video drivers if they aren't up-to-date.

Define "takes forever to load."

Laptop specs?

Hope this is the right info

Its a Toshiba Windows 8, 64 bit. Processor is AMD E 300 APU with Radeon Graphics, 1.30hz and 4 gb Ram. Hope that's what you asked

When I say takes forever, it took me about an hour to watch a 45 min video on youtube because it was waiting to load. Maybe I just don't have patience. The one that bothers me is when it stutters and skips.

Your laptop just died from laughing at my pc specs but then my pc is over nine years old and was a low spec budget pc when I bought it then. I too have a crappy connection: 1.8 Mbps, as I type this.

My solution with streaming videos is to download them and then watch them. I have a couple of Firefox extensions I use and at least one of them will work with Youtube videos.

Of course it would be a good idea to follow the advice given above and consider an upgrade to your connection, if you can, but I thought I would offer the above too.

Lol I have no idea if the specs of my laptop is good or not, it was cheap at best buy so I just bought it. My max connection is 18 Mbps though not 1.8 Mbps. I guess I just have to learn to be patient and let it load

I have to go to a Chuck E. Cheese for my nephews birthday party in a few days.

Am I allowed to play the games while I'm there, even though I'm 16? Or do I just have to sit there and be bored to death.

I'll swap my pc for your laptop and then you will know how good your specs were.

I know, I'm just too kind.

Is there any gaf related Firefox add-ons? Really I'm just looking for a highlighter tool like the Chrome extension.

That should be more than enough to handle youtube, nothing should take that long.

I would suggest seeing if you have the same issue on other browsers. If you are using IE, try Chrome or Firefox. If you are using chrome or firefox try IE9 or even the IE10 beta.

If that doesn't solve it test your connection at speedtest.net.

Stupid question:

What's Bestbuy's return policy on open items? I bought a new TV last week and the guy there told me that the PS3 3D glasses were compatible, but they aren't. I bought 6 and opened 4 of them. Will they take em back?

From their site:

Nonreturnable Items
•Labor, delivery and/or completed Geek Squad® installation services
•Some prepaid cards, digital subscriptions or services
•Consumable items such as food, drinks and batteries
•Items that are damaged or abused
•Items that are missing accessories such as remote controls, cords and cables
•Etched or otherwise personalized items
•Opened computer software, movies, music and video games can be exchanged for the identical item but cannot be returned for a refund
•Downloadable digital content (such as games and movies)
•Microphones, harmonicas and similar products
•Marketplace items and items purchased at Best Buy Express kiosks cannot be returned to Best Buy stores.

You should be good to go, especially since you have a good reason for returning them as you got bad advice from their employee.

I returned open items a couple of times because they weren't compatible with the item they were supposed to be used with and they took them in, as long as they weren't damaged.

I got Amazon Prime a few weeks ago. I didn't know that you needed a Kindle device for the e-book library (though I'm not too worried about that, since I didn't get Amazon Prime just for that).

2) While I know I need a kindle device to access the library, would I need the Kindle to read the books as well, or would I be able to use the Kindle app on other devices (iPad, etc) at that point?

3) If I buy a used Kindle through Craigslist or through some other venue, would I be able to access the library, or would I need to buy brand new from Amazon?

From Amazon

Reading Your Borrowed Book
The book currently being borrowed can be read on multiple Kindle devices, as long as they are registered to the same eligible account, but cannot be read on Kindle reading apps.

For #3, I'm not 100% sure, but I believe you can simply deregister the device and then register it again under your account to get access.

Anybody ever run into a problem with launching netflix through a PS3, and it seemingly causing their network to stop working or at least reduce to a crawl?

This has begun to happen over the last few days, and although it's not completely limited to launching netflix, it seems to happen most often when starting the service up.

Netflix has been used regularly in my house for years now, and this specific issue hasn't arisen before.

Guys, do any of you here use the Disqus comments plug-in?

Let's say I have 4 news stories with each their headline, why is it, that my news story uses a headline from another news story in the "Top Stories on Website" tab?

I'm thinking of buying a Wii to play GameCube games and play some first party Nintendo games. Will I be disappointed? Can I use a GameCube controller on the Wii?

There was an ex-colleague of mine from the uni (we weren't even friends, actually) who asked for my help a couple times, on Facebook. She wanted me to review and correct her translation homework. I accepted and corrected her papers but when she asked for help a third time, I didn't answer because I wasn't getting any kind of reward and it takes some time to correct someone else's homework.

The day after, I got a notification saying she'd just removed me from her Friends list. Why do people do shit like that?

Why would you be? Tons of awesome GameCube games. I know some later models have removed the Wii slots, but I'm not sure which, so just keep an eye on that. So yeah, otherwise you're perfectly able to use GC-controllers. Also, there's a ton of awesome Wii games, so prepare for that, too. It's so cheap, I don't see how you can go wrong.

Because people suck.

Hiring a professional to write a resume for me- yay or ney? I'm just going nowhere on my job search here to get out of my parents' house, and I think my resume is holding me back.

I probably have nothing to lose at this point.

Has anyone dealt with these guys?

I have a car with a CD player and no auxiliary input. Besides an FM transmitter, is there any way I can play the songs from my phone over the car speakers? I find the quality on the FM transmitters to be spotty at best, so that's not a route I want to take. Not being able to play my songs through my car speakers is the only thing stopping me from getting Spotify Premium.

Cool. I was just a little hesitant because I heard people rag on the Wii for so long. I'll probably have a ton of fun.

Next question, what's my best bet at getting gamecube games? Preferably in a store, otherwise I assume eBay and Craigslist.

I have another dumb Amazon question, if I preorder some stuff and pick free super saver shipping, what would happen if my total ended up dropping under $25 because of Amazon's preorder price guarantee?

Swap out the CD player for something with an AUX in? Beyond that, I think the FM transmitter is your only option.
