Let's just say i paid almost as much for this as the fucking game itself...

I'm pathetic ( ._.)
But its just 20 bucks...
+ 7 bucks shipping
The item icons and sharpness icon look ugly compared to the ones in Tri. The blocky style really stands out since the monsters and hunter look great.

But you're going to put all that stuff down on the touch screen anyway.

Ouch.

By the way, who is going with digital versions of the game?

I live overseas so I will probably be forced to no matter how much I want the box. If I can't get people to bring it over here who will be coming the day after launch.

I'd order the case but ugh Philippines.

Either I spend $30 total for postal, risk losing the item and slapped customs fees (+$40)

or spend $80 for UPS, still risk for awful customs fees (+$40)

And whole article-interview is already out in English at GR UK. Some interesting facts in there for MH fans.

Don't know if there's going to be any other event with Tsujimoto-san in Europe, it seems he's in the US now?

Fascinating stuff, thanks.

How well-designed the beasts are is obviously one of the BIG reasons for Monster Hunter's success. The artbooks are stunning documents and they've definitely honed their skills and got much better at it from the third generation on.

They don't just feel like a kid's imagination running wild, but physical beings.

In a zoo, the team is faced with queries such as "why is a lion scary?" and "why is the leopard crouching before pouncing on its prey?".

But all this research and time spent on creature creation isn't just to make the game look good. The real intention here is to create a captivating and entertaining experience for the player. The idea is to evoke emotions as the creatures act the way wild animals would.

We really need to move to Japan.

I only have a shitty Ceadeus SS figurine, lol.

I've got this guy =D

I've actually been seeing (web) ads for this game. Nice. I kind of want to be there month 1 like Tri, but I don't think I'll be able to this time.

I wonder when we will see more of this guide book we are getting. I hope it is well done... I would totally snatch up the Japanese Tri/3G guide if it weren't a bit too spendy on eBay. If we get something even half as great over here I will be happy.

I just don't see the use of such a thing, other than it being "cool to have." Do you know how much the Japanese one cost?

I agree for the most part. I suppose if you... uh, had no internet? But largely all that data is on several wikis. For me, though, that Japanese Official Guide (1200 page one) is just a beautiful beautiful thing and I would love to have it.

eBay prices (just did a quick search) seem to range from 40-100 without shipping which will add on 10-20 more for the Japanese book. I am not sure how much it originally was priced for. May not have been much less than some of those prices on eBay now that I think about it. I seem to remember reading it was actually cheaper than people expected.

This is probably a dumb question, but I was wondering if any of you would know if this setup will work.

I have a WiiU and my brother has a 3ds. I have a friend who is also getting the WiiU version.

Is it possible for me and my brother and my friend to all play at the same time (Same online game room.)

I know there is WiiU to 3ds adhoc, but thats about it.

Either way, I still have to look at it!

Thanks for sharing. Designing a game with gameplay in mind first and foremost shows me Tsujimoto gets it.

"The main feature of a game, what sets it apart from any other forms of entertainment is the gameplay, the fun, the interaction between the machine and the player. We are not filmmakers, films don't do this and what we make is games. If this point is lost, if the gameplay doesn't come first, with the fun that comes with interactivity as the basis, then what we do becomes meaningless. In this sense, I think both Capcom and Nintendo are similar. I am proud to be a person who focuses on the creation of video games."

I think this "guide" is really useful http://mhag.info/mhtrig/main.htm

Wii U players can only go online with each other.

I'm pretty sure not. :(

If you are playing online I don't believe you can play ad hoc, your friend will either have to bring a 3DS or your brother play's on another Wii U.

Indeed, I have the same issue with my wife. It's either buy a second Wii U so we can both play online with our friends, or just play together locally and split time online with our regular party. Arrrghgh.

Lol my Wii U died, and probably wont get a replacement before this comes out (only reason I got the damn thing too!) still getting both versions, gotta support this shit no matter what.

if you send it for repair now, you will definitely get it back by game launch

I just placed a preorder for the 3DS version in addition to my Wii U order of the game. I was playing Monster Hunter 3 on my Wii U and it got my thinking that I really wish the game had offTV play so I could play anywhere in the house, and I want the 3DS version to solo hunt while outside. This is going to be expensive just for Monster Hunter. If only the 3DS version had online play.
