How exactly is this private/public partnership to build high-tech schools supposed to work? That proposal makes very little sense to me.

Nice, calling out the refi bill. Of all the things they desperately ought to pass.

He's just throwing shit at a wall. Nice wish list, but that's all it is.

It's a little sad that we've gotten to the point where we need a presidential directive to engage in something as simple as infrastructure repair.
It still won't happen. The costs to actually fix those bridges and other major infrastructure items is crazy because many need top-to-bottom demolition and replacement because maintenance has been deferred for years.

Chip in for hardware and you get access to fiber/customers.

Similarto the Google fiber in Kansas but in reverse.

I'm really happy to see attention being paid to early childhood education. It can provide a really high return for a relatively small investment.

It depends on the details. It could be corporate garbage, or it could be something like lego mindstorms which gets kids programming robots in junior high. Beats memorizing the periodic table, which is a useful thing to know if you plan on being an unthinking encyclopedia.

I'm glad i live in a world where those studies are meaningless. My gut says preschool is a waste of money and we shouldn't do it just because Obama is a snob who thinks kids should learn earlier.

I love watching Boehner try to identify which items he has to clap for and which he has to oppose. You can see the calculation.

Pre-school is a really, really good idea. Studies show it has a huge impact for poorer families and a negligible one for richer families, so private pre-school is basically a huge waste of money, but public pre-school could make a huge difference.

Dramatically expanding early college access is a good idea. It's too expensive to implement with the piecemeal approach they do now though.

Edit: Wow actually directly addressing huge increases in college costs as a result of massive federal backstopping.

Damn straight, bout time someone called out higher education for rising tuition costs instead of just bandaging the issue with financial aid.

Neil is dropping truth bombs on Twitter.

Well, infrastructure improvements gives a broader segment of the population jobs.

But yeah.

That chair graphic was a terrible design. Color choices overlapped incorrectly.

This is a pretty extensive education plan! Scorecard should be interesting. People are going to be pissed when their local college fails.
