The general packaging of Republican speeches just doesn't resonate with me at all. I don't think that "moral decline" is relevant to any of the problems we're facing right now, but hey, Marco Rubio decided to bring that up anyways.

I'm still laughing about the water bottle thing, too.

OH my god that is fucking hilarious.

FOX NEWS; already calling for his candidacy. Can relate to the little people now...

Love how he blames the government for the housing crisis. Republicans will protect us from those banks ....... right?

I hope the Hispanic population doesn't buy his BS.

Yeah, I'm not sure how you make the jump that government caused the housing crisis. I'm pretty sure greedy bankers caused that one (most of who were republicans). Maybe he's arguing that the lack of government regulations allowed it to happen? That's a he'll of a jump.

If SNL doesn't do a Rubio SOTU response/excessive sweating scene from Airplane sketch out of this I'll have lost all faith in them.

Watching Rubio's speech on Boehner's youtube site.

Presidents in both parties – from John F. Kennedy to Ronald Reagan – have known that our free enterprise economy is the source of our middle class prosperity.

But President Obama? He believes it’s the cause of our problems. That the economic downturn happened because our government didn’t tax enough, spend enough and control enough. And, therefore, as you heard tonight, his solution to virtually every problem we face is for Washington to tax more, borrow more and spend more.

This idea – that our problems were caused by a government that was too small – it’s just not true. In fact, a major cause of our recent downturn was a housing crisis created by reckless government policies.

Wow.

This is not a speech. This is a comforting rehash of GOP dogma designed to help Republicans sleep at night.

Exactly, it's not like the Republicans would increased regulations on banks. No idea why they even bring shit like this up.

Generation that caused America's decline... got a nice ring to it. ;-)

I honestly don't think any forward progress of significant value will get done for at least a decade. A lot depends on the 2020 election/census year. The majority of people in power now just aren't pragmatic enough, and are too out of the loop to fully understand the effects (and legislate with appropriate acumen) of rapidly advancing technology. Things won't really be looking up until the baby boomers no longer hold much political sway.

Rand Paul: Freeze all spending or we're in danger of having our credit rating downgraded.

Yes, that's the worst that'll happen if we completely stop all government spending.
