NFL Week 9 Thread: Kissed By a Coach On The Grey

Also, I cannot get over how everytime that someone bets FMT on a Niners game, the Niners freakin win. He's got to have made over $100 by now by just betting on GAF.

i lost the eagles and bears games this year :(

but i've won the vikings and rams games to off-set that! i'm still up by triple digits here at gaf on the 49ers! thank you nolan!

p.s. i have a feeling maestro may pull a cubsfan. he PMed me that his paypal was hacked and so we couldn't transfer money that way. then i responded with send a eb or best buy giftcard but he hasn't responded yet. just seems like he thought it would be a free $50, what a mistake on his part

I hate people that go back on their bets, but would be front and center if their team won...

I dont like him to begin with because of his confusing typing style and the rambunctious nature of 95% of his posts, but reneging a bet is some low sh**

I think it only paid for that game he sent cold. There's no way he's ahead this year.

Ban Maestro

Horrible football weekend! Was out of town in NYC since Tuesday.. forgot to do my pickem OR update my fantasy rosters.. and the Bucs loss. :(

if you honestly doubt a 7-2 run you are possibly the most ****ing ridiculous person I've ever met. Enjoy that custom title for another 9 days buddy

Uh oh....now they gotta go 7-1 the rest of the way! Can they do it?!

If Maestro gets banned for flaking on the bet(not saying he is or anything. I mean shit, it's only been a few hours.) Cubsfan should also be banned because he still owes me $20 from a bet he never paid.

What a douche.

HOw come EVERY single person whos done the Cowboys higlights made a "T.O. must have been a sleep on that pass" joke.. Its not original, its not funny.

OK, it seems this Urlacher stuff might be garbage. As far as I can tell, the only evidence anyone has is Ditka saying something about it. And Ditka wasn't exactly reliable on Strahan.

Chiefs watch
Current Record: 5-3
Ok. We won the STL game today and did it fairly convincingly, although we came out with several less players than we started with. We lost 3 of our 5 best starters on D (Hali, Johnson, Wesley, Law) and we also lost one of the best Guards in the league, Bryan Waters. I'll have to wait until we learn more about these injuries before really commenting on their impact, other than a big "oh shit" if those D starters don't come back.

ONE THING YOU DIDN"T KNOW ABOUT THE CHIEFS BUT YOU"RE ABOUT TO FIND OUT: The Chiefs swept the NFC west this year. "Big deal," right? Not exactly, but it's worth noting that Denver has lost one of them, and San Diego still has 2 of them left, while Denver has 3. This kinda thing has playoff implications in the best division in football. The assumption here is that KC will split the division games from here out.

Two weeks ago, I predicted that the Chiefs would go 3-1 over this 4 game stretch with (@STL, @MIA, OAK, and DEN). I will stick by that, although I thought STL would be the game we could realistically drop and be cool with that. Now, though...I think we can still beat MIA after an emotional game against CHI. I mean...Joy Harrington is going to realize he's Joy Harrington any moment now. And KC isn't exactly CHI in the offensive department. I don't think it will be a shellacking by any stretch of the imagination, but I think KC has to win these types of games if they want to make the playoffs.

KC's Next 4 games
@ MIA
Oakland (at home)
Denver (at home)
@CLE

Obviously, the Denver game should be a tough one at home, but we have to win that. I think the MIA game could end up being a trap, but dammit if it isn't winnable, which is why I'm going to say that the Chiefs will win all 4 of these games. Makes me feel weird, honestly.

Predicted Record: 9-3
Expected Record: 8-4

Also, I would like to remind everyone that LJ still has to run 1500 yards in 10 games to hit the 2k mark. That's 150 per. :|

That was week two weeks ago. He had 489 yards with 1511 exactly to go. Here are the updated results.

Week (Opp) - Total
0. .... (1-6) - 489
1. 155 (SEA) - 644
2. 172 (STL) - 816
3. .... (MIA) - ....
4. .... (OAK) - ....
5. .... (DEN) - ....
6. .... (CLE) - ....
7. .... (BAL) - ....
8. .... (SD) - ....
9. .... (OAK) - ....
10. .... (JAX) - ....

Now he only needs 148 yds. per game to get there. GO GO BAD LARRY!

I'll let Leinart go pretty cheap. I may hold on to Romo atleast one more wake, as I don't fully trust Eli against the Bears.

Very true....I did post something earlier...but it wasn't good enough. Thanks to the 49ers for punishing the cheating wannabe playoff team called the vikings.

Oh man just got back from the Borat movie. VERY NICE funny shit yo!

But it just gets better!

Vick exposed as a fraud.
Vikings lose to SF and basically confirm that they will NOT make the playoffs.
Bears lose to the dolphins at home!
KC slams the Rams and helps out the Hawks!
Steelers lose again confirming that they were the true losers of the SB!

HAHA good day baby!

thank you brother. now we become enemies once more with our ultimate showdown in 2 weeks.

also, eminem there is nothing i hate more than someone who welches on a bet. seriously, i can stand any type of trash talking, i can stand any kind of gloating after the fact, but when someone makes a bet and doesn't pay up it makes my blood boil even if i am not involved in the bet. again not accusing maestro of this but just saying in general it is a bitch thing to do.

I agree, sir. It was especially funny that Cubsfan just stopped posting in the MLB thread after that. He still posted randomly in other threads, but he never touched the MLB thread again.

You know, it'd be super if the Steelers came out on the field to the Red Hot Chili Pepper's "Give it Away Now" to commemorate their newfound status as the turnover machines of the NFL.

I just remembered that I wanted to give a big fat F U to Sean Salisbury, Mark Schelereth and whoever the other asshat was that did that stupid ESPN prediction show before the season started. They had the Cowboys and Redskins coming out of the NFC East to be playoff teams. I wish I could find the rest of their predictions.

Way to go analysts, proving once again that you are paid to know this shit and can't do any better than some schlub off the street like myself. ****ing jerkoffs.

The Steelers are so horrible.

They don't even have injuries to blame their shittiness on, except for the Messiah and his broken body.

At least the Pats lost last night in Foxboro. That is all that is keeping me going. If Brady wins another Superbowl I am giving up on the NFL for good.

Finally back home from the game, and there's not much more to say other than what I've been harping on for weeks. Turnovers and a defense that won't make the key stop are the reason the team is as shitty as it is. The season is over. The players will try to dress it up, but it's over.

On the bright side, it was great weather (only a little chilly) to watch a game and the seats we had were pretty good, much better than being perched up in the endzone like we normally are. And I met and shook Lynn Swann's hand while walking to the stadium. He was telling fans he needed our vote. My response? We need your touchdowns.

After reading some article on ESPN, why is it that the Bengals always say they are better than every team that just beats them? I have no patience for that kind of crap. Just like I get mad when the Steelers saw "we are a great 2-6 team". When you are 2-6 you are not a great team. And it is not classy to say you are better than the team that just whipped your ass.

The season was over a few weeks ago dude. Other than against KC (and we even fumbled like crazy in that game), we have not played good football all year. And this goes against every single player on the team.

All you can do now is root against the Patriots and start looking at the draft. Oline and Dline need to shape up or ship out. We can't run, protect the qb, or pressure the opposing qb. All the signs of a shitty team.

Man I just saw the replay of that Skins/Cowboys blocked kick, how the hell do you call a 15 yard penalty on such an incidental/quick grab of the facemask? Looked like the guys thumb got caught in it for about half a second.

It was sad how much time Plummer had back there. Just sad. And Ike Taylor got beat like a rented mule. But that reverse the D allowed to go the house at the start of the second was just pathetic. Pathetic. I mean, when you can't get the basics down like holding onto the ball and tackling, then where are you?

To clarify, It's only TJ who keeps saying that, and yes, I think it is crap.

The Bengals are very average now, and they are showing their immaturity. I would not say the season is over, but they have a long, hard road ahead of them.

At least the Falcons guys came out and said, "hey, we stunk up the joint". That's probably the only positive thing that occured. They didn't make excuses, just said they didn't execute and got beat, bottom line.

I would guess Arizona or San Francisco.

I have seen every Steelers game this year and the Steelers are making it look impossible to get to the quarterback, protect the quarterback, and hold onto the ball. These are things that pretty much every team in the NFL does better than us.

Dunno WTF happened to this team and it hurts even more because we would have a great chance to repeat in this current landscape if we played like last year. Oh well, maybe we will get some beast of a D-lineman in the draft. Or maybe we can get someone for the left side of the line who understands it is ok to touch the pass rushers. Anything but a ****ing wide receiver.

Bengals are kind of in the boat as Pittsburgh (only not as shitty). They are almost the same team as last year, but it seems like everyone on the team is having a down year. Don't get down though, at least your team doesn't fumble the ball 7 times a game!

I'd say that in terms of being a relevant team, the Steelers are down, but not out. It's stupid mistakes that are making them lose games. Like the stats said, the Steelers are BETTER this year and about the same, only slightly worse in defense. It's stupid shit like fumbles that even a high school football player wouldn't make, injuries, etc. that killed the team's chances and confidence this year.

Yeah that shit annoyed me when I read the article, and the game really comes down to the same old adage... don't leave the outcome of the game in the refs hands... cause they'll f*ck you every time.

Speaking of refs, did we get the JV squad for our game or what.... :lol

There were bad calls, bad no calls, for both the Falcons and the Lions.

Agreed. The best teams OVERCOME the mistakes on the ref's part.

About the Steelers though: let's be honest. Were they a legitimate champion in every sense of the word? Sure, you don't win the SB by accident, but I've honestly never seen a more average SB winner in the history of my viewership (since '89).

They were a 6th seed that broke Palmer's leg, caught Indy at a funeral, exposed Plummer for what he was, and got tons of calls their way in the SuperBowl.

I won't say that they didn't deserve the ring, but I will say that they weren't even close to the best team in the NFL in '06. Hell, they weren't even top 5! Why is everyone surprised that an above average team that is missing tons of its integral parts and had tons of weird shit happen to them might be returning to the pack? C'mon kids. You should've all expected this. They weren't that good in the first place!

That doesn't explain why our special teams is now the worst in the league and why our defense started to suck balls (with no significant injuries or changes in personal).

Ben threw another 3 interceptions yesterday... were they poor decisions or tipped balls? (didn't see the game)

Steelers aren't playing their game. Yesterday, Parker averaged 5 ypc, and Davenport averaged 7, yet they only ran the ball 16 times. 16 Rush vs. 54 passes. They need to get back to steeler football where they run 35-40 times a game and throw maybe 20. Do you think its just by chance that pretty much every great D has an offense that commits to the run? Chargers, Broncos, Bears, Ravens, etc.. Yet defenses who've struggled pass way more than they should: Rams, Colts, Iggles, Bengal-Tigggers etc..

Doesn't matter how good your defense is, if the guys are sucking wind by the 2nd or 3rd quarter, they're going to struggle.

DarienA said:

Ben through one that was a bad decision that he had no time to make(before planting, two Broncos linemen were about to hit him, and two more had broken through the protection), so he threw it to the corner and Champ picked it off. He probably should have launched it out of bounds, but he can't be blamed for the offensive line deciding not to block.

Another was a third and very long, he threw it deep and it got picked off at the 3. Some people are saying this is just as good as a punt, I say bullshit, he could have gone underneath and gotten some of the yardage back. They were in a position on the field where Cowher may have gone for it on fourth down because a field goal was out of the question and a punt wouldn't have done much.

The last was in the closing seconds of the game, he was just trying to get a score before time ran out so they had even a small chance at winning with an onside kick. This was one of those picks that only count for stats and had no real effect on the game, because it was already clearly out of hand.

All in all, he made one horrible pass when it counted, one bad throw that was as much the fault of protection as it was his, and one pass that didn't matter at all. Of note, however, is that his worst pass of the game(an attempted screen that got thrown directly into the arms of a Broncos defensive lineman) was dropped.

I don't remember what they said but I remember this being brought up on the Colts forum last year after the Colts beat them.
