I'd say 99% of the times I've seen this happen, the guy just won't get a clue, even after the girl tells him outright she's not interested in anything more than being friends. Dudes just won't let go.

Her brother...that could very well be the case. Anyone thinking to win a woman with money or show her how much he admires her with physical stuff is fooling themselves. I feel bad for the dude, but if she has a BF and he has any class, Juan is going to cry later on.

Wasn't the last comment just a joke? I can see this being taken out of context simply to make it funnier. Regardless, who the hell buys a girl a car? Outside of her family or husband? As a boyfriend of I certainly wouldn't buy her a vehicle.

She should have returned it to him and let him know where their relationship stands, accepting something like that is a real shitty move.

But he's also a sad idiot who will hopefully in the future learn why he was an idiot. If not he may become perpetually stuck in woman-hating mode and post at men's rights forums for the rest of his life.
 
I like to think that she doesn't know he likes her...but then again, my best friend is a guy and there's no way in hell he'd give me girly stuff like that for valentine's day(or any holiday really). I would make fun of him so hard. She has to know, right? I mean, most guys looking to relationship level up are not. subtle.
