Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate announced for Wii U/3DS, coming to West, no 3DS online

(Also, I consider it a good thing that 4 is doing away with underwater.)

This is the worst thing with 4. I love the claustrophobia and added intensity of underwater fights, think it controls fine, plus Lagiacrus is my favorite monster design. And it's just nice to be able to dive under the sea - kinda wish they kept a pool there even if they cut out underwater monsters.

Fighting underwater was okay.

Being able to jump into the water to run away from a boss is boring. Swimming through multiple water zones to get to a boss is boring- God knows that if I had a choice between swimming through three zones or running through four or five, I'd prefer running any time the game didn't just drop me into the water.

The quality of the flooded forest as a place to roam is up for debate.. but I liked it while fighting. I hope they put sea sports back in MH4G.

It's not about the looks! My friends used to mock my character because he looked like a clown, but his skill set was great.

It is for me though. Part of the fun for me is getting badass skills while still looking the biz. I'd never wear a set I don't like the aesthetics of no matter how good the skills are. Same in any other game.
My nicest set in Tri has Punishing Draw, Critical Draw, Focus, Recovery Speed +1 and Heat Cancel (Lo) and still looks good (imo):

I only watched the Europe stream, don't know what happened in the US one, but in the Europe one they showed off the circle pad pro XL as well.

afaik Nintendo is publishing the game in Europe, but Capcom is publishing in the US. It was the same deal as MH Tri too. That's probably why the bundle is EU only.... just my guess though.

Still not sure if it's cheaper to get the bundle or the console and game separately. I don't need a pro controller, and without it, the console bundle would probably be a lot cheaper...

on the other hand, that is a nice box...

btw: is the 3ds power adapter and the pad power adapter the same thing? same connector and such?

I wish I had a picture of my set, a fashion disaster...

Also, 1136 hours. lol

Looking forward to it, all of my friends with 3DS's are getting it.

In fact I have several friends who will be buying a 3DS just to join in on the fun :D

This is why we can't have nice things

I think most people did.

New system = hardcore
Old system = casual

I blame Nintendo.
(they changed it back on MHP3)
These guys know what's up. Different combinations = ton of variety of customized loadouts/ranges/weight/etc. Crafting that perfect gun to suit my needs (along with the custom armor) was a blast in Tri. Half of my 20 saved sets are bowgun sets and I have like 4 or 5 sets committed to memory as well. <_<

Though part of the awesomeness of customized bowguns may have to do with how shitty the set bowguns in Tri are. Here's hoping that's not the case in Ultimate.

Lame. NoA should of published here too or at least really help Capcom market it.

Oh god shitty valentine redeemed !

I was waiting for this to happen, I'm going to buy BOTH.

The nintendo direct just made my (already almost over) day.

Gogo Amazon !

I keep waffling on whether or not I'm going to pick this up on the WiiU. I don't have any "real" friends who own a WiiU. If I buy a WiiU Pro Controller can I use that to play split screen co-op? Will the game be fun if I play single player only? Convince me MHGaf.

Am I right in thinking that any progress in the demo will transfer over to the full game?

Interesting thought. I was just assuming it would be like the Tri demo though. You pick a sample monster and then you pick an arena style preset armor loudout and have 20 or 30 minutes to kill the monster.

I mean, it was almost a forgone conclusion on my part that it would not be any actual in game progression going on. Who knows though.

Any good noob guides? It's gonna be my first MH game.

Back when I lurked here, there was a link to a youtube vid on sleep bombing Alatreon in the Tri OT. Later that uploader did a full LP of Tri using every weapon type available to you at every step of the game. It only has 6 of the weapon classes in TriU, but its still very informative. Just look through for weapon and monster combinations that interest you.

Yeah, this isn't a demo in the sense of "here's the first X hours of the game" but "here's some sample monsters and equipment from two points in the game".

Which is probably a better plan cause MH games take a while to wind up especially to the more impressive monsters.
