Converted my HSS-0130 that I just got last week to a one-player shooter stick. Took a little bit of effort but worth it.
Original stick as stock. You can see the buttons are a slightly different color than the balltops. This has to do with age and also that they are not actually Seimitsu buttons:
Since there is precious little on the web about what is actually in this stick I post pics here. First time getting into a stick in a couple of years.
Here is the PCB where the two start buttons and two 8-button player sides connect
All the buttons are Sega proprietary and are soldered. Each side is a slightly different layout and PCB differs to accomodate. Sticks are the favored LS-32.
I'm not using the old panel but the buttons are connected via a little notch on the panel. so If you just want to switch buttons on this stick then a little filing or dremeling will be need to get rid of those notches:
The two start buttons get their own little PCB:
Here is the single player Astro panel's wiring I'm replacing it with. I had an extra I got a few years back...Akihabara shop makes you buy the single player panels in packs of two: one pink and one green. The green wire thing is a ground for the cabinet, but I'm just leaving that in there, coiled around the LS-32.
New panel put in place. I'm going to be using the green side PCB:
Here I've chopped all the wires and grounds from the arcade panel and then simply resoldered them into the original PCB that came in the HSS-0130. I've coiled the grounding wire around the LS-32 since it will not be used. Put this back in, plug it to the original PCB then seal and everything is good to go!
Final stick with new one-player panel for shooters!
