Raise the flame shield: Your "controversial" gaming opinion.

Consoles that boast the best graphics and performance are a joke and have been since the N64(which is the only time where it was wasn't).

Nintendo deserves to fail.

Living off past glories for nearly 20yrs.

You can only play Mario & Zelda themed games so many times.

Go software only, leave the hardware to those that can.

Valve games are overrated. Grand Theft Auto IV is complete pile of garbage. Mass Effect 2 is better than Mass Effect 1. The Metal Gear series has always had a bad story, and Rising isn't going to ruin the canon any more than Guns of the Patriots already did.

I enjoyed Final Fantasy X-2 much more than Final Fantasy XII. I don't get what's so great about XII; forgettable story, boring characters, and a battle system that gets more broken the further you get.

Also, Rikku is an awesome character.

  • Uncharted 1 >>> Uncharted 2
  • Paper Mario Sticker Star >>> Paper Mario >>> Super Paper Mario >>> PM2
  • Final Fantasy VI >>> VIII >>> V >>> Who gives a shit
  • God of War >>> God of War III >>> Who gives a shit
  • Alpha Protocol is the best Western game of the generation besides Deus Ex: HR
  • PS3's exclusives have been uniformly mediocre all generation
  • Wind Waker >>> Skyward Sword >>> Rest of the series
  • I hate the soundtracks in FFXIII and XIII-2
  • Torchlight and Torchlight 2 >>>> Diablo 1 and 2

I still have no clue why Zelda doesn't resonate with me

I understand why others fawn over it, for me it's just a confusing series

I saw the history laid out and that confused me more

What's so damn special, it feels like I'm missing out

The game never resonated with me, I never went I need to play Zelda, sure I've tried it here and there, but there was no OMG Must Play this shit stat!

Maybe I'm just broken towards it

Fallout 3 > New Vegas. Yes, NV has a better story, but I find that worthless when it's in a dull world. DC was a masterpiece with amazing locations to explore.

I hope Half-Life 3 sucks just so the Valve super fanboys can shut up for a while. It really has to blow though because Left 4 Dead 2 didn't even stop these fanboys.

Any game that puts more into the narrative than gameplay is absolute shit. If a developer cares more about a story than gameplay, they need to be making movies, not video games. LA Noire and Heavy Rain was one of the most dullest games I've ever played, but would have made a fantastic movie. I still support great narrative in games, but not when the shift leans to the narrative and the gameplay suffers because of it.

Nintendo wii was the best console of all time.

Wiiu Should have been continuation of wii without complicated controller and simple games.

Someone here on GAF pointed out the most magical thing abut WiiU

It was a mind-blowing, holy shit I need to go ly down scenario

They stated that WiiU was the right concept, but Nintendo half-assed/rushed it

Rather than the WiiU controller be the Gamepad, it should've been the console

$350 goodness built into that bitch

You take your console every where with you
You get a dongle to stream your games to your TV

So rather than be tethered to the system, your really have freedom

Almost a hybrid console/handheld

Why Play "Off" TV, rather than Play "On"

I don't want an Xbox 360, I have absolutely no desire to get one since I own a PS3, and I probably won't be supporting Microsoft next gen either.

All games that use the right analog stick for aiming should also support using Move for that purpose. If possible, Sony should include that in the SDK.

Holy shit that would have been fantastic. Just imagine it, you can just carry it around and play it on any TV at any time. My god they passed up an opportunity...

Superman 64 is fun. I'm serious. I actually love just dicking around, flying through rings, and throwing cars and shit in training mode.

I think the next Sony and MS consoles really aren't going to be that great and I don't plan on purchasing them.

The biggest reason why I feel this way is the focus on the media aspects of them.

It just seems like the gaming aspect is taking a backseat (moreso MS than Sony).

Diablo 3, flawed as it is, is a much more fun game than any top down ARPG not named Diablo 2.

Also, JRPGs are worthless as far as storytelling goes.

Counter Strike still shits on every modern FPS

Valve destroyed Team Fortress 2

Mischeif Makers was the best N64 game

Fur Fighters was the best PS2 game

Story has been and always will be more important than gameplay.

Most Mario and Zelda games are boring as hell. Also the formula is really getting stale. I just don't get the popularity. SMG is alright, Wind Waker is alright, but that's about it.

Also Gears of War sucks.

I think plot, visuals, and setting are often more important than gameplay.

I agree in most cases. There's very few games that I play purely for gameplay. Tales of Graces F is the latest, I started fucking hating the characters by the end of the game but the gameplay kept me hooked.

I've finished quite a few games because of the plot and/or characters, when the gameplay was horrible or just not to my tastes.

I really didn't like FFXII. I never was interested in the world or story of the game, and I hated how much it felt like I was playing FFXI offline. Not really sure why it gets so much praise.

God of War is boring and overly repetitive. The only thing it has going for it is its brutal kills.

I liked FFXIII.

JRPGs should go back to being turn based.

Nintendo will not exist after Miyamoto.

Actually I'm thankful MS is going down this route, as it's made my decision to go with PS4 a guilt free, painless decision.

They should worry if they're losing customers like me...

You're naive into thinking Sony won't go this route, or you already made your decision and are trying to justify it more. If it isn't one of those, you need to stop paying attention to rumors. You'll be surprised how little those gaming blogs know what Microsoft and Sony are doing. Don't underestimate what they'll type up for hits.

Well they've already lost me on the desktop with that Windows 8 abomination.

So it's pretty clear where they're heading, and it's not a journey I'm interested in.

I don't believe mice are the best way to control a first person shooter.

Go grab a gun, or of something similar size and weight and tell me how quickly you can turn from side to side, 180 or 360. Much more akin to the movement offered by a controller, but then again for aiming where you're pointing yeah the mouse makes more sense since you can quickly adjust within a narrow range.

My point is all the "HURR DURRR KB+MOUSE 4 LIEF NIQQA!" is ridiculous because at best KB+M is just as bad as the controllers people claim to loath.

I have 2

Ken Levine is over rated

I enjoy the worlds he creates but the combat and other gameplay elements are awful. At least in my opinion.

and,

Skyward Sword is absolute garbage.

I think Assassin's Creed 1 is the best in the series.
Each assassination was an event in that game, something you really looked forward to. Sure, the gameplay leading up to them was a chore, but the pay-off was worth it.

In the sequels you could just run around and kill the targets like any random NPC. I gave up on the series a few hours into Brotherhood.

Mass Effect is probably the shittiest RPG I have played to date and they are barely RPG's

Skyrim is really boring about 5 hours in.

I hate Mario ( since I got whooped by him in SSM :( )

This one may not be controversial but

Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed > Any recent Mario Karts

They're all great but I was really hooked onto the Sonic game. I didn't expected it to be soooooo good.
