3DS Streetpass Experiences

5000?!? Where do you live? I've only had my 3DS for like a month but I only have 10 :/
Japan. I've had this profile since the JP launch. (transferred from my old standard 3ds)

My other profile (on the regular 3ds) only has about 500 as I don't use it/take it with me very often.

I got Dan "Shoe" Tsu on Streetpass today on BART.

Japan is Streetpass heaven.
I've had my 3DS since right after launch. I live in the most densely populated state in the US, brought it most everywhere where I'd be in crowds, multiple plane flights, ect. Got about 250 hits total. Spend 12 days in Japan in December, got 400+ hits, including 90 in one day. Fun times, my daughter was flipping out with all the hits she was getting.

Surely streetpassing must lose its allure in Japan. I've scraped my way to 32 hits in two months and it's still exciting when I see that green light.

Why? New games that use it are released all the time, so there's always something new to do with it.

Dragon Quest VII is going to be HUGE in Japan for StreetPass seeing how Dragon Quest IX's map tag mode is surely the basis for making this sort of thing part of the OS this time around.

Pokémon will probably push StreetPass fairly well across the seas.

Yeah since I've moved to Kentucky the only time I ever get streetpasses are at Target with the 3DS demo model. I also got two at some super rural Apple festival in a town of 4k people (I still don't understand this). Even living in a big college town I still don't get any.

And we don't really have any cons around here so there's not really anymore opportunities for streetpassing :(

I guess it's up to the games to do something interesting with it. I've only got Mario Kart and 3D Land as titles with streetpass functions.

Man, the bad thing about getting out of school will be no more Streetpasses.
I don't get too much, but I get like 10-20 regulars a month.

I'm getting closer to 9000 Tags! Currently at 8801 right now, but that will change soon! If you live in NYC (or can get to it easily), you should go to Nintendo World Store this Friday (as well as Next Friday) for Fire Emblem Double Duels. You'll get a bunch of tags there!

I live in a quiet cul-de-sac in a quiet corner of England. StreetPasses have been steady for me because I frequent the nearest town centre and cinema quite often. I'll usually get two or three whenever I'm in built up areas like that, not as many as I'd like but the pink puzzle pieces are slowly rolling in.

Once I woke up and glanced at my bedside table and at that moment the little green light flashed. Without even going anywhere I StreetPassed someone who, for some reason and just that once, must have wandered into my cul-de-sac.

Another time I received a tag and the timestamp was while I was driving, so I must have passed another 3DS-owner on the road.

Frustratingly a few times I've seen people in public with a 3DS but the lack of a StreetPass suggested they probably had no idea about the feature and never bothered turning on their wifi.

Street-passing is still plenty of fun in Japan. I'm on about 3600/over 3000 now on my 3DS (transferred from Blue->White-> XL Silver) and now that I'm in Tokyo, the count is increasing steadily every day.

You would not believe the amount of DQVII and AC Street-passing Miis there are. I'm always surprised when I see something not one of those two games being played.

I've met a handful of people who have simply never accessed that part of their 3DS. I'm always excited to see a new friend with a 3DS only to get confused about why I haven't recieved their Mii. After looking into it, it always turns out that they simply haven't started the Street-passing app yet since buying the system - crazy!

Yeah I got an Animal Crossing StreetPass and spent the next few hours in a fetal position crying. June is ages away :'(

Worst part is that we get thousands of Japanese tourists in Madrid everyday, this is not going to be last time until we can get to play it...

Sometimes I'll get a streetpass hit when driving home, either from someone I pass who is standing at a bus stop or from someone driving in the other lane. I picked up a few at a hockey game yesterday.

I have two 3DS consoles (EN and JP) and they seem to have different search times. One will pick up a pass when the other doesn't, yet on occasion they pick up the same guy. I would rather they both picked up the passes at the same time so I can get more pink puzzle pieces. It's a little annoying to see only one green light.

So how good is going to Disney World for streetpasses? Had a friend go and spend a day or two down there and got a couple dozen. Now he wants to go back in June for a few more days. I've had some moderate success getting hits from random places, ranging from getting half a dozen in one day at the mall to one or two here and there from Target or Walmart or GameStop.

Anyone been to Disney World and get a lot? I'm guessing it's a pretty good place for them. I sorta want to have one of those weeks where I get a ton of them just for the fun of getting puzzle pieces and filling out my map.

One more run of Secret Quest and I'm done with it forever! Feels like I've been chipping away at it for years, even with 2 3DSs in the house! Just gotta go back and get the last few hats from Quest 2 then....

I got a 3DS XL yesterday. I live in a pretty compact neighborhood with houses all on top of one another. I've seen kids running around, and I live really close to a college, so I was hoping I'd have something on my first night. No luck. :(

Had to drive to the airport today and hoped to grab something there. Still no luck. :(

Hoping my trip to Boston next month proves a fruitful dive into the world of StreetPass.

Anyone know how close you have to be to StreetPass with someone? I work the night audit at a hotel and one of my duties is do a walkthrough of all the hallways and make sure everything's quiet (it's a small hotel, 54 rooms). If I'm about 15 feet away and through a couple walls, is it likely I'll still get it?

Very likely. Sounds like the perfect job for streetpassing!

I was heading to Best Buy resecently. As I was walking in I saw some guy walking out playing his 3DS. I thought 'Oh sweet, streepass for me' As I thought that I hear the guy say "Alright, another streetpass!". It was great.

I've had one since launch almost. Take it with me everyday on my commute through public transportation in DC. 125-ish hits. Damnit tourists! You're not doing this right!

Sigh, and I just finished the Fire Emblem puzzle over the weekend. Now my JP 3DS is one puzzle less special (and I've already exchanged the two not-pink pieces I had for the Brain Training puzzle between the two).

And since it's a hotel, you're likely to get hits from multiple regions too! :O

So has anyone here had their 3DS stop receiving Streetpasses?

My wife and I had been collecting all the Puzzle Swap pieces and playing Find Mii together since we got our 3DSXL's at launch. Starting today we have not Streetpassed each other at all. Usually we'll Streetpass each other twice a day. She brought hers to work today and Streetpassed other people.

From reading online, it seems there might be a glitch where you can't Streetpass people you've previously met if the 3DS is ever drained of battery completely or if the battery is disconnected for too long.

I've never disconnected the battery from this system, but I do think I saw an error message yesterday that made me restart my system.

It sounds like the only solution is to do a factory reset on my system. If I do this, I should be able to redownload my games, but are my save files for digital games lost?

Has anyone encountered this issue? Is there any other alternative?

1) try turning wifi (and unit) off and on, that sometimes does it

2) specific to that glitch you're citing, ive gotten around this myself by changing avatar hats. don't know why, but that did it! i was able to change right back to the one i wanted, but streetpasses resumed. worth a shot?

Here in London I regularly, daily, get streetpasses. Sometimes up to 10 a day (but usually 3-4 if I am in central). And new people too, although I do seem to meet some familiar faces.

I think part of the problem is Streetpass hasn't really been incorporated into many new games of late in a meaningful manner. Infact, since Kid Icarus, maybe, I can't think of a game that's really used it. Pokemon and Animal Crossing will hopefully change that though and make people carry their 3DS's with them more.

I woke up from a dream this morning where I was at a convention and I forgot to bring my 3DS.

Man, I really kick myself for not bringing my 3DS to the Legend of Zelda Symphony! I must have missed out on a couple hundred passes :( I did bring to the Final Fantasy concert though. I got over a hundred from that one, including Jeremy Parish. That was cool.

Yeah man. Change your hats.

Yeah, feels like untapped potential at this point. There's only so many Mario 3D Land power-ups I can take.

Hopefully Fire Emblem and Monster Hunter have at least something momentarily diverting.

Thanks! I changed my hat, and after a few more hours I am now getting Street Passes from my wife again!

Haha that's cool. I remember that guy from the GamePro days, wow. I take the Blue Line some mornings and afternoons. Were you in the city?

I take BART in from the East Bay to Embarcadero every day. We should arrange a sf streetpass day-like at Union Square at lunchtime. I could sit there and watch them all come in!!

Bah, I've only gotten 5 or so passes in my one year+ of having this 3DS and I carry it to any new place I go/to class/work almost everyday (gotta get those play coins so I can watch myself get the same puzzle pieces five times in a row!). Most I've had was two when I went down to Florida, got them at Busch Gardens. Got one in some random town event one day, one at work, and one in a college town.

I miss that little green light...

I've had about 225 or so streetpasses but about 99% of them are from Cons. Whenever I leave the house I never take my 3DS out, I really doubt anyone around here does the same.

I live on campus so I actually get quite a few Streetpasses per day. However, most of them are terrible, terrible people who never have any puzzle pieces that I don't.
That said, I'm about 15 pieces away from completing every puzzle that I am aware of, so I guess that's something to be said more of me than the people I Streetpass.
