I read ALOT of tweets last week about reviewers waiting to review it untill it hits the shops.. something about people had to play and review the game at a specific location.

the 5th of next month i just gotta stay strong

Whoa, whoa, WHOA - You can actually SEE the city of the people you are in region with from your own city, see their progress and get effected by what they do? Man this game is shaping up to be a gem.

Yeah, but it's not real time. Update time is around 2 or 3 minutes.

In the closed beta, each city could see the buildings from the other one.

those two guys on youtube might be the most annoying thing i have ever heard

I clicked on their video and now youtube is recommending collegehumor videos to me ;-; But really, I don't understand why people enjoy listening to such hyperactive, annoying people but different strokes I suppose.

Oh no I didn't expect real-time but that is still really cool. Love it.

Yeah I'm glad they improved it. I hope that's not just because they were playing it locally at the Maxis office, and that it will actually be that fast online in the real world.

In the closed beta, service sharing was horribly laggy and didn't really work for me at all.

Another dev beta lets play, with a guy playing on minimum settings who doesn't know what he's doing.

The game looks like ass on minimum.

This one is nice in how it shows the region sharing services.

Is that the maximum size? Because those city look awfully small...

Yep. All maps are 2 kilometers on each side.

They hope to increase map sizes later, but who knows when that'll happen.

Think of this SimCity like a reboot. It's why they didn't name it SimCity 5, since it doesn't use the same kind of simulation engine as SimCities 1 through 4.

Huh, the game looks great. However, it doesn't really look 100% like Sim City, but something a little different. Still great, though.

They've deliberately rebooted the series and have tried to get away from what was essentially 15 odd years of updating the tile-based mechanic that first arose in 1989.

There are going to be differences but remember there will be many advancements on this new game style, so things can only get better from what is already looking pretty good.

I am considering buying the official game guide.

Has anyone else ordered it? Is it worth doing so to understand more of the game mechanics?

I had not even considered getting the guide until I read some of the Dev Beta links in the OP. Wow. I will probably stick with the Neogaf thread and wiki for advice initially. But my word! Going broke late game in Simcity?! If Maxis has created a game that challenging, I will be impressed.

Hm, my brother sometimes uses my PC and I'm sure he'll use it more to play Simcity; I hope you can have multiple regions instead of just one (with the 2-3 sub regions or whatever) so he can just load up his save file, and I can do the same with mine.

The more I read of the dev beta impressions the less worried I am about city sizes. My experience with the 2 closed betas also makes this wait horrible.

I have the dvd version preordered and march 5 is so far away.

Same black screen here.....

Was a info message (about 10 minutes ago) that said there were some technical errors wich should be sorted soon.

EDIT: I have a timer on Wii U Pad (on that page), but not on my pc....? Weird.

is anyone on the OT?

It's taken.

Eh, the game shouldn't be that hard. I have a bias against strategy guides in general. Overpriced, glorified instruction manuals. The SimAnt manual. Now THAT, was a fucking instruction manual.

If you want to save money, just stick to the wikis and other internet help.
