PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

I can't help but be amused that they managed to select the only one of the God of War series I've actually owned, played and completed. Still, I have to acknowledge that it's a very solid addition.

As a small aside, there, I'm slightly surprised Sony have never added movies to Plus. It's something they're in a position to offer. It might be reluctance to be seen as anything other than a gaming service for image reasons.

adding movies to plus would be useless since we (lots of countries) do not have the movie service in the first place

Excellent advice, considering the install size of some games. Gran Turismo is taking up around 12gb of my 160gb slim I think, but I keep it on there because occasionally it's nice to fire it up and play. I should really delete it though.

Hahahaha. I hardly play GT5 but it's still there on my harddrive too Can't bear deleting it either. I noticed plus downloaded a GT5 update as well a few days ago for me. How nice of it. :-P

Fun isn't what I'd describe having to complete the Challenge of the Gods. I'd probably do it if I could save part way through doing those challenges.

I totally forgot about the Challenges. But they are doable. Just need some (a lot of) patience. My moto is usually, if someone else already did it, so can I!!!! :-P

Yup, just noticed the cloud save service. The good thing is, I tend to play at most two games at the same time so I'll probably manage with the smaller hdd. Download a game, finish it and delete it. Start downloading the next one

I usually only play one game at a time, but I love hoarding games and looking at their lil icons on my xmb. :-P
The little Playstation 1 loving 8-year old child inside me is giggling, I have a feeling I'll go on full Playstation fuck yes mode next gen again, like I did with PS2.

I don't own another console, but if the price of the ps4 is alright and the content of Plus stays the same (or improves) I know I'm staying with Sony next gen.

Not to mention that because of Plus I haven't bought a Vita games for ages. Gravity Rush, Lumines, Mortal Kombat and now this month MGS HD? Why, thank you Sony (and partners) ^_^

I really enjoyed that actually!

Most fun platinum is definitely the speed run though. Turned out it was pretty easy, but running like hell through everything (especially the later parts) was pretty intense, lol

The speed run was insane. Lol. I used one of the costume unlocks for beating the game and kept spammig magic on everything, running around like a maniac.

Worst/most annoying trophy for me was the
ascend the blades of hades without getting hit

The original God of War is my favourite storyline in the series BY FAR. It has some frustrating moments and I think the games have improved from a gameplay perspective incrementally throughout the series - but the original is still the one I look upon with the most fondness. <3

Just had a thought, didn't they patch in remote play for the GOW collection? If so I would assume this will be included. Be nice to be able to remotely turn on the PS3 and just kick back with GOW on the Vita.

Yes and yes. I have got to repeat this notion just because its true.

If Ascension wasn't so close I'd think about getting the last two trophies I need for the Plat in GoW (Challenge of the Gods and the speed run), GoW2 (Challenge of the Titans) and GoW3 (Challenge of Olympus). I did get the Plats for both PSP HD games though.

You should put any other games you're playing right now on hold and concentrate on getting those plats in preparation/celebration of the upcoming release of GoW:A. :-P

GoW3 Challenge of Olympus frustrated me a whole bunch. I remember i had given up on it. Like totally. Then a few months later I was like, wtf man, I should give this another go. I finished all the challenges in a heartbeat. :-P Maybe it'll be the same for you too!

Top news about GoW.

Aye. The original is my favourite in the whole series. SSM's ability to tell a story has really fallen off a cliff since.

it'll take you about a day to plat GoW 1 then since you need to rebeat the game and the challenges. GoW 2 and 3 shouldn't take you more then a few minutes for each because the challenges there are piss easy.

GoW HD is nice.
And wtf i'm reading here, 40 and 80 GB Ps3's and you got PS+? You bums, 2,5HDD are crazy cheap atm. Just invest in 30€ for a used 320/500 GB HDD.

I think it's time for me to switch to a bigger HDD, 120GB isn't cutting it with all these plus games. This one should work fine, right?

Last year, I was going to buy a new HDD for my PS3, and it was a real headache let me tell you. I was doing a lot of reading before I bought one, and it seems like a lot of HDDs are causing stuttering and/or other problems with PS3s, the one you linked is one of them.

As far as I remember, with Western digital drives you should look at their model numbers. Let's take for example WD5000BPKT and WD5000BEKT. If you spot the P in BPKT, it's got something called advanced format, and this causes stuttering. But if it's got an E as in BEKT, you should be good to go. I think that this also goes for BPVT and BEVT.

However. I remember hearing some people still having problems with the BEVT models. I don't know whether these are special cases, if it depends on the size of the drive or if others simply don't notice, but that's what I've heard at least. I am not sure whether these issues exist with the BEKT models or not though. Also, now I am not completely sure, but I believe that, even with BEKT, you should use some program called wdidle3 to disable head parking, which, as far as I understand, causes the drive to spin down after being idle for a bit. But again, I'm not sure whether this exists in BEKT or not.

What I did was buy a Samsung Spinpoint M7 Enhanced HM321HI 320GB. The Samsung M7 drives, as far as I know, will work great with PS3s, and I believe that the M7 Enhanced ones will as well. I haven't noticed anything wrong with it at least. If you get an M7 drive though, make sure you download a program called ESTOOL, connect the drive to your PC, boot into ESTOOL on the PC and set it to SATA150.

Getting a new HDD for my PS3 was much more of a headache than I thought it would be, but I'm glad I researched a bit before buying a new one.

Weird. I just bought a HDD, installed it, formatted it and it worked no problems. Didn't do any research. Didn't even know there are compatibility issues with certain drives. I kind of want to get a larger drive but then I will need a separate external HDD to back up all the stuff I already own right? So I will essentially need to buy two HDDs? Can you back up PS+ games onto an external HDD?

Is there anything particularly difficult about GOW's trophies?

I mean, a little challenge is nice but could I platinum it relatively straightforwardly?

Hrm, alright. Yeah I'm not sure if it's a matter of some PS3s being bad matches with certain HDDs or whatever is the case. Maybe it also is dependent on which games you play? But reading the comments about stuttering made me too afraid to buy without looking up which HDDs work fine.

I'm sorry but I don't really know the answer for your other questions though. Maybe it is possible to buy an HDD USB enclosure or something to use for that, saving you some money? Now I don't remember whether you can choose to backup save files, but not games, but if that's the case, maybe you could simply use some sort of USB memory, if that's possible? But I'm not sure whether save files are stored on the HDD though, heh.

EDIT: You can also download the games from your account again.

That's an interesting idea - even if they only started off by playing around with discounts for HD rentals they'd probably get me interested in a film service which, up to now, has left me totally disinterested. Wonder how successful the movie rental part of PSN is.

God of War HD is a nice extra treat - despite owning a ps2 and 3 I've never played one so up for giving it a go plus guessing it won't have a big impact on my hd space.

Only thing that you have to worry about is the challenge of the gods, i recall getting almost every single trophy except for the ones that involve the challenge of the gods in 1 playthrough.

Challenge of the Gods just takes time and replaying. Sure there are one or two that are batshit hard but they are so quick you can get through it.

I can beat Challenge of the gods no problem but God/Titan modes or whatever are just way beyond my ability.

Tried activating one of those free month codes from a while back but it didn't work. Still had enough in my wallet for 3 months of Plus, so I decided to bite. Just enjoyed the hell out of MGR so I'm willing to give Vanquish a shot.

But the ending of 2 and beginning of 3, so epic!

Very nice. I have a voucher for 30 days of PlayStation Plus that expires on March 31st. What would be the best time to activate it?

Depends on what games you want, what region store your using

It's always best to use code at the end of the month

That way when you activate, you get that months content and the following week gets next month content too!

Is that true or something you're just assuming?

I heard (from gaf in fact) that they were including the 49.99 as part of the 50 deal

4th
That's what I heard when the $10 back was first announced (also from GAF) so there may have been a confirmation otherwise since then.

store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com :)
Thanks for trying to help but i almost never use my computer really, smartphone almost can do all that things. And since there is no mobile version..

Its strange though the old store was imo perfect. Simple, fast.. Why change that? I really dont have slow internet but it is annoying.

Most of the time if you make changes you go a step forward.. This is not a step forward..

/rant :p

Heads up for UK peeps, Plus is 33% off on Game.co.uk so you get a year for £30:

Just a quick question on this deal and sorry I'm copying and pasting from a message I just sent a member:

The only question I have which I'm about to ask the thread now is will imputing a EU code on my EU account but on a NA console work? Second question, how does the site give out codes/have you ever used it before? If it was by email that would be perfect as you could just give me the code you get if it's by snail mail that may not work? I noticed a download button on the site which worried me a bit.
................................................................................................

If anyone can answer this question or has previous experience with this site and how they give out codes and can tell me that would be great thanks. And wilfare, your mailbox is full.

is there a method on how to pay for EU PS+ if I live in NA?
pre-paid cards?

you need EU PSN cards though and I don't know how they are handled. I unfourtunatly bought a $50 US PSN card thinking it would work and it failed. So be carefully. You definitely have to jump through some hoops but it's worth it I guess. The best method is the paypal method but that won't help you with the link I just reposted because you want the money to go directly into your PSN wallet (as you don't live in EU).

I'm 99% sure the answer to your first question is yes, but wait for someone that's done it to confirm.

For your second question:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/pla...ion-1-year-29-99-game-1476834?page=3#comments

You get the code as soon as you pay for it.
It's on the website GAME / your account.
*edit*
And in your email, but it's on the site anyway.

:)

The only reason I don't feel bad about buying a year of PS+ last week instead of this week is that I'm telling myself the $10 credit I got in my inbox was because they started the promo early by accident. No matter what anyone says, I'm sticking to that so I don't get upset. :P
