Yosuke actually made me miss Junpei. And that's something I didn't think was possible.
What was wrong with Junpei? lolYosuke actually made me miss Junpei. And that's something I didn't think was possible.

They just don't knowAll you Junpei and Yosuke people have obviously never met Eikichi "Death Boss" Mishina!
Junpei was awesome.
I really like his character growth in that game, and his turnaround from an envious jerkass to a guy that really believes in the MC and values his friendship with him.
They just don't know![]()
Ah, I only remember his interactions with the superior FeMC. In that version, he attempts to whiteknight you. lol

Junpei? He does the total opposite. Actually, he's the only member of SEES who ever makes Mitsuru angry by implying FeMC can't be the leader because she's female.
Yosuke and Junpei have similar immaturity/insecurity issues(though the latter's tend to manifest themselves more in the form of sexist comments, especially near the beginning of the game if you chose the FemC, and faux-alpha-male bullshitting). But, while Junpei takes a huge step towards alleviating his problems, Yosuke only just manages to accept his without actually making a big effort to change.

eikichii did more than acting like a butt-monkey or telling me how awesome i was
that guy was pretty cool
The aforementioned white-knighting comes later during his social link. But yeah that caught me off guard with how unbelievably pissed he made Mitsuru there. Talking about shutting down his inferiority complex in a heartbeat.
In the very beginning yes.
But in his SL he basically does whiteknight you. It's about him finding out someone took pictures of FemMC in her gym uniform and was selling them on the campus.

If you want to be reductive like that, I could call Eikichi a narcissistic, dramatic asshole.
you'll never get me to budge on yosuke, thoughHis entire character felt dedicated solely to telling the player how awesome he is, even his S-link felt like the game highlighting how pathetic he is and how awesome you are by comparison.
Yes but when kanji accepted him, he said "it wasnt about a matter of guys or chicks" Its about his insecurities and fears of being rejected which stems back to him liking feminine hobbies and being treated rudely by girls in his childhood for it.
My biggest problem with the camping trip wasn't that I felt the writers were somehow agreeing with how Yosuke was acting. He's a high school kid, acting like a 6th grader, but that's his character. My problem was the game never allowing me to disagree with him right then and tell him before Kanji runs off, to stop being an asshole. Kanji says something like "I told you guys I'm not like that" inferring that I was agreeing with Yosuke.
Basically I really wanted an option to have my say, whether I felt uncomfortable with Kanji sleeping with us.
P3P is not cannon!![]()
The above is what I remembered when playing Perosna 4 Golden. Kanji was never gay.
Kanji was ridiculed at a very young age by female students for liking "girly" things such as dolls and arts/crafts. In response to not seem feminine, he did a complete 180 in attitude/appearance. Yukiko even mentions that when she attended school with him when they were younger he was a much different person. However, in doing a 180 in attitude/appearance, girls still didn't accept him because he was seen as a "biker" and trouble maker. This clearly exasperated the problem, and made him start to ponder that maybe he was just not compatible with females.
Also there are many scenes that allude to him being heterosexual/attractive to women:
1) Noise bleed while seeing Yukiko and Chia in swim suit
2) Blushing when seeing the females at Yukiko's hotel spring
3) Getting in bed with Chia(or was it Yukiko?) only to turn out to be that fat girl(whose name escapes me) in the hotel.
4) Demanding that Naoto joins the modeling contest
5) Wanting to see the girls in the traditional Japanese outfit
I'm sure I'm missing some.
P3P is not cannon!
I especially dislikein that game; becausethe ability to revive a certain character from deathis a HUGE humongous part in how Junpei develops as a character. The scene where his Persona evolves... that was chillingly powerful!her death
But that's just me![]()
The anime cleared it up.

I totally don't remember Junpei being an asshole in that situation... just the whole S-link thing where he feels obligated to help you because he wants to protect you. lolThe aforementioned white-knighting comes later during his social link. Man, maybe I need to replay P3P sometime... Asshole Junpei is totally something I've forgotten.Yosuke and Junpei have similar immaturity/insecurity issues(though the latter's tend to manifest themselves more in the form of sexist comments, especially near the beginning of the game if you chose the FemC, and faux-alpha-male bullshitting). Oh yeah, some of the changes drastically affect the story and how it plays out... but the FeMC is just a more interesting protagonist - especially considering she isn't trying to make it with the entire female cast.P3P is not cannon!

Endgame P4 spoilers:One of the best underlying aspects of Persona 4 is when you realize that Yosuke in the hospital room is acting just like his shadow was in the boss battle early on. It's subtle, but it really shows how much he still has to grow.

Junpei had an alcoholic abusive father. Patterns repeating and whatnot. But, while Junpei takes a huge step towards alleviating his problems.
Ugh, no. I like the anime more than many others did, but how they handled Kanji's issues in it could absolutely be said to be homophobic.
Welp, another reason for being happy of not watching the anime.

Well, when you have stuff like this that clearly displays the level of care they take when making it:

Is that Chie in two places at the same time?
The anime is so bad.
It's awesomely bad though.
Wow, what a dick!http://youtu.be/Cq6E1XoFH1k?t=2m48s
One example of Junpei being a jerk, as well as the scene where Mitsuru chews him out.
Yes. lolIs that Chie in two places at the same time?

Haha, this turned into a Persona 4 appreciation thread surprisingly fast.
Yep. The more Chie the better I say.
Anime was fine for what it was. Made for the fans.
One section in particular I found really bad.During the camping trip, the game never let me stand up for Kanji and made me watch while Yosuke basically said that Kanji would try to rape us at night, and we couldn't trust him.
Got it! Magic keywords were "kanji persona 4 arena ass joke"
Yosuke: "Kanji is...... Beefcake Emperor!? Noooooooo! I dont wanna be alone with him! I guess this what they meant by covering your ass for the worst..."
Yu: "Dont worry you'll be fine.."
Yosuke: "Do you mean me or my ass?"
oh man, this writing
Wah?
Is like saying that Archie Bunker was supposed to be taken seriously because he was the Dad of the show.
Bleh, at least they should have tried in making the scenario a bit more creative.
Guys getting pounded due to them getting found out peeking at girls? That's like, totally 10000000% Japanese-trope cliche-ridden....cliche, man.
