Is Disgaea vita just like Disgaea 3 for PS3?

it's the same base game except it has all of the dlc from the ps3 version (a 40 or 50 dollar value I can't remember how much the dlc ran for everything) and
Tera Level Magic. Tera Fire features Pirohiko Ichimonji. Tera Ice features Rozalin's mother. Tera Wind features the Putties from Phantom Brave. Tera Star features Terra, a dark puppet from Rhapsody.
Animated Character Portraits in cutscenes.
Unique attacks for the Generic Characters.
Generic characters can have different personality types like in Disgaea 4.
Control Options that use the Touch Screen and Rear Touch Pad.
The Record Shop has been added.
Two brand new playable characters, Rutile and Stella Grossular.
Monster classes can equip 2 additional Evilities instead of one.
Characters talk when they leave the Base Panel like in Disgaea 4.
Sir Pri, the Class World Prinny, is always in the main area.
Fuka and Desco from Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten can be unlocked as playable characters.
4 New Story Scenarios, each starring different characters (one for Almaz and Sapphire, one for Master Big Star and Salvatore, one for Kyoko and Asuka, and one introducing the two new characters Rutile and Stella), in addition to Raspberyl Mode.
The ability to put Unique Characters (post-game characters and DLC characters) into the Detention Room.
Rank 41 Weapons have been added which include the Stardust Sword and Ancient Spear.
The Ability to change the appearance of any weapon (but Fist and Monster Weapons) to another of that certain weapon type in the Item World Homeroom.
A new power level for skills, SS which is stronger than S and some of the skills' power levels have changed to SS.

edit: top of the page recommendation.
buy wild arms tomorrow... for the low low price of free it should be worth your money.

WELP! after waiting since the ps2 i will finally play a disgaea.

i really can't believe these past deals. honestly i feel like the majority of the vita library has been discounted at some point... sans nlks and edf!

might have to get dynasty warriors next - is it similar to dynasty warriors 2/3? those were the only ones i played and loved...not sure if i should just wait till DW8 comes to NA.

Is disgaea 3 noob friendly?

Haven't ever really ever played an SRPG before (I had FFtactics advanced but never beat it.)

Yeah, it's way more noob friendly than FFT. You can get through the story with a basic understanding of the gameplay mechanics, although there's alot of depth.

yes and no.

you can get through the main game without knowing much about srpgs if you are willing to grind some and over power your characters in item world (a world to power up your items)

given the number of different mechanics effecting your characters as well as the scale of everything it's really hard to say it's a good entry point for srpgs. I mean you can get by just with the general knowledge that a bigger attack means more damage, but to truly get the most out of your characters you need to worry about your item level, what limit it will have, what rarity it is as having items of the same rarity is a plus, what residents are living in your weapon, ect... the game just has a ton to do and it can be overwhelming for those not used to such things. I mean heck i played disgaea 2 for around 500 hours without a guide, and when i finally read a guide I realized there was still some mechanics that I wasn't paying attention to.

I do recommend you give it a try though, as I said it shouldn't be so bad that you can't play it, the basic get lots power = dead enemy works pretty well, it's just that not knowing all the other mechanics will slow you down from gaining power faster thus it will feel more like a grind.

It's still more difficult to understand than some other SRPG such as Jeanne D'Arc. I remember trying Disgaea 2 on PS2 and having no clue what was going on.

But a lot of that stuff isn't needed. If you are intent on not diving deep into the well of Disgaea mechanics, you can just use boosting strategies to outlevel the entire campaign.

Disgaea is a deep...deep...deep SRPG. But you don't need to tap into it. You should though. It's fun.

Thanks Amazon for the sweet shipping box. It's too small for my cat so that means it's the perfect size for my cat.

I was really hoping the SRPG was Tactics Ogre.

I don't know why I signed up for plus, it always makes me angry to see games I bought digitally for free. I guess it's a bad combination to buy digitally AND have PS+. I think I'll start buying physically once again (that and the fact that I can't juggle games anymore).

for people who are only/mostly retail what are your thoughts of library management and game prices/sales. do you wish you went more digital from the start? are you happier just going carts only unless a game is digital exclusive? Do you feel like you miss out on discounted sales etc? do you wish you weren't carrying around games with you? have you lost any games?

don't feel bad dude - just remind yourself that you own them where as I who will get it for free will ultimately never keep the game. :(

Wipeout 2048 gorgeous pics; (best viewed on vita)

I do both
If theres a great sale online I buy it
If theres a good sale physically i but
I also buy all my sports games physically because they are usually over 3 GB

What are the chances that we might get a discount on any Tomb Raider games tomorrow? I'd really like to try Anniversary on the Vita. Heard it looks and plays great on there.

Wipeout is so impressive on Vita. One of the few games that doesn't look like a jaggy mess in shots. But the game adds a ton of AA in photomode doesn't it?

in general if there is a retail release for a game I get it at retail, and so far I haven't had any issues with it. The sales on the PSN haven't been anything that has lured me to wanting a game digitally instead as in general I have managed to get the games I wanted cheaper physically than digitally still thus I don't feel I miss out at all. If there was a good digital sale I would likely get it but so far i haven't bought any vita games digitally aside from the ones I got for "free" though plus.

As for carrying around games well I just don't. I have one game in the system that I want to play, and if I suddenly don't feel like playing it I have ps1/psp games I can play instead or my ps+ games. Not being able to play any game i own physically if i don't have it with me hasn't been an issue at all as I can actually plan ahead and think about what i want to play that day, thus missing the few other games I own isn't a big deal at all.

and no I haven't lost any games, If i do drag a game with me it's in its case and those stay in my wife's purse unless they need to be changed and then just quickly swap out.

Wipeout is still one of the most impressive looking Vita games, and it was a launch title!! RIP Liverpool :(

The dynamic res really helps it. You can only really tell at the start of a race when everything is on screen but even then it doesn't last long and doesn't look bad.

Yeah, the action is so fast and chaotic that you don't really notice the dynamic res, and most of the time it does run at native res.

Not in the same way.
Not even close.

Yeah, L and R are A1 and A2... but the only motion you have to worry about is snapbacks and 90% of players don't even bother with snapbacks on consoles unless they're playing at tournament levels. For combos that use assists for OTG or extension, it's really not that bad because tapping L or R is easy enough if you know the timing... leaving it, as I stated before, that the only complexity is the snapbacks and even then, snapbacks for A1 or whatever L is mapped to is the main concern, I think.

SFxT requires strings that potentially use L and or R, special moves can all use L and or R... it's much more complex.

I've hated playing *true* 6 button games (read; Capcom fighters) on consoles without a fight stick since probably 1993.
I have no trouble playing UMvC3, Blazblue, or MK9 on Vita.
I have a huge problem playing SFxT and have to continually think of how to remap my controls so that I'm not dependent on the L button.
Most importantly is the fact that SFxT also has all those MP+FK, MK+FP, FP+FK, cross button requirements.
It's not even in the same league, IMO.

This doesn't mean you are pressing the button less. While you may not need to press as many directional inputs before the trigger, the trigger is still used a lot in a given round/match.

UMvC3 is especially difficult to play if you try to play characters like Zero or Vergil that require you to charge a move to perform some of the more optimized combos with these characters. Mapping a light attack to a trigger is definitely not fun, but often necessary.

Anyway you slice it, UMvC3 is more closer to a 6 button fighter than a 4 button, like Soul Calibur.

Do I have to do that manually?

I'm slightly confused, if you are referring to how on PS3 game saves can automatically be synced then you can't do that so yes you have to do it manually.

If you are PS+ then just use CM to connect to PS+ cloud and you can select multiple saves to upload at once and it takes a lot less time than transferring bubbles that at times I have some games on multiple memory cards and when i switch cards i just remember to upload the save and download my current one after i switch cards.

I only have 4gb and 8gb cards though (1 of each), so for me it's not a lot of bubbles that i have to manage between.

You must play drastically different than I do. I usually play Dante/Vergil/Dormammu or Morrigan and I do not use the "charge". Even if I did, I could manage on the face buttons without moving it.

I can still play UMvC3 on a level near what I can play on PS3 with my stick. My SFxT ability is drastically reduced though -- from missed supers to the inability to vary my projectile speeds, I have ridiculous amounts of trouble using the L button with a motion on the d-pad... my left hand just can't manage it... I've never changed the button layout for UMvC3 Vita and never will.

Yes that, thank you for the answer

I noticed during some online races that the res drops quite severely.

Hmm never tried the multi.

On that note, does anyone that got it through PS+ have access to the multiplayer? I'm not interested in it but I found it strange it said I needed the online pass or something to use multi.

The Vita Plus games are okay, don't really care for Tekken but Disgaea is nice. What's also nice this month are the free (to all members) games:

Wild Arms (PS one Classic)
Patapon (PSP)
Piyotama (PSP)
Patchwork Heroes (PSP)

What when was this announced? Are they free now?

It should have been a separate, smaller download. I haven't tried playing online but I remember downloading an Online Pass.

It's one of those games I'd love to try but can't bring myself to pull the trigger on, I'd love it if it were to appear in the EU at some point.

It's not even available on the store for Scandinavia and probably many other countries.

EU PS+ needs to get on PSP games imo. I've had pretty bad luck in that the only two third party games I've bought digitally are Lumines and MGS 2+3, so I'm pretty jealous of NA offering, hehe. Of course that's just my personal situation, the sales on the other hand...

Strange, usually it would download along with the full game when I got it right? Must be in my DL list somewhere.

Mine are supposed to arrive today also. Can't wait to get home from work been putting off playing my vita the last few days until they came in.

I did the same. :) Before kicking off any big games I wanted to have em so I can play a bit longer with the comfort.

Now with prices:

Sine Mora for me :) Awesome about the free games btw. I could not be happier with my Vita really.

Is it possible to buy these games having a PAL PS Vita?
I mean, if I have both a PAL and US accounts, can I play both games on my PS Vita? Noway right? :(

Yes you can, but not at the same time. You have to swap memory cards and format(?) the system.
I live in PAL land but am going US only for PSN, it's totally worth it.

It's possible if you were to reformat and buy them from the NA store but you'd have to reformat, thus losing the games, to get back to EU. One account per memory card.

I'm sure someone can provide better insight to it but the thread seems a little slow this afternoon so I thought I'd help a little.

Your vitas region doesn't matter
As long as you have the right region for your account its fine
I suggest buying another memory card
One for EU and one for NA
