One month from today: BioShock Infinite

1999 mode has been apart of the games vision since it was announced, so I would think they've covered all their bases.

Hrm, I thought it was something announced well into development.

I'd be really happy if this truly ends up as a way to have choices have real consequence, even to the point of totally screwing you.

It has nice alternative boxart that you can flip over and see.

Getting more enthused about this game now as it comes closer to release. I'll definitely play it through twice to try the Move controls out.

Those are worse, actually.

They don't have all of the ads but they're totally half assed.

Too bad.

Steam preorders usually go way slower than console preorders since they're digital and you don't need to have it shipped out ahead of time. I'm sure that bar will shoot up the last week before launch.

We're still 21 days out from release, that's plenty of time.

I hope so, a free copy of X-Com is pretty tempting.

Resident Evil 6 is close to having all of its preorder bonuses unlocked...

I wanted to prepuchase on GMG, but my attempts at ordering have all failed. I was able to get Tomb Raider from the site, but after that nothing works. Oh well. I guess I'll prepurchase on Steam even though I don't care about the TF2 items. X-COM looks interesting. I'm sure it'll reach that level before the game releases.

For anyone who has prepurchased on Steam: Do the awards unlock when the game releases or can I download BioShock right after purchasing? I haven't played it on PC and I'd like to run through it before Infinite comes out.

You should get it right away. Also, you should sell the TF2 items on Steam Marketplace if you don't care about them.

Thanks for the response! I was thinking everything would unlock on the day of release, but this makes me more willing to pull the trigger.

Just to reiterate what En Ex said, you'll receive the nominated reward/s as each tier reaches its end goal. I can attest to this and the store page states as much:

*Rewards will be backfilled once we reach the next level.

It's also worth noting that, upon receiving the TF2 items (you'll need to run TF2 for them to unlock), you may have to wait a few days before they become tradeable.

I just hope my girlfriend gives me this for my birthday the 27th.I've been dropping hints here and there.

I have this preordered. I'm not the biggest Bioshock fan, but I did enjoy the first two. The first has the most memorable campaign in an FPS that I've played this gen.

Yeah, Genuine items (the quality the TF2 items for Bioshock Infinite preorders will be) generally aren't tradable/sellable/craftable until after the game comes out.

Well, certainly to the point where the game can still be completed, but maybe at a degree of difficulty or forcing you to use an approach you really weren't expecting or wanting.

I support this. Still am curious as to how unlocking 1999 is going to come about.

Less than three weeks guys!

I thought it was unlocked from the get go. It's not?

Someone at Irrational (mightve been Levine, I dont remember) said that there was going to be some sort of special way of unlocking it, even from the get go I believe. Could be some button input code at the title screen, who knows. It sounds awesome though.

We should start seeing some combat stuff by next week. I know that isn't the big draw for everyone and I'm sure the shoot-bang opponents will worm out of the woodwork, but it's large part of the game.

Vigor, gear, flow of combat...just need some solid information on the basics since all the changes went into effect. Don't need to know about combatting particular enemies or anything, just the fundamentals.

I wish 2K would do one their unboxing videos for the CE stuff. I want to see if the package assembled nicely enough to warrant the purchase. Otherwise I'll just go digital.

I'm taking a combat trailer anyday over a story one.

NO MORE STORY SPOILERS PLEASE!

also, looks like we get a few more until release.

The author of the recent 1999 Mode blog post is one IG.Ratana. Also, it's been over a week since it went up and the Steam store page still states that 1999 Mode is unlocked only after completing the game.

Queue iconic late '90s gaming reference that sends the old school into a jizzcopter, much like I did in BS1 with
The door code that was the date of Australia Day.
Not really related to late '90's gaming but the reference was amazing. Nice one, Irrational. I still wonder how many people had to google that.

That image of Booker and Elizabeth falling is great.

Btw, has anyone figured out the name of the song at 20 seconds in for the Lamb of Columbia trailer? I know the second song in there is "Save my Soul". It's driving me and apparently a lot of people on Youtube crazy trying to figure it out!

It sounds it could be a rendition of "Will the Circle be Unbroken?" which might been created just for the game but I don't know!

Next thing we need is Levines face popping out in the bottom corner of the screen shouting "Toasty!" whenever you set someone on fire.

It's a Mortal Kombat II reference, for the young ones (90s ftw)
