One month from today: BioShock Infinite

Impossible. Once those two go at it, there's no stopping them.

At least it will invoke some interesting discussion in the OT. And by interesting, I mean ridiculous hyperbole from both sides.

That's why we need to wait for the OT. My popcorn isn't ready, I've only made enough for the gears meltdown.

Hey now, I dont use ridiculous hyperbole. I may have been foaming at the mouth with TR at first, but at least I came forward and said that the waves in Shantytown were bullshit (thankfully everythings been awesome since then).

I wont fuck around with my feelings towards a game. Will I be super hyped and feeling saucy until its release? Fuck yeah. If it disappoints me will I say so? Fuck yeah.

Example: re4 is what I consider one of the best games ever made. I was massively looking forward to re5 much like I am Infinite. When I picked it up at midnight and played it the next morning, guess what? I couldnt fucking stand it. I hated the micromanagement of Sheva and the forced co op and I returned it immediately. Day fucking one.

If Infinite does the same in the disappointment factor, Ill do the same thing. Plain and simple.

but it wont ;)

but who fucking knows?

You're lucky I wasn't here for Bioshock 1. Few games this gen made me more upset, probably only Hitman Absolution actually. I'm over it now though and accept the series for the consolized, mainstream'ed games that they are. All I ask is for a better and deeper game than Bioshock 1.

edit: Actually I should say a better game than Bioshock 2 because that game was a lot better than 1. I guess since it wasn't from Levine's team that I tend to forget it.

Ask and ye shall not recieve

*hands over exact copy of Bioshock 2 but set in the sky*

Edit: Oh shit, I didn't read your edit before posting. Bioshock 2 sucked, shame Derrick, shame.

I just want to shoot somebody in a Bioshock game and have it feels good. Is that so much to ask?

And maybe I'll turn off the damn Vita-Chambers

I'm not playing down your complaints or requests by any means but posts like yours make me so glad I never played System Shock 2. I was able to just enjoy BS1 as its own thing.

And ugh, Absolution. Still haven't touched it.

I never mentioned you specifically :P

Hell, I'm expecting this to be favourite game of the generation, so I'll probably be spouting some pre-release bullshit in the OT, defending the game like crazy (like I did with Hitman: Absolution...big mistake).

Ugh, if the game is a disappointment, I'll probably go into denial. I did it with Hitman, and I'll do it with this. If it happens again, I'll probably find it difficult to get hyped for a game again.

I will become Derrick.

What is this BS I hear about Minerva's Den not working with the Steam Bioshock 2? I bought MD and I'm still able to download it from Xbox. com. Does it say anywhere that this DLC only works with the retail game? What happens when I downloaded MD with Steam BS2 installed? That is not right.

No offense to anyone because I can understand waiting on a big release from a dear series, but I don't understand how people didn't see the absolution bomba coming. Trailers and release information made it painfully clear that we weren't getting an HD Blood Money. My disappointment on the subject had already come and gone a month or so before the game came out.

There can only be one.

Im still really hesitant about Absolution, but then again I took the chance with Resident Evil 6 and that game is fucking awesome. Tom Braider interrupted my playthrough though.

I wasn't expecting a great Hitman game, but I still expected a good game.

I didn't even get that.

uhhhh i get personal opinion and all but i am shocked that anyone would call resident evil 6 "fucking awesome". my best compliment for it is that some of it is incredibly mediocre.... and that is being extremely generous

In it's defense, I've never felt more like Agent 47 than when I was using the fiber wire in the corn fields wearing a scarecrow outfit.

Edit: If it's not obvious, I left a trail of death in that level because I was having tons of fun.

Also, that guy Tom sounds like a real jerk. ;)

If you thought Bioshock 1 was shit than you should just stop playing video games.

Bioshock 1 is the magnum opus of video games, and it's no surprise that your repulsive stink of "lets shit on every modern game attitude" reaches all the way to the highest plateau of gaming greats like Bioshock.

You truly hate everything.

Since you like RE 6 I doubt you have high standards(or standards at all), so you'll probably enjoy Hitman Absolution.

What the fuck? Don't go to the SS2 OT or you might have a stroke.

You hate Bioshock too? Is there no end to your wacky contrarianism?

Bioshock 1 is not the magnum opus of video games. I wouldn't even be willing to call it "great." "Good" suffices IMO. I will agree that Derrick shits on every modern game (I'm pretty sure thats the joke) but, to be fair, modern games are more of a crap shoot than they should be. At least back in the day, when gaming was a niche market, we didn't need to cater to every asshole in the world just because they have a pulse.

I can understand understand why Derrick is so negative, but I also feel that sometimes he's overly negative and that often results in threads becoming about Derrick and his negativity.

Rather annoying.

That was one of the few parts of the game I actually enjoyed.

There were a couple of other missions I kind of enjoyed, like 'Hunter and Hunted' and 'Shaving Lenny'. It's a shame that most of the other missions were garbage.

The awful disguise system was the game's worst problem. 'Hey look, that guy covering his face is not suspicious at all. Hey, wait, he stopped covering his face, kill him!!'

You should go play System Shock 2 and reevaluate your opinion on videogames.

This is bull shit. System Shock 2 did everything better eight years before.

Every thread i've seen him in he does that. I've seen folk get banned for far less.

You've probably never seen someone get banned on here for criticizing a game because there's nothing wrong with that. You just wish it would be bannable because it upsets you.

If you're talking about making threads about me that's not my fault, I don't want that or like it when it happens either. But I can't control what people are going to post. If I could MGS4 would have never won goty on here :)

Kinda glad that I havent watched anything past the first trailer and a short gameplay one. Even staying away from this thread for the most part.

they are showing some stuff that by just glancing over seems like the stuff i'd wanna be surprised with

Off topic question, what won GOTY in 2011

Ya I haven't watched or read too much. I feel like I'm not as excited when I get a game if I start watching everything available for the game.

Derrick being around is nice cause it shows you the kinda weird bonds that people get with the games they like. Some people respond as if he were insulting their mothers or something.

Videogames.

Everyone knows exactly what the state of modern AAA gaming is. I question the need to repeat it and cry about it in every single thread. At some point, you're just a broken record.

No. Its more than that. He never sees positives in anything. Hes never jovial about releases.

Its fucked up in a weird, yet you get it if you get it sort of way.

He does go a little overboard, but I can understand where he's coming from.

If I was let down by all the games I was looking forward to, I would become very cynical too.

That's acceptable. Some great games came out in 2011, would have been bad if it was Skyrim.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Portal 2 were my favourite games of 2011. Both would have been worthy winners, in my opinion. Due to Skyrim being unplayable for many people on the PS3, I would have been annoyed if it had won.

I see myself becoming cynical and bitter as time goes on.

After getting let down by so many of my favorite devs in a short period of time. Bethesda, Bioware, Blizzard.

I didn't get to play Dark Souls until 2012 because of the PC release, but that game would have been up there as well.
