Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | March 2013 | Carving an Independent niche

CoachKevin, funny you mention a second Vita because I used a bunch of points at Bic and ended up getting a new white Vita to use as my "Japanese" system.

Question for you Vitabros about memory card transfering.

I have an old 8GB memory card when I bought my black Vita at Japanese launch, and when I got back to Canada, bought a 32GB card for my North American account.

If I start playing some J-PSN games off my 8GB card, and later decide to get a 32GB card for that system, will I easily be able to move that stuff over to my laptop (using the PC software) and onto the new card and carry on my saves?

If you're talking about buying a new 32gb to play Japanese PSN games, then yes. You just need to backup your 8gb card to either a PC or a PS3, then restore it to the new 32gb. Obviously, you'll still need to do some account switching and stuff if you plan on moving between your "US 32GB" and your "JP 32GB", since you won't be able to transfer the Japanese PSN games on your 8gb to a North American account.

Oh, you have a second Vita as well, I missed that! You shouldn't have a problem as long as it's the same PSN account.

I hope that made sense!

Any Tales of Hearts impressions so far? Thinking about importing it in the near future.

I downloaded it off of the HK PSN and have probably put in about 3hours into the game. Like pretty much all JRPG's its a bit of slowburn and the combat systems haven't completely opened up yet, but Im enjoying what combat I've played so far and the story while pretty standard JRPG fare is enjoyable. It helps that I've found a good english translation online, though its for the DS version so it is missing the new parts.

Oh I agree with that. Blockbuster is closing to. That leaves my town with no place that sells films. Sucks. Only store left of real interest is game and well .... Lol game and all that.

Yeah luckily my local game was a game and a games station so they just closed game station and left game open...

Blockbuster is open but not for long and hmv is gone.

UK retail man... We done fucked up

It's all internet and huge mega stores now. Stores just don't know how to compete with the Internet.

It's weird because in my area I think Game are the only ones left, and I can't imagine how. I haven't actually bought anything in there for ages. Yet Blockbuster, which always seemed to me to be a much better place for unique deals, has gone. And HMV have just done a lot of weird stuff lately.

That too. Especially when there are sites out there offering next day delivery.

Had a flight last night. Was very surprised when the kid next to me pulled out his vita before me. Great to see other vitas in the wild.

Oddly enough, the girl next to me played her 3ds too. Strange row we were!

More like best row. That's amazing

Did you congratulate the kid for getting a Vita?

Somehow I get the feeling that asking a kid for their contact information (be it PSN) could be misconstrued..
How so? Now like it would be his home address, work schedule, and telephone number.

Edit: I'm guessing he was at least 18 as he was in Boston for college. I am 22, so yeah...I said "kid" but really we were pretty close

Holy shit, the ground - the most important part of the game - is low res. Must be a bomba.

Sometimes stuff like this can break the "immersion" for me in a game but if it's a game where you're hunting/fighting monsters - you're usually focusing on the monsters, not the ground as you're whipping the camera around and stuff. I dunno.

The game looks amazing IMO, and I'm a huge fan of Inafune's work so I'll be supporting it day one. I've been trumpeting it on the social spheres too - especially comparing it to MH as a breath of fresh air, IMO. I'm just so tired/jaded with MH, same monsters, same animations, same weapons, no real story, etc.

So is there no way to access the inventory in MGS2 without using the touch screen? It's borderline unplayable for me using that. I like to sneak up behind people and hold them up, but you have to unequip your weapon (or fire it) to be able to move. It's tough to reach the touch screen after holding your weapon up.

iirc i set weapon switch to last weapon and used that style through whole game to get around that.

still have to use screen but it was really easy

You can lower your firearm with the dpad IIRC.

Hey, you! Have you been hiding, too?

I guess some people will never be satisfied, you know? From what I've seen and played of it, the ground textures were never something that broke the experience. In fact during the demo I wouldn't have even commented on them until it was brought up by someone else on GAF.

So, a running tab on apps that were announced but are MIA:

- Crackle (especially embarrassing given Sony owns this)
.

does Sony even use this anymore?does It even exist?

Top of the page: Buy everything, as long as it's not made by Capcom

if they'll use the money to make a new Maximo game for any other system I'd give them mah money.

In Toto's defense, he did mention that he was still going to buy Soul Sacrifice despite the PS1-quality textures IIRC.

yeah,I got a pre order for it ready.

I hope it don't suck like Ragnarok Odyssey.

Yeah I've been hiding, neglecting my Vita too much - I got a Minecraft server up and running so I got a bit too obsessed with that. I need to focus on going after another platinum trophy..

I have found somewhere offering a 3G vita for same price as wi-fi.
Are there any reasons why I should buy 3G nowadays over wi-fi?
Thanks.

So I'm liking SFxT so far. Tried online but couldn't get onto psn so it wouldn't work.

How's is the online? People quit if they are about to lose? Stable? Plenty of players?

I havnt managed to get hooked on a fighter online yet (I miss the 4 mates round a TV days of my youth for this genre). I could have got into UMvC if not for everyone just quiting if the about to lose.

Do you want to use the 3G? If not it has extremely minimal gameplay benefits in certain titles. Ecolibrium being an example. If they're the same price, get the 3G.

Source? But sounds about right.

Anyone remember being able to livestream from your Vita.

Maybe that will come on a patch for the niconico or youtube app, or it will come via FW upgrade. Considering the PS4 will do it, it stands to reason Sony would want the vita to do it too.

Probably because the browser doesn't support flash?

I think it has more to do with the browser a/v HTML 5 features not being supported.

- Epix (Supposedly this "Spring")
- Hulu Plus

Hmmm, have something against Capcom?

Also, it's kinda bad that there's not a general app store on PSN for these type of non gaming apps to roll out more often.

does Sony even use this anymore?does It even exist?

Yes, it's actually a decent service with a decent amount of TV Shows and movies. It's free so lots of people use it and they actually just added subtitle options to some movies which is welcome for people that can't understand english too well or are deaf.

Online is good. Not too many quitters because you take a point penalty if you do. Sometimes people with 0 points will but not too much. Lots of players and you also play the PS3 players. Quitting is not near as crazy as UMVC3.

They've promised live streaming on Vita via NicoNico for like a year now. I'm certain they're holding back this feature because they want to prop up the PS4's share button.

I bought a Vita, why wouldn't I have something against Capcom?

So...

Chances the new crash bandicoot game hits vita?

0% because that would imply there's a new Crash Bandicoot game

There's that supposed teaser page, but the only image we have of it is faker than me saying Capcom has tonnes of Vita games in development.

You win Corrosive. Think I might be done with SFxT. I can't for the life of me get links down on anything other than a stick.(L/R buttons still dont bother me much though) Guess the only playable fighter on the vita for me will be Arcsys games.....And Tekken if NAMCO IS LISTENING.
