Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | March 2013 | Carving an Independent niche

I'm finding Silent Hill Book of Memories painfully average. As soon as I finish the main story(which hopefully only lasts 21 zones like I've heard) I'll probably never touch it again.

The title song is sweet though.

Edit: Top of page recommendation eh? Go buy Tales From Space Mutant: Mutant Blobs Attack!

yeah it is a shame since it's a great game..I guess 505 games just don't care ,hopefully Nihon Falcom do something about it.

I emailed 505 a while back about Gurumin (I own the PSP version, but would happily re-buy on Vita) but the response wasn't great:

Email response from 505 said:
Hello and thank you for contacting us.

Indeed, 505 Games did publish Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure for PSP. It is now a deleted title and I believe there are no plans for a release on the PS Vita.

We're actually technical support (we who respond to you) and we are here to help if an existing game might have installation, launch or play technical issues. I can let you know that our new site, www.505games.co.uk, lists all games as available now and there is the Latest News feature to show what's coming!

I will pass on your request to my colleagues at our head office of course, however we at technical support won't have direct input into the games which are to be released in future.

Maybe if more people got in touch they would think about it?

It's the first time I hear about that NicoNico live-streaming feature. I hope we'll get it sooner or later!

I don't think it's happening anymore:

PlayStation Vita's Nico Nico Douga functionality will include more than just support for streaming videos covered in the service's characteristic walls of comments. Nikkei reports that Nico Nico operator Niwango is working on developer tools that will allow developers to build live broadcast functionality into their games.

According to the Nikkei report, the Nico Nico API is currently able to just broadcast a player's face snapped by the system's front camera. Next year, Niwango plans on updating the API to support live broadcasting of gameplay footage as well.

At Tokyo Game Show, Nico Nico detailed "Game Jikkyou" or "Game Broadcast." At present, this refers to the former type of broadcast -- just broadcasting the players' face along with an audio stream. Nikkei's report today confirms that the more advanced game footage broadcast will also be supported in the new year.

As indicated by the talk of a developer API, these broadcast features are at the game level rather than system level. It looks like games will have to include support for the live broadcast feature by incorporating Niwango's API.

The western version of the app seems to have been abandoned. We weren't even allowed to watch archived videos here, just live broadcasts. No one has updated the app to fix the fact that NicoNico.com merged with NicoNico Douga so there are no longer any English user streams.

I turned on the Nico nico app because of the recent chat. I head to the Japanese section, clicked a random video, got some poor karaoke ...

So I managed to try some SFxT online last night while in bed.

1st game. Against a US player (Im UK). Was a little laggy. He had 1500ish bp i had 0 lol. Got owned. However the lag was really distracting.

2nd game. Lag free against fellow UKer - he was also 0 BP but also freaking terrble. I won rather easily.

3rd game. Against US player agian. Very laggy. Think he either lost connection or quit as game eneded.

4th game. against UK player. Still some lag but not to bad. He was BP 3500 or there abouts. I put up an ok fight for part of the first round. Then I got destroyed lol.

Seems really fun when its not lagging. Gotta get used to the new mechanics though as I revert to basic old school street fighter tactics because im pretty new to the game.

Is it normally laggy? Hard to tell if it was because I was up in the bedroom or not. Shouldn't be as other games have worked fine but havn't tried games that need to run as fluid as a fighter.

If lag is a common issue I doubt il play online much as it ruins it. For it to suddenly jump forward and ding your half way though getting combo'd. Makes me feel like the lag isn't even on both sides (not experiencing the same lag).

Anyway with P4G finished I need to decide what to go back and finish first.
Strangers wrath
TiTs
Tactics Ogre

mmmm. There are others as well.

Hype me on Persona 4: Golden.

Haven't bought it yet as we had to see if we got the review copy but aren't getting it, so I need to think about my purchase. But the hype has faded a bit in recent weeks as I haven't had time for my Vita.

its just one of the best games ever made.

Its funny.
Its dumb (the good kind of dumb).
Its story is pretty crazy.
Its a dating / friendship sim (which which sounds terrible but it just isn't somehow).
Its got a great combat system thats nice and fluid yet turn based and tactical.
Even people you don't actively choose to use in your team get involved in the battles.
Its pokemon but with imaginary friends.
Its basically Scoobydoo the RPG (that should be a sole selling point).
It took 81 hours to get the true ending.
spoiler -
You can 'complete' the game and miss 15 hours of gameplay without realising it. You can even complete it after this point and miss yet more content. so there is a bad, neutral, normal and true ending. Plus an extra thing you can do to extend it even more
The music is insanely catchy.
Monster design is typical mental crazy.
The over all style of the graphics and interface is just fantastic.

One of the best JRPGS ever. The story, music, and visual style are awesome! Jump into the TV world and fight Shadows. Live the life of a Japanese high school student. A memorable cast of characters to interact with. You get a party member who likes steak and can kick the shit out of a tank. You can summon a whole bunch of "demons" to fight/cast spells for you.

Possibly the highest reviewed game of all time and the future

Oh and the best move in any game ever

Galactic punt.

Gets me every time.

Damn Chie is so awesome lol.

These points make me feel a little better about my purchase (which will only be delivered later this month). Bought it purely to see why it receives such high praise.

$40 for Ace Combat?
why bamco, why

q5hgE2C.png

It's only £8 on the UK store. ;)

It says it's only PSP compatible, but it shows up on my Vita too so it must work. Is it good?

Just downloaded LocoRoco 1 and 2 since I never played them when was big into PSP. Please don't kill me, there are a lot of games I skipped for some reason on that system that make me scratch my head. Until Vita, I hadn't played Lumines, Patapon, and I still haven't played a MonHun game, Crisis Core, or either MGS Acid game.

I turned on LocoRoco last night and thought I was having a flashback from my drug using days. I feel like a koala bear crapped a rainbow in my brain, to borrow from Captain Murphy.

I see a lot of places have gone out of stock of Persona 4 here in the UK. Now I'm questioning if this is a game which will be restocked or not? Really don't want to hold out on this game and then find out I can't buy a copy in a few months.

I will not play a zero bar connection unless they are from the same country and on a PS3. I will not play a vita player with 0 bars unless I've played that person and know the game isn't broken.

I don't know about the UK, but I've personally never seen a copy of Persona 4 Golden in retail stores in the US. :/

The fact that it's a fairly niche JRPG and on the Vita probably doesn't help either.
Yeah good point.

I think I'll just order a copy online anyway, don't want to risk not being able to get it online or instore and having to pay £35 for a digital copy on PSN.

Thanks mate.

While Persona 3 is dark in a rather straightforward way, Persona 4 tends to be surreal. It's still dark, but it has all of these bright colors and energetic music... It's a bit jarring, in a good way.

It's one of those games where you will lament having to take a break from the visual novel portions to explore the dungeons and vice versa.

Dust off your PSP and purchase/play MGA 2. Best game on the system.

Unfortunately, I don't think it's playable on Vita.

Just received Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2+ and just after i opened it, got shipping notification for Phantasy Star Online 2!
Any other PSO newbs, send me a PM so i know how wants to get their multi on when my copy arrives :)

Make sure you get on Ship02 and use the friend invite system before making your first character! Details over at the OT: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=515088

not sure if I can post PlayAsia links here but they have DJ Techika Tune for $42USD (:

I'm still not sure if affiliate links are kosher here, the rules don't seem to say one way or another. Here's a not-affiliate link while I ponder that: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-1ac-49-en-70-5wdp.html

Got a notification email saying my copy of Senran Kagura has shipped, whoop! :)

Also nice to see one or two people picking up PSO2, I've logged in only a few hours with the digital version but it seems pretty cool so far.

Have a quick question about Gravity Rush, I reckon I'm over halfway through, spoilers:

I'm in the village at the bottom of the pillar with all the kids, I'm trying to gold all the challenges, will this area be accessible again later in the game? I'm not really good enough to get gold in the challenges down here yet/need to upgrade my skills

Yes, everything can be accessed at the end.

Yes and I recommend you wait on trying to gold them till the end. Try and get bronze at least just for the extra gems but leave gold till the end. Its a lot easier once you have lvled up.

Some of those challenges are easy enough to gold if you've leveled at all during the game... then again, there's a couple that would make you want to toss your Vita across the room. :lol
