One month from today: BioShock Infinite

They completely changed the design for AC whilst making an impressive open world.

With this it just seems its Bioshock with different skins and whilst there is nothing wrong with that, I just feel it can't justify a 96 meta rating.
It looks a lot less like BioShock than BioShock did to SS2, and that got a better score, and it further apart.

I don't think it's relationship to BioShock is going to make much difference either way basically. I don't think it ever does for sequels, no one cared that GTA4 wasn't some revolutionary redesign of the genre, in fact, it's a lot less varied than SA, and still scored better.

The Elizabeth and The Boys of Silence Figure Set by NECA includes...

Elizabeth has been imprisoned in Columbia since childhood. All she knows about the world are her rooms and her jailer, a massive creature known as Songbird. Finally freed by Booker DeWitt, Elizabeth finds herself lost in the city and troubled by many questions. Elizabeth stands 6.5" tall and features over 20 points of articulation and includes a real fabric skirt.

Instead of brute force and heavy artillery, these guys only use sound -- it's all they'll need to get your adrenaline flowing as you check your ammo and run for cover. It's time to cover your ears: Here come the Boys of Silence. Figure stands 7" tall, has over 25 points of articulation and even features a carefully concealed opening mouth mechanism that is central to their in-game actions

If they release a Booker figure (and why wouldnt they?) Ill pick up this whole damn set.

And then play with them in shame and secrecy like in Spaceballs.

FINALLY ELIZABETH, WE ARE ALONE

NO ANDREW, I HATE YOU, I HATE YOU, LEAVE ME ALONE!

and yet I find you strangely attractive

Eh, there hasn't been a ton of Infinite gameplay shown but it looks drastically different in the gameplay department in certain instances. Bioshock 1&2 you were immediately thrown into conflict/shit hitting the fan, the beginning of Infinite looks very somber and almost relaxing.

You get to explore Columbia before you see it's own destruction, you can actually see a living and breathing world instead of seeing the remnants of there being a society/civilization.

Exploration isn't based on interlinked rooms or levels, sure the rail system will get you to point A or B at times, but it looks like there will be many points where you choose how you want to approach a situation. Do you charge straight into battle or start at the edge of the floating city/platform and work your way to the objective?

I think the pacing and atmosphere are definitely different from what was in the first two Bioshock's/System Shock's, I think the gameplay will be different too.

Do you think it will score 95 or 96?

I wonder if the Move controls are good, I could buy one, but I need to be sold.

I have no idea, I don't think there's much relationship between quality and metacritic score anyway, so even if I'd played the game, I wouldn't be able to guess.

Oh yea, I've no idea why I even discussed a comment that had the word metacritic in it. :D

Sooo. I never really finished the first game. Is this game's story mostly separate? And I'm guessing BS2 isn't too important either.

It has been hinted at that there will be some sort of connection between Bioshock 1 and Infinite.

And BS2 is just an all around great game. It might not tie into the mythos of Bio 1 and Infinite, but it adds a lot more to the world of Rapture.

edit: sorry for doubling.

Playing into BioShock 1 would be an interesting choice, you can't really assume everyone playing has played Bio 1, certainly not Bio 2, so you can't hang any major twist on it or anything. Maybe you see someone sketching the first Big Daddy, or you meet the person who discovers Adam, etc, but I don't think it'd be a big thing.

Andrew Ryans parents live up there and you stumble into them.. =P

If Adam Levine can get Mountain Dew/Doritos sponsorships behind this game then yeah.

Maroon 5 on the brain? :) heh.

Regarding that one achievement involving tears and
utilizing allies pulled from them against enemies; I wonder if the allies you will "pull" will be your past Calvary soliders you were with at Wounded Knee
?

Or maybe some
sploicers or even Jack himself?

Are you getting that impression from the tweet?

I don't think it really means anything.

Yeah, it literally means exactly what it says. Just a friendly reminder to pre-order the game. I'll be putting up another next Tuesday when we're 1 week away as well
(OMG SECRETS ABOUT FUTURE PLANNING)

Luckily, most people replying have already pre-ordered, or are planning to do so already :D

Elizabeths theme is fucking gorgeous btw.

It's one of my favorites, although the quartet are hard to beat.

From the excerpt, AD sounds pretty good too.

Also,
it's number 25 in the soundtrack listing, so I'm guessing it will be used at some point near the end of the game

I didnt listen to that one yet, but thats what the track is called? "AD"? Just like the marking
on Bookers' hand?

Hmmm..

I have some Steam credit to use, so that works.

Replaying BioShock right now, its been a long time.

Jesus, the atmosphere is second to none.
