One month from today: BioShock Infinite

I just wanna know where the hell the
1980's
music is coming from and that tune that the quartet sings is
the freakin' Beach Boys
?!?!.

Just a fortnight left...

The twist is you're actually under the influence of a plazmid in Rapture, Columbia never existed, and you wake up. But then you wake up again! And it's all actually taking place in the film Vanilla Sky.

Thats fine because I love that movie =D

Elizabeth: "Open your eyes, Booker"

This is malarkey unless you never upgraded it. The shotgun, especially with Electric or Explosive Bucks and fully upgraded, wrecks house and can knock anyone on their ass in a couple shots regardless of difficulty

Standard buck wrecks house? Yeah, okay. Maybe if you walk right up to a splicer with the semi auto upgrade and shoot it 4 times in the face while stunned by electricity, which is not considered "wrecking house." But post-Hephaestus, it far from wrecks anything.

So you set dudes on fire, and don't finish them off? You let them run around and be assholes?

There's more than one splicer at a time and you can't kill them all in a second. They don't even seem to notice they're on fire because splicers are actually robots who feel no pain, apparently.

Actually if you take enough pictures, the Splicers become more susceptible to damage and thus become weaker

No shit. As I said, I've played the game before. However, Fort Frolic was mainly spider splicers, some thuggish splicers who are barely a threat. Didn't give me much of a chance to level up leadhead splicer damage. It doesn't excuse, as I said, difficulty wall instead of difficulty curve. From wrecking Fort Frolic to enemies shrugging off shotgun shots in Hephaestus. It's been like this every time I've played the game. The game shows its hand before it's even 1/3 done, and from there neglects to add enemy variety beyond making them stronger. And that's where the game's pitiful shooting, where enemies can't even be staggered, really gets put on the spot. It also highlights the weakness of the plasmids other than telekinesis, incinerate, and electro bolt.

Things that make Bioshock 1 incredibly easy:

Upgrading the wrench's power and make it freeze enemies when you hit them

Help little sisters and get the Big Daddy plasmid that makes a Big Daddy protect you, use it and get into a fight with another Big Daddy. Watch them punch each other to death, kill the extremely weakened Big Daddy remaining, loot both Daddies.

Stockpile special ammo, use it when shit hits the fan

Using pladmids that are useful in more than one circumstance or doing only one thing. Electricity and the telekinesis one were extremely useful.

There is the commercial heard you guys say you saw PS3 version where.

IGNs first vid about the soundtrack that got posted today. I mean its very brief, but you can tell it's the PS3 by the button prompt at the beginning. No combat, but at least you can see it runs smooth (so far)

Also Morma, setting guys on fire and then using the heat seeking rockets. Bliss.

Booker's mission is to make time itself right again.

Make it right.
It never crossed my mind till now, but I wonder if the tears do have an impact on the state of the world. Braid was this huge moment in gaming around the time Infinite would have first been considered, after all.

Could be PC with a PS3 controller?

I just saw the video it was the blue x button on the 360 controller so it was probably PC.

Oh no way! Ah well.

Old man Crow is at it again.

The tier meter is moving so fucking slow. We still haven't reached TF2 items yet.

93% now. Should only be another day or two.

I'm still wondering if we will get the TF2 items right away or if we have to wait until Bioshock ships? If they are smart, they'll give them to people right away so that other players see them while playing TF2.

Fuck, that never crossed my mind.

Bioshock 1 and 2 really do provide a ton of tools to play around with, that openness intrigued me more than the world or story of Rapture.

I have a feeling the timeline of the United States in the 20th century and even the events in Bioshock 1&2 could be completely altered. It wouldn't surprise me if someone from the future that knew of Rapture's existence somehow figured out how to "tear" and decided to build their own Rapture, back in a time period where they would have very little opposition and such.

The fact that we don't even know how many copies they need to sell to move the bar is really sketchy. For all we know it could just be moving up in pre-determined increments.

The thing I love so much about it is the kind of unnerving feeling I get from hearing that
anachronistic music
. Makes me really anxious to see what else comes from some of that stuff.

The sequence in the 2011 E3 playthrough with the horse was one of the most exciting sequences I've ever seen.

Indeed. I kinda doubt that is true because I don't think they would flat out lie like that but who knows?

But either way, I'm pretty sure all the pre-order bonuses will be unlocked before the game is released.

Is Get Games a reliable site? It has the pre-order deal and Spec Ops: The line for free.

Otherwise, any better PC deals that I'm not aware of??

Im in the PSN Store now and the Season Pass is still bundled with the game for 79.99.

Hopefully it'll be straightened out by the 26th.

If you pre-order from Green Man Gaming, you get the original Bioshock for free, plus a game of your choice, one of them being Spec Ops.

Fuck it, Im watching that 15 minute E3 footage.

I feel like DiCaprio in "Basketball Diaries" when hes withdrawing.

"Gimmmmeeee a taaaasste"

Hahaha... it's fun that it's so close though, ya know? It's been a long time coming. Not that I didn't like Bioshock 2, but I feel this is the sequel the first game deserved.

I think the most interesting thing about Infinite, is I feel like I know nothing at all about it. I've tried to avoid videos, so that could be part of it, but in terms of the moment to moment design of this game, I know nothing. I don't know if it all takes place outside, I don't know if the outside is just a level hub for levels in buildings, I don't know if it's open world, I don't know if whole levels take place in tears. I don't know anything. That's a pretty rare feeling to get from games. I haven't played anything beyond that early demo of GoW:A, and I already feel like I know exactly what that game will be, the same for almost everything that comes out.

In this way I actually feel that that long delay and drought actually was good for me. I might have spoiled myself on information, but now, I feel like I'm going in almost as fresh as I did with BioShock. And now that I'm finally getting hyped again, the game is only a couple weeks from release (though I'll have to wait til a few days after to start).
