One month from today: BioShock Infinite

Hahaha... it's fun that it's so close though, ya know? It's been a long time coming. Not that I didn't like Bioshock 2, but I feel this is the sequel the first game deserved.

Which is why Im inching closer for the OT to be:

BioShock Infinite |OT| BioShock 2

The idea was all StuBurns.

Hahah yeah that's good. I actually quite like Bioshock 2 though so I don't want to distance people from trying it out. It's a fun game with better gameplay than Bioshock 1; just lesser overall uniqueness in environment and of course story.

Hmmm am I not able to redeem my key on Steam for the Pre-order yet? Keep getting "Invalid Key".....

Oh, and who wants my Extra Bioshock 1 Key? First Reply.

I'll take it if I can!

I think that title does too much of a disservice to BioShock 2. There's plenty of other great titles in this thread to choose from.

I know. There's a couple more we have to decide from, but that's a damn good one. I loved BioShock 2 and so did many people on here, so I dont consider it a disservice. It's more clever and humorous than anything.

And my god at that 15 minutes of footage.

The area where you're skyhooking around looks fucking gigantic, as in a bunch of places to explore.

This is what I'm most curious about. It's hard to get a sense from the footage I've seen and stuff I've read just how level progression is going to work and how much freedom you've got to get around. I know it's not an open world but I'm wondering how large the environmental playgrounds get.

Well with all of the rails Im seeing and the amount of buildings you can possibly land on, the playground seems pretty damn vast and nicely spread out (at least in this particular scene).

My skyhook is ready . :)

This life size 1:1 prop replica is exactly how the Sky-Hook would look in the real world. It features motorized action that causes the gears and 3 hooks to spin when the trigger is squeezed. Details include supportive arm brace, highly detailed engravings that are authentic to the in-game model including all screws, wood grain, metal and leather textures. Measures over 22" in length and is nearly 11" tall, it comes packaged in a full color box.

Bought.

So is mine. For fucking real.

Whoever is coming up with the merch for this game deserves a raise or a medal or a whatever. This, that murder of crows bottle, this Columbia statue with cloth flag:

I'll also really want the Motorized Patriot figure when it comes out.

I didn't buy the skyhook but ok at least were all ready.

Can the replica skyhook be purchased seperately, or does it only come with the CE ? Id fucking love to get my hands on one of those, but Ive already pre-purchased the standard edtn

As far as I'm concerned Minerva's Den puts it far above Bioshock 1. Not enough people have played that DLC.

Damn I have Minerva's Den and a new disc and I got distracted by neoGAF conversation tonight so I didn't get to start it, but that's some super high praise.

I won't raise my expectations any, 'cause that seems like a bad idea in general, but given that I already like both Bioshock games, I suspect this is going to be one rad experience.

You know you can just jump right into it right? Just like 1999 mode =P

Id say because time is short, play Minerva and use that as your Bio2 experience for now. It isn't long at all and you'll certainly come out of it with a "fuck yeah!" attitude.

BioShock 2 should just be called BioShock "2" from now on. Haha.

I need to play it too but I don't want to buy it on GFWL, and then use GFWL again :(

Der, I think there might be a chance, granted a really slim one, that you may dig Minerva. But just a little bit though, not a lot. Not even close to a lot. Just a little bit. A smidgeon if you will.

It's supposed to be more of bioshock 2, which I like more than 1, and with a better story and writing than 1 right? I think I will enjoy it a little at least.

It spins a really good yarn, and the ending is a corker. :)

Story is fantastic and the feel of the game is much more grim. It has more of a sense of mystery to it.

You and Ami could knock that shit out in an afternoon and probably come out damn satisfied.

We just give him shit because he's extremely critical, that's all.

Derrick01 is a good guy to me and I think people should address the points he makes and not the person.

There are people who are relentlessly positive all day long... why do so many people take a negative approach to people who instead enjoy criticism more? Derrick01 likes a lot of things, he just prefers to engage in conversation where not everyone is agreeing with him, sort of like I do. I learn more about people that way, stuff that fascinates me in a good way, ya know?

I gotta finish it before Infinite and shit, but I'll probably slow the experience down. I tend to play my games reaaaall slow, like a fine wine, unless there's another reason not to (trying to beat time trials, for example).

LMAO

"Bioshock Infinites boxart doesn't say shit about the game" - Levine

But, why was it approved then Ken?

See this is the shit that confuses me. If he's so fucking picky about the design and direction, then why would he let something like this, the fucking primary advertising get the green light and then be like "Oh well, it's not what you think.".

What a mindfucker. I would totally suck his dick if I were a gay man.

what always confuses me is how like two years before every game on Earth releases, there is immediately like 800 custom boxarts online that are just incalculably superior to the official ones.

And I'm not just calling on Ken on this, but EVERY developer. So few boxarts are legitimately nice, and there's so many ways to make nice boxart.

Just as an aside, boxart doesn't really matter to me... it's just boxart... but naturally attractive boxart is better. So just curious why publishers find it so hard to pick something nice

Maybe I haven't posted here enough but what's everyone's beef with Derrick seems like a cool dude.

There's nothing wrong with Derrick. His thoughts do engender constructive criticism, and it's important that we fairly evaluate things.

Had we all just glibly lapped up BioShock, would the team at Irrational have had the proper "push" to improve upon its faults with Infinite?
