One month from today: BioShock Infinite

Bioshock |OT| This ain't raptcha, Big ol' bird is gonna captcha; City in the sky where does the poop flow? Follow dirt creek if ya wanna know. Vigors' be pumpin; Patriots be jumpin'; Booker keep DeWitts aboutcha if ya wanna get somethin'; more than a big daddy, gonna need a gun caddy; don't ride the skyrail if you're overweight, fatty.

I wonder if this is from the final build. I hope not, i mean do we really need a symbol to know the handyman is coming?

Last I heard a lot of the HUD stuff is optional. Not sure about these specific things, though.

In that 40 minute GameSpot interview with Bill Gardner, he was saying that there is a bunch of options to tweak the game how you see fit in terms of what you want to see on screen. For example, you will be able to turn off the enemy health meters if youd like.

Skyline seems like it'll be a fun way to just travel around the city, like a scenic rollercoaster. Certainly beats walking.

And the anti-rollback clicking sound is sweet.

I preordered the Xbox version and I want to know what im buying.

They already have your money then so they have no motivation to show anything.

And since their primary drive is to attract new customers, then showing the PC version constantly would be the best way to do it.

I believe there was console footage shown during the spike awards last year.

Sounds like you shouldn't have pre-ordered a game you've never seen.

I agree that in general devs should show all versions so consumers are informed. If you pre-ordered in the absence of information you wanted, that's on you.

You are buying a modified UE game, so no AA, texture streaming issues and janky frame rates. There are dozens of examples to look at.

When I first saw the skylines in the early previews, I figured this was Irrational's way of doing what Mario Galaxy does so well; direct the player to a specific area, let them accomplish whatever needs to be done, and then allow them to fly instantly to the next scene of action. I'm not sure this was what they went for in the end, but it would be cool to have quick sequences like that in BI.

Two weeks from now:

PC version, hooked up to the living room television with an Xbox controller. 1999 mode for first playthrough.

Is that the best way to experience the game?

That yellow cracking looks like when you lose your shield from what I can tell.

Yes it is, and it looks like some of the beefier enemies (Devil suited Vox) have shields as well.

It did look like the shield was recharging very quickly though. Hopefully that is just due to them playing on an easier difficulty.

I guess you could have a thematically appropriate drink, like an Applejack or something.

The HYPE is coming! Fuck, I want this game now. I'm listening to the "Beast" Song from the trailer all the time and it really gets me pumped...

*KLICK*

The version from the trailer actually seems to be a mix of the original and a calmer version from an album on which they covered their own songs.

EDIT:
And why can't I see anyone's avatars right now..? Options are correct.

Well, I don't care a lot about the graphics, just I want to see how they look like.

I'm more hyped about the story and characters.

Keyboard/mouse. Quick-switching between various weaps and vigors, faster and more accurate aiming and movement, etc.

They'll definitely use the railway as a way of guiding the player, but it potentially offers more interesting combat possibilities as well. The general freedom of movement afforded to the player in combat in Infinite seems vastly increased over the previous Bioshocks, which is a nice plus. You were a fairly plodding dude in those games.

It can happen. I've heard Derrick liked Far Cry 2, which is a game I hated with a passion.

We need to know if Andrew liked it.

I liked Far Cry 2 up until I suffered from the save game glitch that a bunch of others went through. I attempted the game twice and it messed up both times. Both console versions. Also, despite its bugginess I find it superior to FC3.

And I wont have a meltdown. As Ive said before, if I find issues with the game or whatnot, I wont be afraid to talk about it and I wont be hiding behind some false worship. Im not going to be sucking the games dick 24/7 after release, only up to it. Now if the game deserves the blowjob after release, well then it will rightfully get it.

At least you guys wont get any Oprah .gifs from me =P

Gear equipped in that playthrough pimped the shit out the shields. You can ignore the shields and invest in the vigor energy bar, health bar etc. But yeah for that session the character had maxed out shield upgrades.

Dishonored was good on both xbox and ps3 and was a UE3 game.

I never said it won't be good, I'm playing Bioshock 2 on the PS3 now, there are certain thing UE do well and other it does not. It also depends on how the devs push and optimize it.

Hmm, I'm thinking of grabbing this, but won't have access to my desktop for a couple weeks. Seeing as the minimum requirements are higher than Tomb Raider I'm guessing it's going to be more intensive than that? My laptop with a gt540m could handle that on normal, I'm mulling over whether it can do BI.

Bioshock has AA on PC, FXAA to be specific.

Unless you were talking about consoles....

Furthermore, Unreal Engine 3 games have always run very well on my PC maxed out.
