Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | March 2013 | Carving an Independent niche

So I asked this in the Lumines thread, but it looks like no one has been there in a while.

I was reading the Lumines:ES wiki and found some interesting info:

James Mielke, producer at Q Entertainment, originally pitched the game to Ubisoft as "Daft Punk Lumines".[4] He had wanted to distinguish the Vita version of Lumines and felt that linking it to a particular artist would provide that experience. Daft Punk had met Tetsuya Mizuguchi in the past and were familiar with his work, so they were excited to be involved.[4] They had wanted to compose a completely new set of music for the game but were too busy writing the soundtrack for Tron: Legacy. Consequently, they were forced to drop the project until a future date.[4]

Was there ever anything new on this? What is Q Ent working on now?

Daft Punk Lumines sounds awesome, especially with Daft Punk coming out with a new album soon.

Top of page: Buy Lumines: Electronic Symphony!

Goddamn I'm hooked on P4G, even all the school stuff is strangely compelling. Gotta ace that exam!

I think the only think that has bothered me is a few enemies that I sink a load of HP and SP into and then they run away just before I can kill them and get the rewards. And then I'm like, oh well at least there's a chest, and then I open it and it contains another shadow...

They need to give PSM games trophies. That'll boost sales.

You have to go all out whenever you see those Hands. Most of them you have to only use physical or almighty damage against, but they give a lot of exp and money.

PS Mobile games should be a section in the main store. They should also be listed in the Playstation store updates similar to how Minis were.

They need to update the SDK of PSM to include trophies and PSN leaderboards with friends list support (ie sorting).

They also need to move where the games are in the store.

Until then PSM is irrelevant. Which is a shame because there are quite a few good games on the platform.

Yup, and have PSN integration and support for more intensive 3D graphics. Would have been MUCH better had it started it like that.

I think it should be separate, but instead of "PS Mobile" tab they should split that into "Indie Games" and "Apps" tab. Indie games would get a lot of exposure and Sony would still be able to have it on android like they want to without much of a hassle. You can combine the current apps that are buried under vita with any apps developed on psm on its own apps tab. In my opinion, that would be ideal.

Playstation Mobile as is looks like a logo or something.

They also promised PSN Integration for months now and so far, nothing. Can they improve the VM framework to even work with more intensive 3D graphics? I'm not too sure.

Famous, do your sources know anything about ps mobile or they don't care about it like the rest of sony lol

I also noticed that no one can even see what PSM game you're playing in Near or in the Friends app.

No one even knows PSM exists.

As I said earlier, this PSMobile site has not been updated since launch, you cannot find PS Mobile games on the web store, and when you scroll over "games" in this page you do not see PS Mobile games as an option there.

I wonder if there are any PSM games that sold decently

Maybe SCB sold a couple of thousand, but not much more than that.

Doubling the double pack: 136,496 copies sold?

Yes, with DD sales, probably 150K opening. Hope it has legs.

Stupid two worm boss is kicking my ass in Chapter 10 of Sigma. What is the safe way of dealing with them? Using the UT of the Diabliharo doesn't seem the best way of dealing damage.

Here hoping it goes everywhere (PC, PS3/Vita...).

Fez was a bit overrated. It's only much fun if you love solving cryptic puzzles like figuring out fake alphabets. There wasn't much of the platformer I was hoping for..
(also the worst map system ever)

Stand still waiting for the elec balls, and dodge. When the worm go for the physical, dodge to the opposite side, and make a full Daihablo combo. Rinse and repeat.

Anyone ever get "Unable to retrieve data" listings on Near? There are always one or two games on the Out and About Chart that don't work for me.

I thought you could windmill them to death in Black for reasonable damage with no damage to you. But it seems Sigma/Plus fixed this?

Just got a Kickstarter update for Sealark. That's a game I'd love to see on the Vita.

In fact I'd rather have all of the games I've backed on it. Just not feeling PC gaming these last few months.

Has anyone managed to beat Knytt Underground?

Chapter 3 is such a chore. I doubt I'll finish this :(

If you are not having a good time don't play it. It seems the game is really easy to beat with a guide since you can take shortcuts to the bells and don't pay anything at all.

But the whole point of the game is exploration, if you don't like that then just put it aside.

That's the thing. I love exploration, but when I get up to a door and some jerk tells me I can't pass because I don't have certain items... I don't know. I guess it dawned on me that all those tricky jumps that I ignored would have to be conquered. Since I made that post I've been hammering away trying to get the items needed to move on. I've explored a good 60% of chapter 3. It's the matter of getting to said items. I had to get the
Awakyinsomawan, for Malie
I died at least 30 times before it clicked. I'll stick with it. I like the game too much. The first two chapters did a little too much hand holding. So now it's all hitting me.

Why? What changed?

The game stopped guiding us. Well me anyway. It really puts you out there to figure things out on your own. The third chapter dwarfs everything that came before it, challenges you in new, very difficult ways. Some of the jumps, the timing. It just takes a lot of patience. It's a 3 chapter game. But the third act is a doozy.

Played an hour of Lumines on the Vita tonight after picking it up from the sale. Awesome game and great tracks. I think this is going to get a lot of rotation and cause me to buy some new music.

I wonder if starting next year the PSVita games will cross-over with PS3, PS4, or PS3+PS4.

It'll be cool if it's PSVita+PS3+PS4.

I'm very early into chapter 3, but so far I'm enjoying it much more because it has stopped guiding. First two chapters were quite linear and I found them to be a bit boring because of it. Chapter 3 is much more interesting to me with the new ability and being able to go wherever you want.

The dialogue makes me cringe every time though. You can tell it's written by the one person who is making everything else. It would have been better if he just left out any text like Knytt Stories. I hope he will at least hire a writer next time he makes a commercial game.

I realize you are probably being sarcastic but I honestly don't know.

It's Playstation Mobile, which is the new name for Playstation Suite, which is Sony's attempt to, well, I'm not really sure what they attempting to do with it.

But basically it's a "open" platform (costs $99 a year to dev for it) that runs on both the Vita and various Android phones, but it's not really Vita and it's not Android either. It's based on Mono, which is kind of like what XNA used (for XBLIG).

Unfortunately, it's plagued with a host of problems.

So, Sony didn't think they were neglecting ps mobile enough so they decided to not include any ps mobile purchases in the spend $50 get $10 back.

Hey RE_Player,
I agree with you on the art style. Very neat. PS Mobile is not a part of the $50 for $10 promotion, sorry.

One really has to wonder what is the point of it.

I know we'll never know, but is digital really expected to be so low?

AC:L was 15-20% (90-120K), numbers can vary, I say between 10-20% of retail is a good guess and a good rule of thumb, of course, the more multi and the more replayable the game is the more likely people are to buy it digital.

so based on soul sacrifices numbers in japan??? how well do we think it will do in EU and NA regions week 1?

I would figure 40-75k combined between EU and NA would be a safe estimate

Well, it's not being developed by Idea Factory or Compile Heart. That's a bit worrying.

Edit: Lol, they did do Senran Kagura. Neptunia Vita is being localized, right? :o

there is no confirmation neptunia vita will be localized... heck we don't even have a confirmation that it's a jrpg and not something like an idolmaster game... if it's a jrpg it will likely come over, if it's a different genre it very well might not... nis tried in the past with a VN based off an ip that sold well for them... and it didn't end well (disgaea infinite if you are curious what game I am talking about)

I would expect the digital numbers to be much lower for the Japanese market though.

As for the PSM thing, they said every dollar leaving your SEN wallet counts. Paul Sullivan has to be wrong on this one.

It seems that Neptunia Vita will be one of those idol simulation games. Meh. :/

Does anyone here have both the PC and Vita versions of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed? I'm really enjoying it on the PC and was wondering how the Vita version compares in case I pick it up. I've tried the demo (which stutters at places) but heard from some that the actual game runs better.

I earned a trophy without even realizing it.

I got home today after work and looked at my Vita, it said I had earned a trophy 12 hours earlier and it was the Wake Up Club one for waking up within 3 seconds.

Only, I don't remember that ever happening, and I woke up an hour late.
