Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | March 2013 | Carving an Independent niche

Nah it is just like that early game. You don't have the power to do it yet.

Ah i see, that's good to know. I haven't paid much attention to this because well... Mexican wrestler = not a theme I tend to care about, but I am glad I checked it out. The game looks really solid, and I had no idea it had co op play. To be fair I had no idea it was a metroidvania game, my glancing impressions especially with the theme was that it was more like shank, just with a mexican wrestler. That will teach me for not looking into every game vita gaf is excited about :P

edit: top of the page recommendation.... charge your vita... it likely needs it :P

I thought the same thing. That GamesRadar video just shot my interest in the game way up.

SMH.

I have no interest in Luchadors.
But after playing the gem that was MBA, and hearing that Guacamelee was Drinkbox Studios next game, I watched a single video that Carl may have posted; something like the E3 trailer... Metroidvania type game by MBA developers? Hook it to my veins... don't care if I'm not feeling the masked wrestling angle or not.

The IGN video has newer footage, that gamesradar one is just the same demo from Pax Prime/E3 polished up a bit.

For the new page.

How big is drinkbox? I mean they have been developing Guacamelee for over a year now.

That big

I thought it was going to be a fighting game. Now I'm interested. (Strangely, I was watching a Mexican wrestler movie last night

While I get they were going for a pun, that's a really terrible name for a metroidvania game.

Dunno... Guacamelee looks like a lot of button smashing to me. Will wait till reviews are out.

Also, thanks to the folks recommending Life of Pixel. That game is such a steal for $2. Simple, fun, beautiful, and has great music.

What? The Vita deserves more than shoddy 3DS ports.

There are two types of ports from 3DS ;)

The ultra shitty lego ports with non native res, not upscaled cutscenes and ages long loadings

and then there is

VLR with full native res and 4xAA which looks quite good for low budget game :)

Still i think the likely scenario is:

Price cut in September together with Killzone release

That Batman or some other game that Sony managed to secure (there were rumors about another AC for vita too)

Tearaway

Bend new game - possibly Uncharted spinoff 2

new Vita Cod (this time probably port of ps3/x360 version)

Hi all! I've lurked for quite a while waiting for a chance to jump in, and unfortunately I'm now doing so with a noobasaur question, so apologies in advance for that!

I've got a retail VLR that I've got the plat on, with the content manager data uploaded to the cloud. A friend of mine wants to borrow the cart and play through the game. I'm assuming what we need to do is the following:

1) He borrows the card, inserts it and deletes the bubble that appears
2) He reinserts or restarts to get a fresh bubble and then plays through the game
3) He returns card to me

Now, I get a little blurry. When I insert the card into my Vita, do I then go to content manager and download my save and that will overwrite anything he has done on it, or do I insert, delete bubble, restart/reinsert and then download? Is it easier if I just delete the bubble before lending it to him?

Sorry again, it's the first time either of us has actually lent/borrowed a Vita game!

Teoretically you should be safer if you delete bubble first.

But i never tried it personally.

Anyone from europe on here playing Ragnarok odyssey?

If so add me (same as GAF name). I tend to play in the evenings 9-10pm or there abouts. Up to chapter 9. would be fun to play these harder quests plus the extra quests with some of you guys if any of you are playing at the same time.

Put about 33 hours in so far. Great game for £25. Nothing amazing but good fun. Gives me enough of a PSO vibe as well. Playing Cleric mostly at the moment.

If the save is getting uploaded to the cloud that should mean its not saved on the card itself. In which case just lend him the card and thats it. The save is normally saved in the bubble itself not on the card. However some games do save to the card.

Actually if you're the type to do more than one playthrough it wouldn't hurt to make Persona 4 PS2 your "first" playthrough and then play it again on the Vita. You'd probably finish the game by May if you start now.

Of course, NG+ on P4G has the advantage of letting you
carry over money you've earned and skill levels.
And obviously your first playthrough if it's on the Vita will get you some trophies so that's something to consider if you care about getting the plat.

Thanks for the help with the VLR advice - I'll let you all know if we manage to comically destroy anything.

Regarding P4G, I'm actually playing that right now and I'm torn on what advice to give you! It is an amazing game, and one you need to play as soon as possible! I'm very close to telling you just to get the PS2 version to experience it, but P4G seems like the definitive version in so many ways I think you'll be better off waiting until you can afford it

Theres a fair bit of extra content in the Golden version as well.

May isn't to far off really is it.

Anyway, despite what people say, you don't need to play it now. It will be just as awesome a game in May.

The only negative thing I can say about Guacamelee is that I don't like the main character. I hope you can choose another 'skin'.

Looks fun, and I really like the art otherwise.

To put it in context by the time you can play the game il be a Dad (due april the 26th). Now that is really not far off.......

....oh my god.

Congratulations :) Although, from personal experience, get in as much gaming before the arrival as you can because you're going to have like no time to yourself from now on! :D

Sounds like ill just wait then :)

Cool. I was trying to play devil's advocate back there but overall I think waiting is the best choice..if I were you I'd wait too. Glad you also feel that way. (But at least go to youtube and listen to the opening theme of the PS2 version. It's awesome.)

Congrats VitaDad! My friend's also becoming a father later this year. I'm thinking of getting him a Vita as a present. (In reality I just want someone whose ass I can kick in SFxT. He'll be the perfect training dummy...)

If your UK or europe add me on PSN. I got SFxT recently. Really fun. Would be nice to get an endless game going at somepoint. Quite happy to get my arse whooped as well. Im really rusty at SF games. I played them so much in my teens but that was over 10 years ago now.

Congrats!
And to put it simply: you are still not a dad and already in love with your vita?
Well, expect to experience the deepest form of unparalleled passion for... your son ;)

I'm outside Europe I'm afraid. But feel free to add me anyway. Who knows maybe by the time global connections improve we'll still be playing SFxT on our Vitas. My PSN ID is omg_mjd

HaHa. Had the Vita since it came out. been my primary gaming device since.

Also very much looking forward to being a dad.

Il try. Its more a lag thing. Anyone out side of Europe tends to give me a match in slow motion. Worth a try at somepoint though.

So seems likely that rising Phoenix is a new vita title for AC

Could be good if they fix bugs from liberation

Fix the following
- Frame rate
- Touch puzzles no working
- Graphical glitches bugs
- Terrible story telling

And then il be interested. AC lib was an impressive start but once that initial wow wore off, the game was really riddled with flaws.

All though to be fair so are the console AC games.

DOA5+ livestream was a riot. Perverts rejoice!

The game looks identical to the console versions, by the way, some missing environmental effects aside. It's an incredible graphical achievement on Vita, especially the character models' faces.

Noi's right: Blazblue looks damn good on the system.

Too bad Arc didn't include the input shortcuts option they did on the PSP ports. :( Can't pull some moves off to save my life.

Another quick question: I noticed that Dokuro dropped in price from $19.99 to $13.99.

Is that a permanent price drop?

I'm asking these questions because I was planning on getting a few games at the end of the month... trying to take advantage of the get $10 cash back to help purchase Soul Sacrifice next month :D

EDIT: I got the $10 credit from Sony! Probably cause I spent something like almost $160 in the last 90 days though, lol

It might be, but I didn't see it mentioned on the blog at all. The sale the other week had it at $10/$7 with/without PS+.

Since both the Batman and Lego games are published by WB, I'm going to assume that a possible 3DS port will be more like the former.

Where was this DOA5+ livestream so I can watch it later if they archived it?

Ah, alright. Since I'm at work I can't watch Tits or Ass live. :(

Yeah I am really starting to feel starved for games. I have a tidy backlog for the vita, and a massive backlog on my PS3. .

Yes that's it, starved for games. My backlog is big but I don't really have a desire to play many of the games. I then decide to do something else.
