Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | March 2013 | Carving an Independent niche

I can personally assure the GAF that Guac is not cancelled and is coming. A friend of mine is the lead designer, and they've been and continue to be working hard on it.

Edit: Top of the page unorthodox recommendation: Ragnarok Odyssey! It's the perfect on-the-go monster hunting game, and great local co-op. One of my fav games on the vita!

Sorry guys I dont know if this has been posted in here yet but I just bought a 1 years sub to playstation Plus for £19.99 from Game.co.uk

I don't need it (I have several months remaining), but I'm getting it at that price.

This game is actually my biggest "buyer's remorse" purchase that is vita related.

If I would have known there is no experience in the entire game, I would have made a wiser decision

Thanks to the Vita game drought, I started playing this again. I like it more now that I'm getting better gear in late-game, but the drop rate is awful. :/

I always expect drop rates to be horrible for good items. I just find the game frightfully dull without having a group to play with consistently. Solo, the game is too monotonous with little to no pay off.

I really don't care for the leveling system, or lack there of, that they decided to use in this game. For magic user at least, you're pretty much stuck with 2 combos. No reason to use anymore than that.

I've been looking for about 5 specific items for my build that are supposed to drop from one mission, but I haven't found a single one of them in the ~5 hours I've spent farming the mission. I even have Scavenger Hunt equipped so that I can get better drops.

I know what you mean about MP. I'm just honing my hunting/dodging skills before Soul Sacrifice is released.

Day-1 for me along with Zombie Tycoon II upon its release.

Anyone playing Treasures of Montezuma: Blitz? Had a new patch recently that improved the gameplay tremendously in terms of the time adding to the clock. I got close to 8 million after a few warm ups.

Can't say the same about recharge time since they signficantly reduced that. Takes much longer for you to get back lives now, so they definitely did that to reduce free plays.

I'm on the fifth stage of Dokuro, and I've just got to say, anyone who hasn't picked up this game yet is doing themselves a disservice. Excellent old-school puzzle-platforming with a hefty dollop of cutesy charm for good measure.

I seriously remember the princess being so stupid in some stages. It was damn annoying, but it eventually became really funny to see her walk to her death over and over.

Not having any problems with that aspect yet, as I can usually anticipate if she's going to walk to her death before I allow it to happen. And even if she does, it's just a quick reload back to the last checkpoint, which is never far away.

As an aside, Chapter 4 had a weird spike in puzzle difficult. Some real brain busters on that one. Now I'm onto 5 and it's piss easy again.

Congrats!! I'm sure you've heard this a million times, but as the father of 3 kids I can assure you that your life is about to completely change!

A Vita is a dad's best friend! Congrats!

thanks guys. Fully prepared for the change haha.

I suggested a Vita to my brother who has 2 kids and he loves the thing. He gets to game on his commute to and from work.

Well the non leveling up is pretty common with these types of games. Its the same with Monster Hunter and God Eater (heck even EDF although thats a bit different).

Either way im enjoying it quite a lot. Its not amazing but I like it. I also find the combo system pretty interesting.

Why you only find 2 mage skills useful?
I pretty much air cast them all for casting speeds sake bar the ice one and earth one which is depended on the situation.

Fireball - quick hit on distance targets

Jupiters thunder - is a great single target multi hit spell

The earth spell is a good fast to cast (in the air) AOE knock back on lvls with lots of weaker enemies. The ground version also has gravity ball which is a good AOE Multihit spell.

Ice is a great AOE multihit spell for the same as above where you can get away with longer to cast it.

Also you don't have to do a full combo. There are spells / moves mid combo which are good that you can stop on if you need to move quickly.

Each person seems to have a similar variation of skills that works pretty well.

My only issue is that I dont see there being much end game as you cant do a new game + with higher difficulties (no difficulty options). A bit like PSO or Diablo where you play throogh on harder and harder to get better loot.

However the extra missions should be fun for online and trying to get a good set for each job.

The card system allows some decent customisation as well. Similar to how Items effect you in GEB.

I guess its just not for you which is fine but I would give the combat system a lot more credit that you are giving it.

Yeah I am really starting to feel starved for games. I have a tidy backlog for the vita, and a massive backlog on my PS3. I honestly don't feel like getting to the PS3 backlog since the games take a while to get through so I only push through them on weekends. But games on the vita feel better sized to meet my needs. Not too long, but even if I finish it I can enjoy the game long after due to high replayibility.

Glad to see most indie games coming onto the platform from the PC.

Anyways, I may check out hotline Miami and Guacamelee, but so far the only guaranteed buys on my list are Zombie Tycoon II, Soul Sacrifice, and Killzone Mercenaries (depending on its performance, what critics thought of it, and if I will make the last minute decision to pick up a PS4 or not).

Maybe those games just aren't for you but another possibility is you aren't getting into the games enough to start enjoying them. I will sometimes feel like I don't really want to play then 15 minutes in I'm enjoying it.

Also there are some games like Treasures of Montezuma that have a low mental barrier to play. I used to play that too often even though I didn't enjoy it much which displaced other games.

Now I remember why I stepped away from HSG; Al Arabian :/

I'm currently trying to place first on silver rank 5-4. It's a nightmare.

Got this today from a friend back from Japan
They give him the screen cleaner as gift :)

Machinarium...
Lone Survivor...
The Binding of Isaac...
Hotline Miami...

Please, Sony, convince the people of freebirdgames and bring "TO THE MOON" to the console and you complete the circle.

You can do it, Sony!

All of a sudden ended up with £150 of PSN money. With £40 odd already in, that won't all fit in my wallet at once (I believe £120 is the limit?). So need to spend £70 odd. Bought Corpse Party 1+2 and Lunar: SSH for £30. Also got Missing Link for Deus Ex and Nightmare in North Point and Year of the Snake for £14. Still leaved another £30 roughly

Any PSP/PS1 RPG's on the UK store you'd recommend? No SRPG's or overly grindy games though. Normally I'd just extend PS+, but I just bought 3 years for £55

PS1 - Alundra

PSP - Persona 3 Portable, Dont get Trails in the sky unless you are having trouble sleeping.

I know this is kinda reversing the question back at you but....

Any that I can get on Vita you recommend the most? Im on EU store.

I have already played
Ys Seven
P3P
TiTs (to boring)
Lunar SSH

Tactics Ogre is pretty amazing if you haven't played it. Ys OiF is imo better than Ys 7.

edit: i can't read ;) For non grindy rpg Ys series would probably be good.

Good call. Played Ys Seven and Oath in Felghana but never got around to 1+2. I'll get that. Still leaves me with another £20. Maybe I'll get Borderlands 2? But I was planning on waiting for a GOTY edition since the Season Pass doesn't include everything.

Did you like Ys Seven and P3P? If you did then Ys Oath in Felghana and Persona 4 Golden are obvious choices. I prefer those two over the games you have played. What do you feel about PS1 RPG's? It's kinda hard since the majority of my playing time is on consoles :(

Loved P3P and got and loved P4G even more. Sorry I was meaning psp or PS1 rpgs.

The ones on my radar are

PSP - FF IV complete collection, Ys Oath.
PS1 - FF IX (never played that one

How does FFIX hold up? I loved VII and VIII back in the day.

Part of the DOA5+ livestream uploaded here

Looks like a remarkable port. A worthy successor to the esteemed legacy of incredible bite-sized adaptations established by Neo-Geo Pocket, SFA3 Upper on GBA, Tekken 5 on PSP, and UMvC3 Vita.

Just wondering, is there any way I can mess up Persona 4 and not get to the true ending?

Any recommendations on when to save? I won't play the game again after I finish it but would prefer to get the true ending first time round.
