One month from today: BioShock Infinite

Hey, they really designed the Elizabeth one very similar to the actress who plays her!

Well, not so much in this photo, but I know what I mean after all their interviews and all.

Also, Andrew, we don't care about your wallet, just give us your CC number and expiration date. We'll just use it to purchase things until you can't purchase anything from it to feed your obsession. Bwahaha. Kidding.

Well once I get mine Ill post pics and let you guys know if its worth the investment/purchase or not.
HOORAY.

You're probably going to go with "yes." :p

Hold out for either the Columbia statue or the Motorozed Patriot. They're a little more practical to my mind. :)

LOL. Im an adult working 50+ hours a week. It happens.
Haha, yeah. I work around 45ish hours a week, for 10 bucks an hour. Hopefully at my main job I'll get a raise soon, once I finish the trainingish period. I just have a pretty decent amount of credit card/student loan debt, so yeah. Whomp whomppppp. I look forward to the day when I can splurge on stuff like that.

I don't know why so many people are interested in Elisabeth. The Bioshock games have by far the worst looking humans, and especially human faces, of any games this gen.

It's not her face we're excited about.

It's her amazing looking
personality and AI routines.

i agree. bothered me also in Bio1. is it intentional? "bad art"? random npcs seems to be ok but Liz`s face and her overacting gestures always put me a bit off. maybe it will grow on me while playing.

I think she has to have a certain amount of melodrama in her body language to convey emotion across a room.

Besides, I find her endearing, the latest version of her especially.

yeah, i understand that. and after watching that IGN A.I. video i have to admit some of her (body-)animations are really great.

but still, sometimes she comes across like a robotronic doll as did the little sisters in Bioshock.

It is jarring when the character slips from something reasonably organic to where it's super-evident where the mo-cap, animation and facial animations don't work together. I'm guessing it's hard to get away from that when most of it is outside of cut-scenes.

Please excuse my ignorance, but I'm on a media blackout and have only seen the E3 2011 trailer and one combat segment (VGA/Combat Interview on IGN) The sky is significantly orange there. Will there be a permanent change somewhere midgame, or do we keep switching from sweet blue sky to aggressive orange combat sky?

Edit: About Elizabeth; I'm honestly interested in her AI routine and if they managed to make an AI character that makes me say wow during the game. AI is severely underrated in games and it is really something we should start pushing more. 90% of all game AI/baddies are mindless drones that attack, take cover, attack, take cover.

Saw a thumbnail for the TV spot on Facebook and it ruined part of my blackout.

Elizabeth with a noose around her neck is exactly what I wanted to be avoiding.

Still, I managed to avoid everything until 10 days remained. That's good, right?

It will be fascinating to compare Elizabeth with Ellie from The Last of Us, both characters have so much in common. Both were designed to take the AI companion to the next level and the way they assist the player during gameplay is also similar.
Even from a story perspective they have a lot in common. Both were confined and get to see the outside world for the first time. The basic plot consists of the player having to escort these characters from point A to B.
The way they react to the world and the player character's actions was one of the main concerns for the writers in both cases.

It seem like both developers had to face the same challenges both from a technical and writing perspective. Comparing the results will be very interesting.

That's cool I rarely drink but Bucking Bronco sounds cool but that's one of my favorite vigors.
Haha, I wasn't paying attention and I thought you had to find these in game to get these vigors. That would've beek fucking cool.
Also I don't like Bookers face in the commercial :[

That girl is awesome. She actually wanted Ken and Troy to make her cry so she could deliver a better performance. And then, she wanted to do it freaking again. This is gonna be great!

Its officially..

Shit. Time is just too slow, I'm freezing myself!

I've been trying to find that behind the scenes footage with Ken directing Court and Troy. It's really cool.

"Lay into her Troy"
Troy to Courtnee: "What the FUCK is wrong with you?!"

Lol

If you want, I just published the full BAFTA Q&A that Ken did this past Monday. It's about about 105 minutes long, and is mainly about Elizabeth and the process behind creating AI companions.

Note, there may be some slight spoilers, so if you're on blackout, you may want to skip it. The second half of the video is a Q&A as well with the audience.

Enjoy. :)
