One month from today: BioShock Infinite

If you want, I just published the full BAFTA Q&A that Ken did this past Monday. It's about about 105 minutes long, and is mainly about Elizabeth and the process behind creating AI companions.

Note, there may be some slight spoilers, so if you're on blackout, you may want to skip it. The second half of the video is a Q&A as well with the audience.

Enjoy. :)

wuh, wuh, wuh.

Thanks for posting, watching the rest now.

Ten days to go, and the free X-Com bonus for Steam preorders is at 38 percent.

It's likely that it's going to make it, but I could be wrong.

This is so great, i'm only at the 10 minutes mark but i really love stuff like that. Thanks so much for putting that up.

I think this deserves it's own thread.

Saving it up for when I beat the game!

It's awesome. It's as good as the things that Naughty Dog does.

I never played a Bioshock game before but i've been following this thread and it got me interested. I just watched 6 min gameplay video which seemed very nice. I was wondering though: if you were to sum up what a Bioshock game is all about in one sentence, what would that be?

I don't have a powerful pc so ps3 is the only way to go for me. It seems a bit strange that no console footage was shown yet so i hope the console verion will be competent? I might wait until i hear some impressions on the ps3 version before ordering but i'm rather excited to give this game a go. I'm intrigued.

They're about the exploration of an environment, and it's inhabitants.

One sentence is an unusually draconian limitation to set if you actually want to know about the games though.

Feel free to write more ofcourse :) I was more meant figuratively speaking as in " what is the essence of these games".

Assuming the preorder reward thing isn't rigged, then the TF2 items must be a helluvan incentive.

The first game (which is more relevant, given this game is by that team), is a shooter with a heavy focus on environmental story telling, you're going through this underwater city, listening to recordings of the society's downfall, while exploring the city itself, way into the aftermath of when things turned bad.

Infinite actually takes place as things are falling apart, it actually seems quite different based on the little I've seen. BioShock is in many ways the sequel to System Shock 2, and actually apes it far more directly than Infinite seems to follow BioShock.

This game has a heavy focus on the companion AI. It's an interesting task that everyone seems dead set on getting to feel organic, and impacting, without being bothersome, and so far I'd say no one has really done a great job of that, Alyx is pretty good, but still seriously lacking, so it's Irrational's turn to step up.

To me this whole steam X-com deal seems pointless. On PC you can get Infinite for a lower price elsewhere and then buy X-com later on, in the bargain bin.

I finally started Bioshock 2 after buying it and forgetting about it due to GFWL issues.

I am quite enjoying it so far.
Playing Minerva's Den DLC for the first time now myself. Pretty good.

We already have the hats.

Hmm, I preordered and have no hats.

Sweet deal man. Hopefully you wont be overShocked by the 26th =D

I doubt I will be. I played the first game to death when it came out.

Andrew., I was you in 2007 in terms of hype.

You have to start TF2 once to get them. I had to install the whole 12 GB for them lol

Ah, I see. I don't have it installed. Haven't played it in years.

Maybe a year ago I was super hyped for it, but the delay, and staff bailing made me a little less excited, now it's building back to fever pitch levels.

The System Shock IP isn't really worth anything to them. It's not like it's stopping them making a BioShock in space.

at least it would be a better selling point.

System Shock 2 won "Top 100 games of all time" award etc.

I haven't been this hyped for a game since Resident Evil 5...

:(

And that's how the old men in your avatars were born.

I think i'll be hitting Andrew levels of hype once I finish clearing my current games (HotS, Sleeping Dogs, Tomb Raider, and God of War, come at me back logs).

I don't know, they've used from the makers of the 'highest rated shooter on metacritic' all over this game. SS2 didn't sell very much at all. It's not a name that has any market value beyond the very core audience. Levine has been talking about this game as if BioShock didn't get wide enough recognition, so SS2 is an unthinkable step back.

The Bioshock name has more clout than System Shock ever did.

You guys are right, don't know why my first thought was a new IP, didn't thought about Bioshock in Space.

Okay I stopped following this game due to the development fiasco.

Why should I be hyped again?

The last gameplay demo I saw looked horrible. How long is the campaign? Did they get all the issues sorted out?

Did they ever explain why the hell this has "Bioshock" in the title?

1. You shouldn't be hyped, the game went through hell and seems bad

2. The campaign is sounding short

3. The issues weren't sorted out hence the short campaign and troubled development

4. It has Bioshock in the title so they wouldn't have to do anything new, expect the same old experiences with this one

So yeah don't bother looking into this game anymore, you won't like it at all.

One of the worst posts i've read on GAF, congrats.

Is this some sort of joke?

If it isn't, you've been terribly misinformed.

EDIT: Oh, you we joking. I'm such a fool :P
