Battlefield 4 Unveil - March 26 - San Francisco - [Wallpaper] - [Teaser Webpage]

Just lol.

W46PiF7.jpg

Thats not exactly how it works.

The amount of stupidity going on with all of these map pictures is borderline embarrassing. This is what you guys sound like:

This is the biggest map in the Battlefield franchise, Bandar Desert from BF3 Armored Kill.

"Hey guys look at how small dat map is lolz it's like one maybe two sized Cod maps hehe naield railed bach dicea!!?!?!"

I mean, seriously? Any concept of scale floating around in your heads?

On a more serious note, I think it's important to note that Battlefield isn't just a huge map party anymore. It's become more varied, and part of that is, yes, to bring Battlefield to a wider audience, including CoD players. But that's what makes BF unique now: you have your smallish maps for infantry combat, (still large compared to CoD) medium maps for a nice mix, and huge maps for vehicle and air warfare, all while fitting under the BF3 roof. Either you like it or you don't, but that's just the way BF is now. I think it's a trait not many games can claim to.

Haven't read this thread but looking at the pic it does look like they are going to try and appeal to the cod crowd.

Big mistake IMO, it didnt seem to work for Halo and I personally think the cod gameplay is on its way out.

One of the reasons I got into Battlefield, is because it's not like cod.

what pic? How can one get to a conclusion to that by looking at a cover art?

I see a lot of "I don't like an FPS and I can't/won't articulate why. Therefore, it's a CoD clone." But I don't think people realize how weird CoD is because it's such a familiar franchise. It's essentially laser tag with a modern military skin, built around a 30 second gameplay loop of either getting a kill or instantly respawning. BF3 is much, much more deliberate, and the gunplay is more nuanced. There's recoil, for starters. Near misses don't magically turn into hits. If you are suppressed in BF3 you would have been dead in CoD.

They couldn't turn BF into CoD even if they wanted to. They already tried with Medal of Honor.

Lol wow now you just sound foolish.

Not trolling at all, you obviously haven't played Vanilla BF 3.

I said VANILLA BF3, clearly you don't know what that means or you wouldn't be making yourself look foolish by posting a pic of a map from an expansion...

I'll let you google what Vanilla BF3 means on your own.

and caspian border in BF3 vanilla is larger than any CoD map...

Did anyone ever say that none of the BF3 vanilla maps were larger than COD?

I'm out of this thread, nobody seems to be paying attention to what people are actually saying.

I am not sure what you try to tell, but what is the problem if SOME of the BF3 maps are CoD sized?

You're a funny guy, but I'll play.

BF3 Vanilla:

Caspian Border - Big
Damavand Peak - Medium
Grand Bazaar - Small
Kharg Island - Big
Noshahr Canals - Medium/Big
Operation Firestorm - Big
Operation Métro - Small
Seine Crossing - Small/Medium
Tehran Highway -Medium

The smallest BF3 map is either Seine, Metro or Bazaar, yet you are arguing they're the size of CoD maps? Seriously? Who is the foolish one exactly? While I'll agree that in general, more small maps than big ones in BF3 Vanilla, arguing that the smallest are CoD sized is "foolish". And yes, you implied that they are.

City maps will be a few small blocks, about the size of a large COD map.

How the hell can you tell that? It looks just like all the BF3 and BC2 art.

Worst suggestions yet? Probably.
Do not listen to this man.

Completely flattened maps by mid game (or sooner) do not make a fun game.
I have to agree, complete destruction is just not a good element.

Also, smh at the past few pages. wtf is with this inane map talk.

Raven77 is right, the default BF3 maps are (aside from A FEW) COD-esque trash. Simply comparing overhead map size isn't doing it, you also need to factor in how the maps also worked. Operation Metro might look like a map that's bigger than COD, but it sure as fuck doesn't play like one. Tehran Highway may be medium but it's bowl shaped design creates this huuuuuuuge killzone, basically forcing everyone that isn't a vehicle (which there are like two of) or sniper to play on very small chunks of the map. Operation Firestorm may look huge but the only action that's happening is in the small cluster of buildings.

The DLC maps are much, much more like the traditional Battlefield maps.

I think BF4 may be more traditional BF because the next gen consoles will no doubt support a larger playercap than 24.

I think the difference between this and Battlefield 3 will be minimal.

Although I played BF3 on 360, and I'll be buying this only once I've got a next-gen machine, so the difference to me will be huge.

Same here. I'm sure a lot of people that play BF3 and BF4 on PC will see little difference but it it's truly 1080p/60fps/64 players on PS4, has more graphical bells and whistles, and has improved destruction it'll be an amazing jump for me personally.

Hey EA, could you let some of the BF3 maps carry over to BF4? I'd like to play BF4 with more than nine maps. What's that you said? "Fuck you, I got your money"? Okay.

EA will look at the success of Premium (in terms of sales) and go with the same route. Start with 9/10 maps, end with 30.

I'd pay EA to keep BF3's maps as far away from BF4 as possible. To me, it wasn't the quantity of the maps that were lacking in BF3, it was the quality.

I agree for Vanilla, there were all forgettable minus maybe Caspian. (I do like that map) In terms of design the maps definitely did improve throughout the course of the DLC.

I just said that the default BF3 are garbage, of course I meant the DLC.

Just let premium members keep the Armored Kill maps, please.

Well, and the Karkland maps. Those are still classics, and a perfect example of the urban based warfare that was left out of BF3. And the Aftermath maps too I guess.

Bad Company 1 had this weird aiming acceleration (that was prevalent with shooters in the 06s and 07s) that made the game nearly unplayable for me.

so less than 2 weeks until BF4 footage. Will be glorious.

Too bad that PS3/360 will get iterations of this, but understandable. They of course want to capture the install base.

I have enjoyed BF3 immensely. But I am really thinking of boycotting BF4 after this entire Sim City fiasco. Feels really bad to give EA my money, they are milking BF so hard. Even buying BF3 dlc piece meal was a disaster for me, I couldn't play on premium servers even though I had all the DLC, I had to buy premium as a whole to play on the premium servers. Not a major issue but it was just shady imo.

Not sure what I will do I really love this game, but it seems like it's coming out to soon after BF3.

I just started playing BF2: Bad Company 2. I like the multiplier its fun. :)

Does the single player get any better after the first 3 missions?

Bad Company 2 is one of my favourite games. Single player only gets better and the multiplayer is is awesome. Spent countless hours on thst game.

Well, if you don't have Premium you can't play on Premium servers. Buying the DLC =/= Premium, at least that's how it works on PC. Not sure about consoles.

I am not sure why BF4 keeps getting singled out for coming out too soon (it is 2 years) when assassins creed and CoD are even more frequent. Hell even Mario is more frequent lately.

Ya I play on PC, I just bought premium and bit the bullet. Very dumb of me to even buy the stuff piece meal at the time but I didn't have a lot of cash.

Maybe they could of just waited 6 months for BF4 after end game just came out, just seems too soon I guess. I love BF series but I don't want a new one every single year like CoD.

Because it can kill a franchise, maybe it's not too soon. It just feels like end game comes out, and boom BF4 announcement soon. That's just me though I am sure others don't mind.

It doesn't really matter if it's gonna be announced soon, BF4 is still at least 6 months away from being released at the earliest.

most of the DLC BF3 maps are excellent.

Yeah, "You want good maps?! Then purchase our DLC!
And then microtransactions for guns and special ammo".

We wouldn't need this discussion if EA had allowed mods, but of course, that would render their DLC pointless in their first place and would lose a couple million dollars.

BF4 may come out two years after BF3, but BF3 has been given a huge amount of content throughout the year. We're hearing about BF4 right after the release of BF3 End Game.

There's been a LOT of Battlefield content.

BF3 was clearly rushed though. Thats why the vanilla maps suffered, and one reason why DICE want to make BF4 right now is because Frostbite 2 is already there. Remember that the FB2 engine was still under development during the BF3 process. Now with BF4 they can fix most of the problems with BF3.

well i see nothing wrong with supporting the game with new content. BF4 will probably get the same treatment.

It was like this for Dice:

Bad Company 2 - Early 2010
Bad Company 2 Onslaught Mode - Mid 2010
Bad Company 2 Vietnam - Late 2010
