One month from today: BioShock Infinite

Okay I stopped following this game due to the development fiasco.

Why should I be hyped again?

The last gameplay demo I saw looked horrible. How long is the campaign? Did they get all the issues sorted out?

Did they ever explain why the hell this has "Bioshock" in the title?

The game is terrible, the writing is bad, I heard there was only like one guy on the developement team, GAF is currently taking shits on any and all promotional materials for the game.

It already sounds like nothing will please you so I'm just trying to shoo you away. I'm sorry if you actually of a sort of curiousity within you

1. You shouldn't be hyped, the game went through hell and seems bad

2. The campaign is sounding short

3. The issues weren't sorted out hence the short campaign and troubled development

4. It has Bioshock in the title so they wouldn't have to do anything new, expect the same old experiences with this one

So yeah don't bother looking into this game anymore, you won't like it at all.

You're right. Headed out now to cancel my preorder!

So because I didn't like the last development video there is no pleasing me?

I asked legitimate questions...

There WAS a development fiasco, accept it. Asking why Bioshock is in the title when it looks NOTHING like Bioshock is a legitimate question. I'm still waiting on answers, if you can't answer my questions then I would ask this WHY are you hyped?

I want to be hyped for this, just not seeing much to get excited about. Maybe i've missed a few things. I'll have to watch the video a poster linked a few posts back.

Bioshock had one too, then.

I suggest you watch this as well:

And BioShock went through hell too.

Improvisational combat? check
Rich detailed world that begs for every nook and cranny to be explored? check
Compelling narrative? check

Trust me, Infinite is a BioShock game.

How does it look nothing like Bioshock?

Aside from the setting, it looks very similar to me.

To be honest those trailers don't do anything for me. It exploits the worse parts of Bioshock (the combat) and assaults you with loud and brash music.

This video is the one that got me excited more than any other. Just seeing how detailed and lavish the world is, reminded me why I love this series in the first place.

Man, I'm super excited for this game but I've been on blackout for so long it's starting to get hard to ignore all these trailers and interviews. Must...stay...strong...

Boom. I said it many times but again, i will shoot what i have to shoot but i'm most excited about the story. Who is Booker, and what is the debt that drives him to Columbia? What are Elizabeth’s powers and why has she been locked up since she was a child? Why does Booker have the letters “AD” branded into his right hand? And what, in God’s name, is the Songbird.

Is it just me, or are all the pre-order TF2 stuff non-tradable? I can't seem to sell them. Actually it just dawned on me that you probably can't sell them until the game comes out?

Yeah, this is the video that everyone who is on the fence should watch (if they don't mind spoilers, of course).

This is what Im most excited about too. Everything else is just gonna be sweet, sweet icing.

For me what makes bioshock games so incredible is not only what you said, but also the game's ability to critique and assess philosophical concepts. Bioshock 1 is probably my favourite game of the generation because of how fascinating its exploration of Ayn Rand's Objectivism. I have never really seen a game do anything quite like that before. Infinite looks like it is similarly going to critique American Exceptionalism, religion and Socialism.

It will change in a few days or something. Was the same for me with Brutal Legend items.

Did you take that last part from one of Levine's posts on IG site? sounds familiar. :p

Yup. Exactly. It's why I love this series so much. The themes stay with you, they make you ask questions and they make you want to discuss them.

On the topic of religion, I fear I won't understand much there due to me not being well versed in Christianity and whatnot.

BioShock Infinite will be 'talked about for a long time to come', says 2K

“BioShock Infinite is like no other shooter out there,” Simon Turner, UK marketing boss at 2K Games told MCV.

“Not only does it demonstrate the technical quality that gamers expect, but the story and characters invite you into a world so rich and immersive that people will be talking about it for a long time to come.”

Awesome. Thanks.

Kinda funny, I haven't had TF2 installed since I bought the game years ago. I reinstalled and found all these items I have in my inventory now from pre-orders and buying the game, etc. I just took a pass through the market and happen to have $42 worth of items selling them at bare minimum lol.

Some Deus Specs were worth over $4. Wow.

People love their TF2 items.

I'll probably put my Bioshock stuff up right away when it becomes tradeable.

THANK YOU, something I hadn't seen that actually restores my faith (and hype) in the game. Hopefully it can live up to being the game Ken says it is.

After bioshock I actually read Ayn Rand's 'The Fountainhead' because I was so intrigued by the philosophy. The bioshock games are so deep in this regard that they should come with a reading list of essential books to understand it completely. Now is the time to do some research on American exceptionalism (including religion) and socialism, lol.

Haha, I read Atlas Shrugged afterwards.

Also, it's interesting to read about the Boxer Rebellion (which Columbia acted upon and caused them to secede due to America's reaction)

Yeah it's great. Got half of my money back for Brutal Legend when I sold the 2 items that I then spent on this game.

You making all this up?

I just listened to an interview Levine did with NPR's Studio 360 about Bioshock Infinite. It's only about 10 minutes and there's no new real info, but it's kind of interesting to hear a non-gamer's take on Levine and the game.

Here's a link:

http://www.studio360.org/2013/mar/15/return-to-bioshock/

You can tell the interviewer was totally into it until Ken showed him the killing portion and violence.

Shame, because I think a game like Journey shows you can accomplish your goals without resorting to it. Unfortunately the demographic to that who which it appeals to, don't play video games.

You must have not purchased Red Dead Redemption then! Now that was a fiasco.

And Bioshock is not centered around a single city, as you've seen. Rapture was an apparent dystopia and Columbia is not, which is brilliant because if you look well enough you'll see just how screwed up it is. Also, you should not say it doesn't look like Bioshock at all, you should try and watch the videos released so far, because it sounds like a very uneducated opinion.

I wonder how long it will be actually. If it's seven or eight hours, I'm happy, I don't need fifteen hours because it doesn't have MP or whatever, but just asset wise, from what I've seen, I can't imagine they have that much material to keep people moving at a quick pace for that long. I wonder if we revisit areas often.

EDIT: Top of the page, lame, now it lacks context and looks like I'm bitching.

One of the devs, maybe Levine said it's about the same length as Bioshock.
