One month from today: BioShock Infinite

cuz the System Shock 90s PC guys would come in and be like, "fuck this pussy ass console shooter, what about S-S-S-SHODAN, here's why SS2 is old school and hard and way better"
You seem kind of bitter when people say Bioshock is dumbed down compared to SS2 (which it is).
Youve been on a roll lately. This one and your comment yesterday about how we need to stop saying reboots need to be Dark Souls lol.
For people that never played a hardcore game before, Dark Souls is amazing. But wow, what thread were people saying that?

edit: nvm I just went through post history.

They are going to come wafting out of the ether once the game ships.

Right along with, "NO MULIPLAYER? I'M OUT!"

THIS GAME DOESN'T HAVE MULTI?!?!?!?!?!?! HYPE TRAIN DERAILED

So happy they ditched it by the way

Edit: I had a picture but I decided I didn't feel comfortable posting a crashed train :(

Yeah I am glad they didnt include some worthless check box on a list feature that would offer nothing new but cripple resources. Much like Metro 2034 abandoning multiplayer as well.

Although Bioshock 2 multiplayer felt like it had a lot of potential.

Anyone know when the embargo ends? I'm assuming the 26th, but I hope it is this week (particularly as IGN mentioned a "big week of coverage ahead".
I'm hoping for my copy to arrive on Friday/Saturday.

They always feel like they have potential until you actually sit down and play it. Recent example: God of War

I feel like the last time I played a multiplayer that didn't feel rushed, tacked on, and actually brought something interesting was Brotherhood but now that has become stale because its the same thing being released again every year with no touch-ups.

Review embargo most likely won't be up this week. It's too rare of an occurance IMO

The reason I thought it might be is IGN's coverage along with the fact there's been loads of hype/delays.

I meant to say this in my first post and then got distracted with a phone call :P I think IGN is hyping coverage to just show a lot more previews and basically "spoil" the game by showing more than they should. I don't expect too many official reviews though.

I think we'll see a few magazine reviews next week, though.

I'm going to do my best to avoid stuff now, particularly after IGN put a video with a description of the ME3 ending on their front page, it isn't worth the risk.

The retailer I order from usually has Tuesday releases arrive on the Saturday at the latest, which means I should be able to avoid these spoilers.

Always true but magazine reviews are always easier to fall through the cracks since normal subscribers end up getting their copies before embargos are lifted. The guarenteed 9/10 from game informer doesn't really interest me much though :P

Edit: I'm also going to need to go full black out soon. I expect a good twist from this game and I get the feeling people are going to be very quick to ruin it if I'm not careful :/

I watched a playthrough from 2011(?) on gametrailers yesterday and this already ruined parts of the game for me. :/
Or at least a mind blowing story part.

I'd actually be a little disappointed if the game only got a 9/10 from game informer. It appears to be their 'average' score these days.

Polygon will give it a 10. No, wait, an 8. It's raining outside, so maybe a 7. 9 on the weekdays.

People who pre-ordered, the score doesn't matter as much unless Ken has been snake charming you this whole time, I suppose.

Have I mentioned that Minerva's Den is great and that you should play it?

I played it back then, i'd like to replay it but I tried and it seems it's not on my GFWL account anymore or somethin :s

fuckin gfwl

i'd get it again if it wasnt full price

I truly believe that GI has stopped actually playing the games and they just score it based on AAA console title? 9. AAA handheld title? 8. Popular Indie Title? 8-8.5. Unknown Indie Title? 6 if the premise is lame. 7.5 if the premise sounds cool. Everything else? Dart board between 2-6.

What if it's terrible? What if the entire game is a mess of useless skills where the shooting is much more effective than the powers? What if the story is a non-nonsensical stream of half-baked politital and religious opinions?

What's the joke behind this?

Polygon gave SimCity a 9.5, but following the outcry over the server issues marked it down to 8.5, then lowered it further still to 4 after said issues failed to stabilise in a timely manner.

Edit: Beaten.

IT'S NOT GONNA HAPPEN

Don't worry too much about review scores.

The game will be good, we have seen it ourselves.

I'm not even going to read reviews or scores when I start to play the game, if I do that I find myself imprinting their own opinions onto the game.

And they spoil some of it as well.

Yep. No review reading this go around.

Do you have to ADS in this game? Or can you just shoot with the sights effectively?

I play tons of CS and TF2, and ADS just slows down my aiming.

Not even scores?

I may glance at a couple sites.

The other problem is what site do you trust to give out scores without being influenced by marketing dollars?

Kotaku? lol
IGN? lol
Polygon? lol
PC gamer? lol source

RPS? Better source, Doesn't give out scores.
Giant Bomb? We have a winner.

I'd be sad but the GAF meltdown would be delicious.

Seems like this is how most big budget hyped games turn out now. I wouldn't be surprised at all if this ends up the same.
