Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | March 2013 | Carving an Independent niche

Hey, this is Laurent Mercure from Frima Studio here,

We're glad that you guys are excited about Nun Attack coming to the PlayStation Vita. If you have questions about the game, I'll answer the best I can or seek the answer for you : )

Have a great day!
Does the game have trophies? If so, any details?

I was wondering this as well. I don't own it, but before GEB2 comes I do want to give it a try. It seems like you can get it online with the PS3 Ad-hoc app? But I'm not sure how that would work if you've bought the game on the UK store - since as far as I know, isn't the Ad-Hoc app only available via the US store? Would you even be able to cross them over?

never owned a PS3 so I have no idea. But yes I have heard that you can use AD HOC party however that works.

But as I said, play it single player if you dont want to work out any of that stuff. Because of the AI team mates and how they arn't totally useless (actually kinda useful) it works really well.

Its a huge game as well. 75 for me to get to the end. I of course did a bunch of extra missions before I got there to get items etc etc but yeah. Well worth it. Online would just make it even more awesome.

The story is also actually kinda fun in that crazy Japanese way that I like in games. Games rarely tell good stories..... but fun, dumb and over the top crazy ones are quite common.

So curently playing RO and will def get SS when its out. Now if GE2 and PSO2 get localised then that would just be something amazing.

How was it bringing this over to the Vita? You mentioned that you retooled the game and difficulty to fit a pay up front style game rather than one fueled by microtransactions, can you expand on what that means for us?

Will it be PSM title or native Vita?
Will it be F2P or normal sale ?

To put real simply, the game is in general a little easier and requires less "farming" to get guns.

I have two questions. First is, what is the consensus on screen protectors? My screen gets so smudgy and dirty after playing for a while (especially for touch-heavy games), and I'm kind of getting tired of it. I am afraid of air bubbles though, and I did read that sometimes a sticky residue is left behind after removing it. Not that I would ever want to remove it after applying it, but...

Second is, what is the best way to clean the screen? If I'm going to get a protector, I'll have to apply it onto a clean screen. And even if I don't, smudges are really annoying. I've used water, but wiping that off still leaves some smudges/marks, so... yeah.

Nun Attack Vita will be a full Vita game, not a PSM game!
It will be 2,99$ US and its equivalent for other currencies.

Cool that's what i wanted to hear ;)

BTW i think you can contact admins and get yourself verified as a representative of company which would give you diffrent status than junior member :)

didn't see anything on this so...
Quell Memento, the zen puzzle game from the makers of Quell, launches on PS Vita in April.

Quell Memento is made by Fallen Tree Games, the Nottingham-based studio formed by two former Free Radical Design and Crytek developers, Joe Moulding and Lewis Boadle.

It follows Quell and Quell Reflect, for iOS and Android.

"Due to our industry day jobs, we relied largely on word-of-mouth to build a community around these puzzle games," Boadle told Eurogamer.

"Fortunately, they have both been very well received by players, so finally last year we decided to take the plunge and go full-time!"

Set within an old abandoned house, Quell Memento is a logic-based puzzle game with a simple sliding droplet mechanic. The player restores order to jumbled memories and in doing so discovers game-play variations. A video is below.

We quite liked Quell, which Kristan Reed described as a "raindrop puzzler" in his 8/10 review from 2010.

"Set in a series of hazard-strewn environments, Quell asks you to collect all the pearls in the shortest number of moves without busting up your delicate raindrop. Although it moves in the direction of your swipe, the raindrop doesn't stop until it hits a wall - or bursts against a spiky obstacle."

video below because i can :P

I use a screen protector for my Vita and it's great. Initially there were one or two bubbles after I applied it, but they've completely gone now and it seems to take a lot of punishment. I don't know about any sticky residue (..lol), since I have no intention of taking it off, and it doesn't look like it will come off by itself any time soon.

As for cleaning it, I just use a little microfibre cloth. Works a charm. Gets rid of any marks pretty easily and doesn't scratch the surface of the protector at all. No need for any liquids near your Vita either..

Alright, well, thanks for the impressions! You're just making me want it more now.

By the way - PSO2 is completely manageable. I'm only about 6 hours in but I'm having a blast with it, despite not knowing any Japanese at all. Maybe there'll come a point where I'm completely lost with it and not don't know anything, but so far, it's a lot of fun and there's a bit of a dedicated English-language community. Everyone I've played with (randoms) has been super helpful and patient. But, for everyone's sake, I hope it gets localised ASAP. Same with GEB2, love the weapon designs in that.

And I need to get back to Ragnarok at some point.. guh! So many games! ;_;

i don't think there is a sticky screen protector out there, i just use a damp cloth and then a dry microfiber one to dry it

So am I reading the blog comments correctly? This game will ONLY have touch controls???

No button control on Vita?

If true, any possibility for a patch to include proper controls?

more epic mickey details from the EU ps blog
We’re really excited to announce that the magical Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two is coming to PS Vita later this year!

Join the legendary Mickey Mouse on a fun-filled quest to bring a splash of colour back to Wasteland – a weird and wonderful world of forgotten Disney toons – in this long-awaited sequel. Exploring alone, or alongside the loveable Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in a co-op adventure, Mickey must use his enchanted paintbrush to find new paths, solve puzzles and battle evil mechanical monsters.

Naturally, we’re making the experience even more epic using the awesome controls of the PS Vita, including front touch for greater painting accuracy and tilt controls for racing mode. Not only that, but there’s also a two-player wi-fi co-op mode exclusive to the PS Vita, so you can unleash the power of two on the go anywhere, anytime.

Stay tuned for more updates, including release date and pre-order details.

We've received a lot of comments on that side. The game will be entirely touch-controlled except for one button to cancel actions.

We'll look into that for future patches but to be completely transparent, we we're not planning to include button controls.

It's pretty fun on Android... so if it's a Vita game and not a PSM game maybe there has been some additions?

Just read that it's 2.99 and has removed all the microtransactions. Vita confirmed best version of Nun Attack. Awesome.

yup, i know right, can't wait, so much indie goodness this month

I don't think that is a big deal, if the game was designed for touch controls than it makes sense to keep it that way. However, button control option is certainly nice because some people can play games better with them, and the Vita has so many :p

Yup I have heard its totally manageable but I would prefer to experience it in English. If by the end of the year there is no use and I have finished playing what ever I have going at the time, then il just use my spare 8gig card to play the JPN version. For now though I am OK to wait as I have plenty of games to get through.

I played it on Android and I have no idea how physical controls would even work on it. It just seemed totally suited to touch controls. Anything short of a mouse would be to slow.

true, I mean you touch on the area where you want to go, directing an X target icon with the directional arrows would be slower and less accurate

from what I remember you start on the nun you want to move and then drag to where they need to go. I think?

Either way it would be way to slow using a stick.

Hmmm, Sony logo on Epic Mickey 2 box and a blog post by SCEE staff. If Sony have gotten one of their internal studios to port it themselves I'll be annoyed they didn't bother to do the same with Borderlands 2. :/

Maybe this is the start of some deal between Sony and Disney for Vita games. Sony port this, then Vita gets Disney Infinity or whatever else they're cooking up? Gah, I'd love if they ported that unreleased XBLA Star Wars: First Assault title to Vita, but it's probably not coming anywhere.

maybe this is their way of getting traction for the Disney crowd? I mean release it near KZ:M and have a price cut, caters to both crowds

Porting it or not, they sure are publishing it.
Probably a way to grow Vita's game library and be on the good side of Disney to convince them to announce Infinity.

lets through the quality of the game out the window and just think about this in terms of size constraints.

on one hand you have epic mickey 2, a game that already has a wii version and thus should have a base version that won't have to sacrifice anything to get it running on the vita, and was only 4.5 gigs so getting it down to 3gb shouldn't be terrible.

On the other hand you have borderlands 2, a game with big open maps, and lots of data (6.5gb for the base game with no updates). To even get it down to fit on the vita they likely would need to consolidate quite a bit likely sacrificing quality. But sure lets assume they can shrink it down to the tiny size limit of 3gb and get it looking/running fine, at that point either the DLC wouldn't come to the vita or you will need to put a ton of data to the side. The DLC for borderlands basically doubles the size of borderlands 2 on all platforms, and it's not all out yet, keep in mind they are talking about a second season of dlc this coming fall as well as plenty of side stuff that won't be part of the season dlc such as characters, so even if the vita version can get all of the dlc cut in half in size when everything is said in done borderlands 2 would likely take up 8-12gb (depending on how much dlc there is) if you wanted all of the dlc (keep in mind the 3gb for the digital version as well)

You also shouldn't forget all of the extra time and effort it would take to make sure the vita version is a quality port, which when everything is said in done it would likely at best break even and just eat up a lot of man hours.

I'm not really sure why they are bothering with epic mickey 2, but it likely would take a fraction of the man hours to get a quality vita port running for the base game compared to borderlands 2, and it doesn't have any big dlc to worry about in the future. It likely will sell less than a port of borderlands 2 would (though even that is debatable, epic mickey feels better suited to a handheld than borderlands 2 to me), but it also likely would have a much lower threshold for turning a profit, and despite quality differences is more likely to turn a profit.

No that was a different game. The title was a play on Armaggedon I think.. Nunaggedon or something. Can't remember. This is a Vita PSN game though according to the PS Blog.
Honestly, what are the chances of two Nun related games coming out within weeks/months of each other?

Sounds like huge waste of time to me.

Haven't been around much lately thanks to lots of things going on but i still love my Vita <3 Looking forward to Sly 4 next week, i must say! Will no doubt be played entirely on my Vita.

I'll be giving it a try regardless, thanks!
I just know a lot of people won't if it's only touch.

Jetpack Joyride which was recently released was touch only, but button control was patched in and it made it a whole lot better. Same goes for Plants vs Zombies.

I don't know exactly how your game plays so not sure how much of a difference it could make.

Ha, well remembered, My friend is making a game called Nunnageddon - no relation to the Nun game from Frima. Just a similarity in having Nuns :P

It got rejected a few times because of a couple of little unforeseen problems, but he's got them fixed and resubmitted so hopefully it will be out soon and i can nag you all to buy it.

First of all, I love Nun Attack on android, so it's awesome that it's coming to the Vita.

I do have a question though, and sorry if it's been answered:

Did you have to make some changes in order to make it a PSN game instead of a PS Mobile game? And was your goal when you started the port to make sure it was not a PS Mobile game?
