The Making of Divekick (#1) // trailer

It's called Divekick! The game will divekick to the top!

But divekicks have downward trajectories! It's impossible!

Looking good. I like the new character art more than the old ones. One of the youtube comments pointed out that Kick has the gray divekick gem equipped... DLC incoming?

I have one quibble and it has been bothering me for the longest time.

Having both the C and K lines there is too cluttered. At the intersection between the E and K your artist cleverly conjoined them but not at the C and K. Any reason for this? It's very distracting.
 
Lmfao I lost my shit when I saw Wolverine's divekick. So true

It bounces the opponent into space giving the opponent all the time in the world to combo.
 
I'll be gladly buying this with the money Sony has given me for nothing over the last few months.
And the fact that it'll be available because Sony allows Indies publishing flexibility is icing on the kick... I mean cake.
 
Until every other fighting game gets fraud detection warnings and that becomes a standard in the genre, everyone else is playing catch up.
 
First time I played this, I frauded the other guy. I felt like such a champ. I feel like part of the fun will be taken out without those giant buttons, though.

edit: gooey if you just hit kick, you leap forward slightly
 
I was pretty sure that kick on the ground moved you back, but I'll watch the old videos again. And the meter did go down, if you watch the trailer.
I thought it was a hop back too and it was added to allow baiting and creating space rather than forcing yourself under people.
 
Mahvel 3 burnt me out on fighting games big time.

I think I'm coming back solely for this game. Mad hype.
 
I'm probably just thinking of the double tapping of kick then to move forward. It's been close to a year since I played haha

yeah, you can inch forward using the the angle of the divekick. Someone like Kung Pao was good for that. Taptaptaptaptap on kick to move forward slightly, then as Wolverine's about to hit you at a high angle, you use a real jump to move back and close off the angle with her horizontal kick.

I think you've got it backwards. The dive button is the normal vertical jump button. If you're on the ground and press kick that is the backwards jump called a kickback.

I haven't played though, that's what I picked up from the commentators.

With kung pao, how horizontal her kick is, the double tap works pretty effectively to inch forward without stayinb vulnerable too long. The one part I messed up on was the jump back, which is off the kick as well. But if you inch forward using that method, then hit kick once to jump back a fair bit, you can bait out the more vertical divekicks.

Concerning the Kickbox controllers -- for now, HitBox is providing those for us for our shows, and they will be a special order only item.

PC version is still coming. Sorry for the confusion. We'll give you a release date as soon as we have one. For now, expect Summer.
 
Interesting, my friend was just telling me how someone was going to publish it. He did one of the voices in the game, I think it was Marn, which he did by trying to sound like FLOE.
 
I was asking Keits about the Kickbox controllers in a Twitch stream chat the other night, and he said that the two-button controllers actually put the player at a disadvantage because they lose the ability to utilize fake button presses. Apparently the metagame of tapping ununassigned buttons on a traditional stick to get the opponent to do something on reaction has formed over the course of testing the game.
