Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | March 2013 | Carving an Independent niche

damn...that break/downtime where I need to charge my battery in between my P4G session...I have to go back...

I just passed 40+ hrs and the game is just absolutely fantastic so far. Everything about the game feels overwhelming, yet well-crafted and intricately done.

Hoping someone can answer some quick questions: What key things are carried over on NG+? Is there anything I should plan ahead for that second playthrough?

The most important thing that carries over is your personality stats (knowledge, expression, etc.). Having those maxed makes finishing all your SLs in NG+ a lot easier.

Other stuff that you might want to look into are registered personas, registered skill cards, money, and costumes. All of those also carry over.

How long could I expect my first playthrough of P4G to last?

At least 40 hours if you try to level up S.Links, don't skip cutscenes, and even longer if you go for the True Ending.

I'm at 90+ hours on my first playthrough, but I'm trying to complete my Compendium. And I'm still loving every minute of it.

I'm stuck on the boss guy that
kidnapped Nanako
. I've overleveled myself to like lvl 80 but keep getting murdered by that shitty boss. Any tips?

Use Mara as your Persona, use items to negate your party members weaknesses and put up Tetrakarn/Magic Mirrors when he uses Quad Converge.

So I got my 10th Platinum overall for the Vita - Gravity Rush + 100%

I have such a backlog for this system =/

Same goes for PS3

I play Vita, PS3 game keep getting backlogged
I play PS3, Vita games keep getting backlogged

I buy too much >_<

Only 15 Plats to get to 25, will reach that goal this by E3, hopefully

lol

you know who makes that right

I know.. I was winching within as I knew the impossibility of this happening :/

off-topic,
my main PSN is actually on my Asia PSN :/ where I earned most of my PS3 trophies and stuff... if only Sony allows region-change (one-time) + trophies merge + name change

These applies to all bosses: look at bosses' patterns, get teddie and yukiko with you so there's at least one that can heal, your allies should equip "suppressor" accessories, use always marakukaya because it protects the party from damages for 3 turns(=less sp or object spent for healing or revive) and even more important bosses use to waste 1 turn to launch dekaja to remove marakukaya(less attacks=less damages=less items or sp for healing or revive).

sorry but could we try to keep the thread free of P4G spoilers :X haha I am trying my best not to read them... don't think i'll be able to get on the game any time soon.. but I really hope to play it with nothing on my mind

I'm in Japan for a couple weeks and after seeing so many Vitas in the train I went down to Yodobashi Camera and got one + boob ninjas and miku miku. Fuck I never even had a Sony console before, Lord Ballmer, forgive me for this betrayal.

BTW any other JP only games I should grab? I kinda have an unlimited budget, so I'm just gonna geek out on Akiba before I go back home.

Quoting myself since I didn't get any replies, any other JP only games I should grab? I do know a bit of japanese and don't mind niche games if the gameplay is good (or the fanservice REALLY good)

Has everyone seen TotalBiscuit's footage of Supergiant's new game, Transistor? Really hoping it's another indie game Sony get on Vita. That art style would look amazing on dat OLED.

I'm not sure this one is coming.. These guys love MS. It took a while for Bastion to show up on PC, and of course it was never released on the PS3. The game is out in 2014. I have a gut feeling MS will lock this one up for at least 6-12 months.

Yeah, that's what I worry about. :( Bastion sold 1.7 million across 360, PC and iOS by the sounds of it, so maybe it'll just be Nextbox and late ports on PC and iOS. But I can dream! :(

Phil Fish was tweeting about how much he dislikes 3DS and how he prefers Vita (I know this because geams journalism considers this news) so.... Fez Vita confirmed?

Pretentious douche, will not buy.

Even then it'd be a pipe-dream of it being a perfect port. 30FPS DMC incoming and you'll like it.

Unless they mean the "HD collection" of "the feel of 60FPS" in which case I guess it's up Carl's alley for that one.

Well they did kinda highlight the fact that their developing (publishing?) this independently, so there might be hope for at least an earlier PC version (if not at launch). I imagine a PS4 version would be more probable than a Vita version, although who knows. By then the Vita might have had some small explosion and the platform becomes viable enough.

I've read in a few places that EU online passes actually work on AU accounts?

Can anyone here confirm? I know US & JP ones don't work... Just looking to save a little money importing Soul Sacrifice from the UK next month!

Yes, I mentioned that a couple pages ago. I had 14 referrals all pending, they've updated three of them. At this rate they'll be done by the end of the year.

But speaking of that, in addition to $20 on PSN you also get 1000 Sony Reward points. I assume you can buy PSN cards with those points? Does anyone know how much PSN credit can you buy with 1000 points?

I just checked the Sony Rewards site and you can buy them with your points only if you're a Sony card member it looks like. :/ Unless Im reading it wrong. http://www.sonyrewards.com/en/browse/catalog/PlayStation/PlayStation-Network

It depends on the game - if it has the same product code it'll work. Most games will but there is the occasional game that won't. Now that Australia has it's R18 rating I think you'll be fine.

I'm workin on the All Stars Platinum today. Afterwards I'll probably start P4G. The win without getting killed online is frustrating. :p

Thanks for tips! I havent really been focusing on the personality stats that much or registering my personas. Will keep those in mind now.

a little more sober from all my spend $50 get $10 back purchases now...
only to realise that my local seller has a used Lumines for $13USD.

hmm makes me wonder really... why spend so much on titles.. that you can't resell.

Pick up Demongaze, it's supposed to be a fun dungeon crawler with some interesting ways of making the game unique.

I spent almost $100 on the store last night (bought Dokuro, P4G, P3P, Persona 2: Innocent Sin, Sound Shapes (and all the DLC save 1), Nun Attack and MH Freedom Unite. I still have to resub to PS+, but that puts me just a few bucks shy of $150.

Is there a list of releases coming to the PSN this week anywhere?

Demon Gaze is awesome but I think knowing a little Japanese goes a long way in making it fun. There's sort of a message system like in Demon's Souls where people can leave notes on the ground, and sometimes they say which direction to go or where to click on a wall. Even if you don't know some Japanese there is a wiki that Google-translates well enough.

Because you can switch to Lumines from a
non-
Cart title easily in minutes.

That alone is more than enough for me than having to lug around carts and pop them in and out.

If I am enjoying P4G, should I get Persona 3 portable (and other previous persona game) since they are on sale?? or is there be a possibility they will remake 3 for vita?

Persona 3 Portable doesn't have the 3D running around town like P4 does, it's all on a 2D picture where you just move a cursor around. I think it's still a great version of Persona 3, especially with the choice of playing as a female main character. Persona and Persona 2 aren't really similar at all to P3/P4, they don't have the social aspects and are strategy RPGs. If you like Persona 4 then playing Persona 3 is almost required as it's also great, but keep in mind that as it's the previous game in the series there are some elements missing.

I'm in Bangkok for a couple of days in the summer, and I did a little research to find some Japanese Vita randomness that I could keep an eye out for while I'm there (well, hopefully a cheaper Asian release - failing Bangkok my wife is in Singapore for a couple of days later in the summer so maybe I could get her to look :p). Anyway, I'm going to be keeping my eyes open for:

Hello Kitty to Issho: Block Crash V
Monster Monpiece
Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA f

Of these Diva f is probably the only one that stands any chance of getting localised. As far as I know none of them need you to speak Japanese to play, although Monster Monpiece may require the most head scratching.

Hello Kitty - yes, I know, I know, but it's a breakout game on the Vita and I figured it would be an amazing collection discussion piece.

Monster Monpiece - if you ignore the whole making anime babes get nearly naked by rubbing them aspect the small amounts of internet posts I've seen on the actual game make it seem like there are some interesting mechanics there (think CCG battle with different 'card' types that you need to get to work together to beat the opposing team)

Project DIVA f - rhythm game with crazy Japanese music. I've not seen anyone that has played it say that they didn't enjoy it, so probably the one to think about the most from these three :)

Senran Kagura is a whole lot of fun, kinda story heavy but the gameplay itself is really solid and competent.

Is there any way to keep the PS button from blinking when it is in standby mode? In the notifications menu, I have the button turned to off in every category.
