Hideo Kojima @ GDC 2013: Talk focused on FOX Engine workflow for Ground Zeroes

I know, but they talk about the FOX engine as if they had discovered fire.

What do you want them do say? "Oh yeah, here's the engine we came up with. Guess it can do some shit, iunno. It's nothing special, nothing to be excited about folks."

and? if you created something like this wouldn't you be excited to talk tech and show it off?

Not to mention they started off with something like 'this has been done before but not at kojima productions' and constantly mention 'i know people know x concept but here is a summary again'. Haters are being selective listeners.

No, this.

and they're being stupid about it too.

it's like.. when you learned to say "mom" as a baby, or hell.. the first time you pooped in the toilet. your parents were proud, they told everyone. super weird analogy, but this is kind of the same thing.

yeah. existing tech aside, their goal seems to be making everything easier, not new concepts 100%. I don't know game development, but I can understand from their examples, how simplicity is used in the engine.

As someone who made a very shitty gun rack in UDK today in a minute or two, that gun rack looked crazy good :D Graphics designers will probably love this, for example the clothing tool, looks nice for animators perhaps?

I wonder what those PC devkits are powered by.
Also Can I get the engine for my architectural renderings.
Why not simply use Mental ray or similar? I'm sure FOX Engine could provide some good results for architecture but it would probably not be enough if you are to present to a client etc.
