started watching this last night

I died laughing at the promo for the restaurant that they played when the people were in the bathroom

im guessing like 80% of this is scripted though right?

Wow so good. Simon's amazing. His freaking handshake with Nathan at the end, and the way he always did the big boobs hand motion: so good. The whole fake arcade game thing was hysterical, Nathan talking to the belligerent dude who'd been filmed in the bathroom was awesome, trying to get in that lady's will, telling the shoplifter's friends that he's a nice guy. So goddamn good. Oh yeah and the fucking hat at the beginning. That killed me. Just him dryly asking if it worked. Impossibly good.
And next week looks awesome too. He's going to make people hike and answer riddles :lol

I actually don't think so. I've been trying to look for what could be fake, and while I think the Simon stuff may have been fake this week (or at least heavily coached) I think plenty of it is truly real.

So I gave the next two episodes a chance, and now I'm totally into this show. The security guard guy has to be an actor right?

Holy crap, I don't think I've ever seen a prank show get this deep. This show is incredible.

Also, I think that's the first time Nathan broke character and laughed at the man drinking his grandson's pee.

Tonight's episode was great. I hope Comedy Central realizes they have a real winner here. I'm liking this new slate of shows they've premiered in the last month or so.

Holy shit was this episode funny. I was a little worried that having seen the caricature artist part already that the gas station part might drag, but not only was the caricature artist pretty funny a second time the entire rebate camp-out was hysterical. This show is making me laugh more than any show in a year or so probably. The entire camping trip I was breathless because I couldn't stop laughing. This show is something special.

I died @ "Do you find this drawing funny? Well if said yes, you're probably [caricature artist's name]"

this better not get cancelled like most good shows do now

There is no way they could have scripted that grandson's pee sequence. They just stumbled into a goldmine with that. That was awesome.

I hadn't even heard of the show before this thread, but I watched the caricature artist one and holy fuck, that was one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

I've caught two episodes - both hilarious. Where can I see full episodes online? Hulu only has the first...

"I STAY I GET MY REBATE..."

*LAURIE: Rebate:$15.42*

Wow. That King of Sting bit was incredible. I was absolutely dying, possibly the funniest thing I have seen since Tim and Eric was on...man!

Nathan is a business god, Nintendo should hire him.

The way he fucked around with EVERYONE in The Hunk was incredible. The Haunted House was pretty good too, but I felt like it could've been done on any other show like Scare Tactics.

Edit: Oh god, that next episode. How does Comedy Central compensate for all of this? Do they pay in potential losses or what?

Just saw the first two eps for this. Man this is freaking good. Surprise this isn't more popular here on Gaf. People need to check this out.

Watched all five eps in one sitting. This show is too funny, how he manages to not break when these people react to his stupid business ideas is beyond me, though how much of that is scripted and real I can't even tell. Well made all around. Thanks for the thread, would've missed this otherwise.

Just watched the last episode again, and the way at the beginning when he scares that lady during his narration, then seamlessly continues it, was incredible.

The latest ep was probably the weakest but still pretty good. The girl that was told to tell her darkest secrets was.... odd as if she really was going to because of the long awkward pause and expression she did but ended up saying "I don't like wearing socks" really got me.

couldn't get through the poop frozen yogurt one. Too much cringe for my taste.

That wasn't real poop you know, it was artificial made.

So glad GAF brought this show to my attention - it's hiliarious. None of my friends seem to know about it, though...I get the feeling it might not be catching on. I liked it so much I went back and watch all of the (mediocre) eps of Jon Benjamin Has a Van, mainly to see more of Nathan. JBHV had some good jokes, but really was not that great of a show.

Love the elaborate setups in Nathan For You. Not sure if they'd be able to keep it going all the way through a second season, but so far every episode has been pretty good. The pizza and hiking one last week was a little meh, but The Hunk stuff this week was so perfect.

Yeah there are really funny little things sprinkled throughout the shows. I don't know why I thought this was so good, but there was one intro where he just very gently popped into frame from behind a wall, with like a really softspoken "boo!", then chuckled to himself like he pulled a good gag on the viewer, and then just started up his monologue. It was maybe a 2 second little bit, but I rewatched it a bunch of times.

Yup little stuff like that is why I love this show. I don't agree though that this series won't catch on, there's been a lot of celebrity endorsement on twitter, and I've been showing it to all of my friends. It just needs better advertising. I think word of mouth will get it far though. I've not yet met one person who doesn't love this show.

Word, I was just wondering based on anecdotal evidence. I don't know what the advertising is like for it on Comedey Central. I'll keep hyping it to my friends, but it can be tough convincing them to watch stuff.

the haunted house thing was fucking genius

I love this show
I thought that was a great joke, but didn't really work as a segment. The whole 'suing' premise was a little flimsy, and it was really only entertaining to watch one group go through (and, smartly, they only actually showed one). Still an A-for-effort bit, though.
