Shin Megami Tensei IV (3DS) coming to NA retail/eShop Summer 2013 (July 16)

Great news! I had an inkling it would be out sooner than expected, like the fall someone, but the Summer? Totally unexpected.

Premium price? Feels like Atlus is summoning their SE persona.

The game is likely to be 50+ hours for the main story like Nocturne and SJ. Game also has 100 Challenge Quests (side quests) and 400+ demons. Plus a fast localization.

Much better deal than any SE game with SE tax :P Though TWEWY was worth $40.

Didn't they use the inclusion of a dual-language option as justification for region-locking the Persona fighting game? (a game that still isn't out in Europe, AFAIK, despite the fact that they promised a simultaneous release)
Sort of the other way around; they said that they *wouldn't* be translating it into FIGS to get a rapid turnaround on release.

Just to reiterate: They didn't translate the text so they could release it quicker.

omg, so much hype! Hopefully this launches around June/July because I'm going to have some time off this summer. You can see the whole country from up here. So, this is what it feels like to be king? Holy shit. This is so the biggest deal right now.

Amazing news! I was ready for possibility that we wouldn't get it this year. This just became my second most anticipated localization announced for this year, after Soul Hackers!

Now, please Kenka understand that because the games we make don't exactly sell like Battlefield or even a fraction worth quoting, we don't have a European office.

ATLUS

Atlus just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about European culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America or Japan where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Europe, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the european public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase SMT IV for the 3DS, nor will they purchase any of Atlus's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Atlus has alienated an entire market with this move.

Atlus, publicly apologize and hire Ghostlight immediately to localize SMT IV for Europe or you can kiss your business goodbye.

For a gamer that likes jrpgs it sure is a blast to live in a Europe...
But good for Usa gamers that they get soul hackers and SMT4 this year I'm so happy for you. Meanwhile I'm going to play my badly bugged copy of Devil Survivor Overclocked.

I kinda feel like drawing silhouette of my middle finger and sending the picture to Atlus.

Nice!!!!! I guess my import list cuts down to only Monster Hunter 4 now...so happy

Before:
Monster Hunter 4
Bravely Default FF
SMT4
Lightning Returns: FF13
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMIX
Soul Sacrifice
FFX|X-2 HD
Fire Emblem awakening

After:
Monster Hunter 4

PS. I don't care about BDFF anymore.....

What the eff, I was planning to beat SMT2 first!

Eternal Punishment, Soul Hackers, SMT4 ... at the slowass rate I play these games I'm gonna get burned out haha.

I still don't get why some people (duckroll) did not think that this game would be this year.

Because we're all familiar with how long Atlus localization takes usually. :P

I thought we'd get this in the winter, if we were lucky. This turn-around time is nuts, and gives me hope for whenever P5 gets announced.

After I finish my month of the early personas, I'll probably set Nocturne, which I've never been able to trudge through, as a May game I guess. Definitely want to be all over this when it comes out.

I won Person 1 or 2 (PSX) back in the day from Gamespot and lasted about 30 minutes into it.. loathed it. Never touched it again. Ended up getting into Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne years later though and LOVED that and recently fell in love with Persona 4 Golden. I will definitely give this a shot.

The turnaround for most Atlus games has been 5-6 months, for like the past few years.
It was guaranteed to be this year.

There's no way Atlus would release this in the late fall where it'd be trampled by holiday releases.

Hopefully this will qualify for one of the $20 off promos we get around E3 (Canada), I'm not sure I want to throw down $50 for this while my 3DS backlog is still pretty large.

We could have gotten EOIV last year, but then again Atlus wouldn't risk releasing it close to Persona 4 Golden. Right now, theres DS2: Break Record and Shin Sekaiju no Meikyuu left, who knows if we'll get them this year too, but I highly doubt it.

It's not like there's too much coming for 3DS during that time.
Heck, I can see Devil Survivor Break Code hitting during October.
