Yeah I can understand if that was what Game Freak intended, it just sucks that poison type is just straight up inferior. Ice is pretty bad too but at least it's decent offensively, poison is straight awful.

It's actually a pretty good defensive type. It has a resistance to fighting while only having two weaknesses.

And I honestly don't see that as a case for Garbodor - I mean, what would you expect to a garbage bag that has ripped open to reveal its contents? Like I said, people just see "overdesigned" without thinking much of the design itself, something which early gen mons suffer from.

There are early mons that suffer from it as well (which muk does not so it isn't relevant here). It's not just that Garbodor is over designed it's also just an example of hideous art. I realise it is based on trash but that doesn't mean the art design itself has to be ugly.

We could also get into the whole issue of whether the contents of a trash bag should be a pokemon at all. Not that i want to as i know exactly where both of us stand on these things.

True the defenses are decent but the issue lies in being weak to the ever prevalent Earthquake. But with certain combinations poison can be good, Crobat walls a fighting type for instance very hard. If Yveltal was part poison that could be great.

I think Poison is great defensively (resists fighting, bug, immune to poison, and grass, only weak to two types), but offensively it sucks. It's like the reverse of Ice!

Who are we to decide what shouldn't be a Pokémon? They're monsters, not plausible animals. From the very beginning there have been oddballs like the ones you mentioned, and the style in which they are portrayed means that nothing seems alien in the Pokémon world. You can't point a finger at any one design and say "That's not a Pokémon," because they're all so diverse and unique that "Pokémon" can mean anything from dog to egg.

Who are we to decide what shouldn't be Pokémon? They're monsters, not plausible animals. From the very beginning there have been oddballs like the ones you mentioned, and they style in which they are portrayed means that nothing seems alien in the Pokémon world. You can't point a finger at any one design and say "That's not a Pokémon," because they're all so diverse and unique that "Pokémon" can mean anything from dog to egg.

Exactly.

Each Generation has its own unique style, naturally due to the designers changing and the trends passing. But all monsters have the "Pokémon effect" in them to an extend. You can also say that they often fit with other elements of their Generation, like the region and the like. That's how things are -- regardless to each person's opinions, we should all appreciate that the series evolves naturally instead of being constantly and compulsively streamlined.

Hmm a Psychic/Poison type would be an excellent wall against fighters. You could probably get away with Levitate too with the Psychic typing.

Wow, as obvious as that should be, I never really considered that so literally before. I guess it's because the fiction equates them to animals. Thinking of them as monsters makes a lot more sense to me.

Well, it wouldn't be any fun if people kept masturbating over every new gen. You need some dissenting opinions.

You're overly positive if you feel like everything Game Freak does is perfect and only gets better every time.

Every gen has issues. I recently beat Pokemon White, and enjoyed it. But it had issues, just like all the previous versions.

100% agree. I just feel like we are all going though the motions. It always happens. I thought that gen V was all hideous until I played White and White 2. Pokemon White was one of my favourite games of all time, even though it had flaws.

Every gen has 'bad' pokemon, whether that is design or name or colour pallet or stats or move set, but I do genuinely like all of them so far, with Chespin, the 2 legendaries and the new Mew pokemon being my favs so far.
