Skullgirls DLC Character vote | The Campaign united us, The Voting will destroy us

I am still voting for Annie, Umbrella and Feng next round, going to leave Marie out this time...

#TeamMoe assemble!

Not official artwork but these palettes are awesome. Original from this guy.

Sweet ass! Big O for Solarpowered and Gurren Lagaan for me. Needs Epyon palette to complete my circle.

3 out of 4 of my characters made it past the first round...

So who do I vote for in the 2nd round in place of Beatrix? B. Dahlia or Stanley?

^^Hilarious.

I'm happy to see that all of my pics from Round One made it through. Truthfully, I'd be happy to see anyone who survived this particular round make the cut - although Aeon makes me incredibly anxious.

I love that Days of Future Past reference. I love it so hard.

I'm happy to see who made it to the second round, but at the same time, why vote for any characters in the top row? Once the game starts making money on its own DLC sales, won't those characters end up in the game organically through the story anyway through future DLC or part of the SG2 roster (which Autumn has expressed interest in already)?

People like Stanley, however, were initially not going to be in the game, but ended up on the roster out of fan demand. I think Minette is probably the same way (God knows I was certainly vocal about that for the past year and a half).

I want to talk about the aesthetics vs mechanics discussion for a bit in regards to my character choices.

I kind of feel fortunate because all of the characters that I love mechanically also appeal to me in an visually. Feng for example is my #1 choice and that is purely because I heard that Makoto is one of the inspirations for her. Feng out of all of the choices also has my favorite design believe it or not. Seeing the bird concept also raises my interest in the character.

Edit:

The Lab Zero crew have said repeatedly that no characters are guaranteed for a spot later and the results of the votes may change future plans so you should vote for who you really want.

According to the offiical FAQ: Marie, Dahlia and Umbrella are "necessary" for the story. They're most likely eventually getting into the game.
Still voting Umbrella to show my support for TEAM NO DICKS.

.

Mike has said that if you want Marie/Umbrella then vote for them. They might never EVER end up in the game otherwise

VOTE MARIE AND UMBRELLA

I have to stick to my guns.

Aeon
Beowulf
Feng
Marie

If it comes to a showdown I have to vote for Aeon though. Aeon and Beowulf are definitely my two choices down to the wire.

Days of Future Past pic is great, especially because the artist has one of those styles that makes everyone look pretty emotive and fun; even character who have oddly stiff stares from the voting art (like Regina or Ileum) look striking in that particular pic.

And those PanzerPalettes are great, too. Panzer-Band-Sampson teams would have been so out there for a game called "Skullgirls", though at least we'd have a Filia hood ornament as a guest star...

Looks like I'm not the only one who doesn't feel these time manipulating characters. It's too much of a headache for me to wrap my head around from the gameplay perspective which is why I hope Beowulf or Panzerfaust win in the end. Annie is winning vote #1 or #2 because it's part of the grand cosmic tapestry anyway. :P
Here are the Top 16 characters from Round 1 of the first character vote, in alphabetical order.

Aeon
Annie
B. Dahlia
Beowulf
Brain Drain
Eliza
Feng
Isaac
Marie

Minette
Molly
Panzerfaust

Scythana
Stanley
Umbrella
Venus

Thirteen out of sixteen were on my list. Looks like I've got a pulse on people's choices so far. Hopefully my top 8 are close as well.

The best thing is that, IIRC, Wolverine in the original cover was also the guy with nothing written about him in the poster and standing in front of the thing, and he was one of the inspirations for Yu-Wan's gameplay.

Alas, Roxie didn't make it :( Still, I had to try.
Beowulf, Scythana and Panzerfaust move on, so I get to keep voting on them, as should the undecided who lost their choices to this round.

My T16:

1 Eliza
2 Stanley
3 Samson
4 Aeon
5 Beowulf
6 Venus
7 Feng
8 Isaac

9 Hubrecht
10 Molly
11 Brain Drain
12 Annie
13 Black Dahlia
14 Umbrella
15 Marie
16 Panzerfaust

2 off. Minette I don't mind. I don't get Scythana's appeal though- if I want to play Cody... I'll play Cody.

I was about to post a similar sentiment about Scythana. Visually she doesn't seem that interesting to me (old school prison garb, and... she's tall?), and the tentative gameplay mechanics of hers don't stand out very much. The corpse mechanic just seems inelegant in a game that allows 1v1 fights.

But don't let me stop anyone from voting for her if she's your lady!

It seems pretty noteworthy that all of the characters Mike Z demo'd passed the first phase. Not that those characters were necessarily unpopular but I assume it certainly swayed more people than it dissuaded. Some of my favourites are definitely at risk next round. Also, if Japan loses Marie I'd bet they will prefer a monster-type character. Iirc Blanka is Japan favourite.

See, even there, I just see Cody's knife. :-P

That is such a silly statement. Scythana was boring as hell visually. People started coming around to her because
A: She's bigger than Panzerfaust
B: her gameplay is sort of interesting
C: her storyline is very interesting

You seem to have fallen into the same trap most people fell into when looking at Beatrix. She looked like ass so you didn't bother to look up her information. Regardless she isn't going to make it into the top 8.

As for Minette I don't know why anyone wouldn't think she would move on to the next round. The fan art all over the net made this an obvious no brainer.

I'm voting Scythana just so I can see the brand new unique animations Lab Zero will have to draw for all the dead characters being carried by her. :) But my priority is still with Panzerfaust.

Two of the four I voted for fell in the first round.

I figured Leduc didn't have a prayer, but I half expected Taliesin to pull through.

She lives to fight another week!

I'm pretty sure the top 3 are Eliza/Beo/Isaac though, in some order. If not, then they should be, with Isaac in the lead, followed by Eliza.

Yeah, it's all very well thought-out, I bet a few more breakdowns on who replaced who could even been made!

Was good to fight the Roxie fight together too, haha. I'd have loved to have seen her get in...

I don't quite get the Anti-hype overy Scythana. When I think about this element of her description:

her limbs can stretch and expand during attacks for additional reach. Her Gigan heritage becomes more pronounced during certain animations, with her body taking more monstrous form.

It makes me think about Shigen from Last Blade:

And you know they'd be even more dynamic than his color-shiffting.

And to see someone someone shifting monstrosity on each limb, as it does more ferocious attacks, sounds pretty cool in SG artstyle.

VERY much like Victor from Darkstalkers, and kinda like Tessa's arm taking on the Dragon-form in Warzard / Pocket Fighter.
