He spent four or five posts talking about how he was too busy/disinterested to explain his opinions, because 'it wouldn't matter'. That doesn't add to discussion and just clogs up the thread.

If he didn't want to discuss the topic and instead wanted to derail it with his own silliness, he could have not posted at all. Just like Orth could have kept his mouth shut.

But his opinion was the same as Cliffy's, which is why he said a few times 'read the link for my views'.

The guy above you says 'really cool and informative article'; is anyone going to jump on him and ask him why its cool and informative? Nope, not likely. No one derailed it until everyone started asking for his in depth detailed views on it... and then he referred people to the article.

Ironically, I'm now too busy to read this thread right now, essay in soon. Thought I'd add my two cents worth on the article (very briefly, I pretty much agree with the Edge one as well) and his banning, which seemed pointless to me.

people who have replied, guess just see this. Asked to defend his opinion, said refer to the article. No more needed to be said really.

Posting a statement about how you're too busy to provide an argument in addition to not defending that argument when asked reaches the point of trolling/stirring the pot, IMO.

If you're not looking to provide a serious response, why bother making what seems like a generic "I agree" drive-by comment, but then stick around and post about how you're too busy to include your reasoning when asked why you agree with it?

gaf's defining moment was when everybody doubted that guy who claimed there would be a Mortal Kombat vs DC game and he disappeared for 3 years, bumped the thread to call out everyone who doubted him, and disappeared again.
 
Oh great, the Cliffy post again brings up "piracy", fantastic. Can we upgrade that to "bringing up Hitler" status yet?

Favourite part was his extremely novel way of saying if you are somewhere without access to internet/stable internet then you should find other things to keep you occupied than playing games.
 
With all the commotion around GAF, you'd think these individuals or giant corporations would try to sue GAF for defamation or some twisted bullshit like that sooner or later. Oh god, I bet they all wish they could. That or find some legal way for censorship.

Thank god for liberty of expression. Users simply telling it like it is.

Probably because Kaz mania is lame. I've always seen it as Sony-GAF trying to match him with Iwata who actually earned his jokes with "Iwata drop the bomb", *laughs* and the banana stare.

The only thing Kaz is remembered for is Ridger Racerrrrrrrrrrrr and 599 US dollars.
 
I was honestly all about the Kazification, even though I care very little for console gaming. I thought the enthusiasm was infectious. I can only hope for something even remotely similar for Microsoft's impending announcement of the Xbox, and of course E3.

It's a great time to be a gamer, unless you're Derrick.
 
Reading the article again I have decided that all gaming journalists should quit their jobs, the sites should be shut down and NeoGAF will be the sole provider of news and reviews to the masses.

It's just another example of popular sentiments on this site shaping media coverage. Microsoft's always online debacle is part of the same narrative as Sony being popular for PS+, PS4, and indie support. The overall story is about consumers, and whether they get trampled on or respected.

And yeah, the Kaz gifs were mentioned on multiple other gaming media sites and a few even wrote articles about it. It was about consumers standing up and backing someone who backs them.

It's not lame. It's getting generic. Nothing bad by itself. But not worthy of being mentioned since stuff like it are born by the dozen every week.

That's fine and all but I don't feel like a few sites reporting on a popular meme is particularly relevant to this article, which is about pushback against industry antagonism towards consumers.
 
You do seem to get news pretty quickly. I joined up because people always said, "Stolen from Neogaf" in their threads.

The very first page of this thread links to an EDGE article. You might even say that EDGE article is the defining subject matter of this thread - something anyone participating in this thread should reasonably be expected to have read before posting.

That article contains the following quote (which should come as a surprise to no one):

Just seems relatively unnecessary to me that he should have to elaborate or defend his statement when someone else has already done it for him in the form of a blog post. If he'd said "you know I love CliffyB but he's wrong", the likelihood is no one would have given a fuck and it would have gone unnoticed.
 
Man, I wish I felt more influential by posting on GAF. I wouldn't even know what I would want to influence though. The flow of money to my pockets, I guess.

*laughs* It would make pictures of NeoGAF meetups that much funnier. Let's at least take a vote to change "Believe" in the logo to "Hivemind." It seems so much more appropriate, given the internal and external portrayals of "our" characteristics.

I'd also like someone to set the over/under on users who posted in the topic and users who read the article.

About 6 months for me...I think.

From how I understand it, account applications are reviewed in batches and when they have the time. So if a batch was just reviewed and then you apply right afterwards, it could be a long time before you are approved.

At least I believe that's how it works.
