Regardless of which arm of Sony is at fault for store update inconsistency, stuff like this just shouldn't happen. Period.

Not when its biggest competitor updates its own marketplace consistently. If Sony can't update on Tuesdays for whatever reason, move the update back to Wednesday if it means better consistency. Sadly, even when updates were Wednesdays, update consistency was still haphazard.

Tonight's case may be exceptional, given the surprise maintenance, but late updates to the PlayStation Store are nothing new.

i understand that, but Tretton and Grace seem to have nothing to do with whats happening right now, and the past month or so has seen pretty decent times for updates. Im just not sure how this current issue is related to SCEA if the problem came from Japan.

Sony is just crazy incompetent in the US. Yes, this is a Japan problem today but they've had similar late updates past midnight (one was a 2AM store update for Biohazard 1, FFS). The fact they can't update when stores going to be delayed longer than anticipated on Twitter is just more sad.

If this was actually planned rather than impromptu it still means there were some serious communication issues between SCEA and other divisions, like hey, can you hold off on maintenance until awhile after we updated the damn store?

Why do you think it's acceptable for a company to repeatedly and consistently fail to be reliable in something as simple as adding new content to an online store?

Not to mention things like routine maintenance turning into 2+ day events that keep extending without much explanation.

Gaming is what a lot of people come to at the end of the day to relax, and when something so simple can't even be relied on it's kind of irritating.

Are they really? It took my friend 19 online hours over TWO DAYS to download Lego City Undercover on the WiiU. I've NEVER had that problem with PSN.
