I LOVE it <333

Looks fucking great. 99 cent game my ass. So much stupid hyperbole

Don't speak for its looks until you watch the 3D video, I say. It looks more vibrant, you see the vertical gameplay better, etc.

That art style is... not great. There are some assets that look recycled from the DS Zeldas.

But it looks like there are some neat ideas at play, so I'm okay with it.

For everyone who's decided to furiously masturbate over this, remember that Nintendo is going to fuck up the legacy of LTTP with padding, tutorials and a companion.

Don't let your childhood get ruined. Boycott this shit.

What the hell are you trying to achieve here dude?

I suppose you're talking about me? You literally stepped around what I said to badmouth because you don't like what I have to say. I specifically said it has nothing to do with the art direction, it's in the execution. It has nothing to do with color.

I'm trying to have a reasonable discusion, and you're the one making childish comments.

I wasn't talking about you at all, sorry.

Nah, that's what they did with every console zelda N64 and after. This looks nothing like they're apologizing for just that and giving us a bunch of awesome.

While being a next link to the past is important, contrary to the hammer, the hieroglyph Link seems to be a strong idea and not just one of the upgrade items, I guess it's part of an extended power and defining element of the game.

Just downloaded the Trailer on my XL. Looks amazing in 3D - you can see this was clearly designed to be experienced in 3D.

The fact it's called A Link to the Past? Couldn't care less. It's just a name. The fact it's top down? Holy hell, get hyped. Also, that wall flat Link is the greatest. Cannot wait.

Listen I'm just gonna lay this out there but every Zelda game that hasn't had a top down camera angle sucked* and seeing as the 3DS doesn't have a proper secondary stick I don't want to deal with tapping a button to reposition the camera again.

*Of course there are exceptions to everything and Majora's is the one for that.
Ignoring opinion presented as fact, I thought I'd point out that the majority of 3d Zelda games have coped without a secondary stick.

PREVIOUSLY on Link to the Past:

Video

Going to the concert and reading the interviews I always felt this might be coming but I hadn't DARED dream it would be true:

Aonuma has been suggesting he'd like to do LTTP for years, I hadn't realised Miyamoto was saying similar...

a new game in a new style, taking heavy inspiration from it - would be amazing.

SM3D Land is inspired heavily by Mario 3 and plays differently from all other 3D marios, so we shouldn't assume they mean top-down...

LTTP is still the best Zelda imo. It's deep in terms of gameplay, but lean, and light on dialogue and melodrama. Compared to the newer games it looks simple now, but it is one of the few Zelda games to evoke a strong emotional response in me. That epilogue and end credits will stay with me until I die. It's the SMB3 or Super Metroid of the Zelda universe -- it is the right masterpiece to take inspiration from.

I am PUMPED!

Additional hype:

Haters?

I'm not even disappointed in this announcement, I'm just indifferent. Nintendo let me down with the last two Zelda games for both the DS and Wii. I just don't think I care anymore.

Yep.

It looks like LTTP....only in 3D.

The game looks great. Yeah, it's not pixel art, but for what it is, it's fantastic.

Yeah i mean the only way to do something more acurate would be to have a nds with a better rez style and to map low poly with 16 bit unfiltred pixel art texture. I would love that but that would look more like a direct extrapolation of the snes game.

Dude, sorry, but you're not six anymore. Nintendo just don't make games the same way

Guys, WATCH THE 3D VIDEO!!!!

Looks wayyy better than what was shown. Also, as shown at the beginning of the video:
THE FOLLOWING GAME FOOTAGE IS FROM A GAME STILL IN DEVELOPMENT.

It still has time to improve and look better by holiday 2013.

This is the best post in the thread.....

It shouldn't be. What they did with LTTP was special, the graphics and art were mind blowing at the time and even now still looks incredible. This looks like amateur hour compared to that. It's not a Celda situation. On top of that, this is a sequel to LTTP, so comparisons to the quality of that game should be expected. The truth is, Nintendo doesn't have the magic they did in the SNES days, when they went above and beyond anyone else to make truly spectacular games.

You all know that ,even if the game is a masterpiece, is going to have slow movement, slow and limited gameplay, is going to be easy easy and, maybe, is going to have stupid tutorials too... almost all nintendo franchises have suffered this change because, nowadays, nintendo games are for "everyone" so you all better forget about that feeling of a "classic" game like a link to the past. For example: if we pick old 2d mario games and we compare them with the new super mario bros series... or if we compare 3d zeldas like ocarina of time and skiward sword... or super mario 64 and super mario galaxy... before it was like if the game was telling you just "go" and nothing more but now... you know is true...

The DS games were fine. The forced touch controls weren't great, but the dungeon design of both were really good and the world and characters of Spirit Tracks were great.

No they weren't. Like, at all. The central dungeon in the second game was decent, but everything else was just standard fare - going through the motions. No thinking required.

But thats besides the point. I'm talking visually. The DS games were this weird take on the WW style.

This game looks much better - especially in 3D.

...

This thread...it should've been a happy one. But it isnt! Goddamn

Trailer looks fantastic in 3D. Massive sense of verticality which demands to be played in 3D.

I'm a big fan of the wall mechanic too. Seriously looking forward to it.

I'm statistically more inclined to finish a top-down Zelda than a 3D one, so I look forward to this.

Won't somebody think of the childhoods?!
